Sagat Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Play another Sagat then you come back to me.

U2 after an fadc will get a few hits… against honda U2 is an AA, punishes hb & can chip on hondas wake up. U1 just doesnt scare honda

I can make Honda jump and he has alot of life. Yeah I’ll take U1. U2 is for Gats that don’t know how to Kara. Plus hitting mp headbutt seems hella inconsistent.

how to fight bison’s scissor kicks and stomps?

if they’re close enough to the corner you can f+rh even if they hit you and get a free ultra

Huh?

Ps-I need to add you and play you. I’m pof from swf. Funny how we both play(ed) the same characters…

not every gat is mos----emblem i mean :stuck_out_tongue:

At 0:46 EmblemLord gets knocked down and while getting up presses the lk button 3 times. Why is this?

I felt like it. No seriously. There is no special reason I did so. I just felt like it.

Thank you for the previous response, EmblemLord, and now I guess I’ll throw another question out there.

I was told (or maybe I read it somewhere…) that when doing one of Sagat’s BnB combos (lk, lk, lp, TU) you should hold down-forward during the lk’s and lp’s, that way you can move the joystick to down then down-forward again to do the uppercut. However, after watching a few Sagat players, (mainly EmblemLord again) they/he holds down-back instead of down-forward. I see the advantage in that (or at least I think I do) because if you mess up somehow, you’ll be holding back so you’ll be blocking.

So, getting to the question, how do you manage to do the above BnB combo (or even lk. lk, lp, TK) while holding down-back instead of down-forward?

Meh. Just preference. Sometimes I do d/f sumtimes I do d/b. And to do it with d/b it’s not trick. Just fast fingers.

No tricks eh? Well that sucks. I thought I was doing it pretty fast, lol. Time to hit the training mode again.

Thanks.

Hell-0 Tigers,

sorry for ruining your discussion, but can someone please point me to a Sagat knee-blockstrings/blockstrings-in-general video tutorial/comment/whatever for Super SF4.
I picked up Sagat basically for my first time in Super SF4 (i don’t play top tier characters) and i’m liking him quite a lot, but i lack knowledge in the blockstring department.

Please help me out, thanks.

p.s. bonus question : why did he get nerfed so much? I think he needs a little bit of buff.

I posted this before…but in the wrong thread, sorry i’m a dumbass. confused the thread titles

There’s not really a video for Super SF4 TK blockstrings since they are not as effective as Vanilla thanks to tiny frame advantage if spaced perfectly and minimal damage on chip, it’s not really an essential part of his game anymore. Just one perfect spaced LK knee is all you need, usually done cr.LK>cr.LK>cr.LK>cr.LP.

Blockstring wise it’s all about the cr.LK, +3 on block, excellent frame-trap, and you can use a delayed cr.MP as a frame-trap too. To understand Super Sagat and his style, search for sunset01 ssf4 on youtube. That person probably plays the best Super Sagat I’ve seen.

Answer to question:

He got nerfed so much to please the scrubs that only visit websites and don’t play the game and only whine. Now they realize they overdid it and are giving him essential tools back in the AE so far (Tiger Uppercut damage buff, st.LK is back, LK Tigerknee like Vanilla, etc.)

thanks.

I watch pie, sunset and other sagats already. thanks.

98kyKzSipTU]YouTube - YHCmochi [Dhalsim] vs sunset01 [Sagat

Sunset01 makes the Dhalsim matchup look 7-3 in Sagat’s favour, dude’s an absolute beast. 0:24 he frametraps into cr.HP, sees that it is a counter-hit, and hitconfirms into HP TU since that combos off a counter cr.HP. So much ownage.

You did it because you wanted to make sure you buffer LKS like super early then went “screw it”.

What’s the purpose of forward j.MP? I never use it :\

and what’s a good air-to-air move for sagat (including neutral jump?..) balrog’s j.HK always beats sagat out

Forward j.MP had it’s glory in vanilla, but it was nerfed in Super. Neutral jump Air-to-Air hands down j.HP, that shit does 140dmg, and excellent hitbox. Your opponent will cringe if it hits counter. Forward jump it’s a toss-up between j.HP and j.HK, although I’d prefer j.HK due to j.HP having too high a hitbox.

I totally fucking forgot about neutral j.HP. Could’ve saved my ass plently of times :c what was good about j.MP?

j.MP had a million active frames and would put your opponent in an early blocking stance on the ground, and has insane priority. Not good to use vs characters who can trade hit ultra though since you guarantee them a trade hit.
