I couldn’t get EX TU > Ultra 1 to ever work on these characters, anyone know if it’s possible at all? (EX-TU on standing opponent)

This is odd to you? Chars have diff hitboxes and fall speeds. It’s perfectly logical that it doesn’t work on everyone.

in a match vs vega , i managed to combo the overhead into c.mp in the corner

wicked.

How exactly did you get this to happen? I tried with Vega standing in the corner and w/ him crouching and after the afterhead connects it puts Sagat way too far back to connect the cr.MP.

I think did it in his wakeup frames…

(also 100% positive it comboed because the cr.mp killed him and 2 hit combo popped up)

EDIT: i watched the replay and it was a counter hit.

Yep , it has to be a counter hit , just tested it in training. works on standing vega

I have a basic question, do you trade uppercuts on purpose when you do? I don’t main Sagat but when I play him I don’t even try to time my uppercuts because if you hit the opponent high it can do 200 dmg, and if you hit too early you can F.HK EX FB or Ultra. Do you think it’s necessary to time your uppercuts, is trading a bad thing? I know sometimes it will be in the opponents favor like for Zangief but overall it works.

Depends on the situation. But really, I’m personally not skilled enough to “time” my Uppercuts so that it will or won’t trade. If I have an Ultra, then YES I would like for it to trade so I can Ultra after the trade.

Either way, whenever I Uppercut as an Anti-Air I get my joystick ready in the motion for either a HK or an Ultra just in case it does trade. If it doesn’t trade… well that’s good too!

Obviously the only time you wouldn’t want to trade is if you’re low on life and a trade will KO you. Other than that, I say always be ready after an Anti-air for a HK or Ultra opportunity should you trade.

I’ve looked around for answers to these questions, but can’t seem to find them anywhere, so thought I’d post them here.

-What are Sagat’s meaty attacks? As far as I’m aware isn’t it just cr.lk and crossover lk?

-What are some good block strings for Sagat? I’ve looked in the combo thread, but can only find BnB combos and was told these are bad for blockstrings.

Does anyone still have the picture of sagat going down like the titanic and life boats full of dudley and akuma sailing away from it?

Is TU fadc xfwd Rh xxU1/2 character specific? Like timing wise?

Sure this has been discussed somewhere already but i dont fancy sifting through 49 pages but here goes.

Ive started using sagat alot more now and im really enjoying playing him but one thing im really strugging with is people who jump in from close range to do crossups as im just not fast enough to TU to stop it. Does sagat have a good way to stop people who do this?? I have seen people use st.mp but the timing seems really strict as it seems to get beaten all the time.

Learning to block a cross up is going to be pretty key. If you’re trying to counter on wake up and you’re unsure if it’s a cross up you can rack the joystick 32123 then late-ish LP. If you’re standing, depending on how close they are you can also try to F.RH their jump in attempt.

I can normally block crossups ok with faster characters but with sagat if they keep pressuring me with close crossups i get flustered and just cant seem to stop it i mean i blocked the actual cross up most of the times but then im not quick enough to punish.

But practice will make perfect.

Next question what is the best way to punish dudleys machine gun blow on block if he does the light version there just seems to be nothing i can do to punish it and i end up eating a cr.lp>machinegun blow combo.

Can i cancel the st.hk? I cannot for the love of god get it to cancel. Is it possible?

Also are these combos worth it?

cr.lk - st.lp - cr.mp xx EX TU
cr.lk - st.lp - cr.mk xx EX TU

You have to be close enough so that the two hits of s.hk are actually able to connect. You gotta cancel the first hit of S.HK real fast into a special move.
But that combo is hard as fuck and almost impossible to pull it off so id just skip it

I is that so, I can get the st.hk to connect (both hits) but i guess im still not fast enough to cancel. and for the second i do them because cr.lk cr.lk cr.mp xx EX TU whiffs on characters. the latter of the two does not.
