Hahahahaha… this made me laugh so hard!
this question might sound kind of dumb but what is the main benefit of using High Tiger Shot > Low Tiger Shot i feel I’m just doing them I’d rather no why i used the move and its purpose correctly.
High tiger shot has better start-up and recovery, it’s best purpose WAS to be able to win fireball wars, it also does slightly more damage.
I said WAS because the move has been nerfed to shit.
High ts now has the same recovery as low ts.
When within footsies range it’s generally better to use low ts (if any at all) because high ts can be crouched and then punished.
High ts is generally better as an anti-air.
Block strings should utilize low ts since high ts will whiff.
Weird question: I remember a combo from vanilla where you could throw a low tiger shot and immediately cancel into super. At full screen, the uppercut at the end of the super would hit, and they would land on the fireball. Obviously completely useless, but still looked cool and I have no idea where I saw it. Anyone remember this? I don’t know if it still works.
How are you supposed to stop characters with a good backdash on wake up? Eg. Rose. OS crouch short, crouch fierce or stand roundhouse don’t seem to work, or maybe I’m mistaking it?
Kara uppercut
St. Hp and St. Hk will both work if close enough. Even high tiger shot os
Is there a special timing to it because when I try it Rose recovers in time and blocks.
Stand Fierce definitely works. I cant get the OS input to work though because once i release the stick from holding down to OS standing fierce, Sagat stands up. Cant do it quickly enough…any tips on how to make this OS easier would be much appreciated.
So what i end up doing is getting a read on my opponent. If he likes back dashing on wakeup I just crouch next to him and as soon as he stands i just throw the fierce out there.
Another good thing to do would be step lowkick to chase them down…this could be linked into cr lp, ts, FADC etc.
Is low step kick fast enough to catch a backdash after you’ve confirmed that’s what they’ve done though?
IIRC from playing Ryu/Akuma, their OS with crouch jab/sweep works by hitting sweep exactly in between combo’d jabs (i.e., so whatever the combo timing of the jabs are you hit sweep in half of that and if they sit there you get a jab combo or blockstring, and if they backdash you get a whiffed jab followed by a sweep that connects. This doesn’t seem to work with Sagatto.
Krimzn, the way I do those standing OS’ is by holding down back when I’m inputting my cr.lk’s(which I always do because it’s a great normal) then I quickly shift the stick to back do HP or HK the quickly back to downback in one motion. It takes practice, but it’ll be like butter eventually.
If you’re familiar with the number direction inputs
363 on the right side
or
141 on the left side
Thanks joe. Will give it a whirl and see how it goes. Laughter, you could OS sweep or Cr fierce in the same way you do with the shotos, but you would have to do the sweep or fierce in between cr short links, i.e. cr lk os cr. fierce cr lk cr lp etc.
The timing is almost like hitting a target combo. The crouching fierce or sweep wont catch rose or chun though…for that you need stand fierce and doing that means entering the stand fierce in between the cr lk links …joe describes it in the post above mine as i cant do this os myself.
To answer the question about the lowstep kick…its not fast enough to catch them on a confirm, but it has to be done more as a read. I’m sure i read how to os this as well but cant remember how to at the moment…will try to look into a vid that shows a bunch of os techniques. BRB
Here it is…this is a link off dlakula’s account on Youtube where he shows a bunch of anti backdash OS techniques…hope it helps.
Forgive my ignorance, but i was under the impression that backdash option selects were only available to characters that had chainable (not linkable) normals.
I was told that Sagat cannot do those meaty option selects.
They work like a charm on most of the cast…vid is proof…dont know whats up with the whole only chainable rule…never heard it myself.
Bonchan does the cr lk cr fierce os all the time.
Thanks for the video. That really helped.
Nah, almost every character can option select. What you’re thinking about is when a character has a chain bnb and the stronger button takes over if the light whiffs. With characters like Sagat you can’t chain so you input the heavy button inbetween the light links instead of at the same time.
So someone with a chain would do this - cr.LK > cr.LK + cr.HK = If the opponent get’s hit the two lights come out and you continue into combo , if the first whiffs the HK comes out for sweep.
But Sagat has to do -
cr.LK > cr.HP > cr.LK in a piano method ( it has to be in rythem of the normal combo), so if the cr.lk hits, the cr.HP doesn’t come out because the opponent is now in hit stun then the next cr.LK connects, but if it whiffs then the cr.HP comes out.
It feels a little bit like doing a target combo, it’s slower and more precise.
In laymans terms - do your standard bnb - cr.LK > cr.LK > cr.LP xx TU but input a cr.HP inbetween the two cr.LK.
Apt description Highland…when are you gonna stop being a lazy bum and post up those vids?
Anyone else getting high tigershots when doing cr.lp, low ts with cr.lk? Every now and then I get a high TS instead of low even when the input clearly says light kick in the lab…
