Is that really the only difference?
Pretty much. And slightly shorter distance.
Heya, Sakura player here, I just have a quick question for you Sagats.
Dealing with Sagat’s isn’t much of a problem for me, usually anyway, apart from when they do one thing, which I find really hard to beat my way out of.
It’s when Sagat just does c.lk and low tiger knees to keep constant pressure on you. Once I get caught in it, if I try fight my way out of it, Sagat beats me with priority, then if I try to jump, I get tiger knee’d out of the air. If it gets me into the corner, then it’s usually downhill from there.
I’ve tried things like c.hp, EX Tatsu to get out after the low knee, but he lands just out of range and resumes the c.lks, so I’ll eat the two c.lks and then get knee’d.
Just wondering if anyone care to pop at the best way out of it?
You can back dash after one c.lk but your timing needs to be on point.
Honestly Sakura doesn’t have alot of options in this situation.
So, don’t get in this situation.
Just block it out and when the Sagat tries to go for some REAL damage with a tick throw or cross-up mix-up be ready with an option select tech.
cr.mk into HP TU would be the easiest and most damaging. (considering the down forward shortcut)
st.mp into HP TU would be the next easiest with 10 pts more damage too.
As mentioned earlier cr.mk into EX Tiger Shot could even set you up for an ultra if you’re close to the corner but I’ve never done this myself. :looney:
But if you do EX TS on the corner into ultra (it works) you’ll lose alot of damage since the fiery uppercut part of the ultra will whiff (after the first hit).
Unless you don’t count this as easy: c.mk, TU FADC to f.hk into ultra. This should be your bread and butter ultra combo anyway
sagat has a blind spot
i seem to be running into problems with sagat he seems to have a blind spot, its when a character is at a certian distance and he jumps in with a jump medium kick or hard i try doing round house standing hk it always misses, i tried doing a focus attack and it absords the one hit but then he jumps over me and does a cross over, i tried doing a tiger uppercut and it trades the hit other then that sagat is awosome i always use him just need a tip on this one???
tiger upper and if you trade the hit it’s good for sagat because 1) sagat has more health and does more damage than other characters, 2) if they trade, you get to do ultra on them and hit them for trading
just throwing a question out there
What do I do against an akuma who just air fireball/ red hadoken all day? I can’t win fireball war since red hadoken eats shots, approaching is risky because of air fireballs. Another dumb thing is when i have him in the corner where i can pressure him with Tiger Knees and such, he just teleports out. I mean its manageable but I don’t think i have the right “mindset” against such tactics.
what should i do
i’ve thought of the obvious like baiting red fireball and jumping over, dashing/focus through air fireballs. anything i’m missing?
Try to attack him where he’s supposed to finish the teleport.
Also, a question, which of Sagat’s normal moves can be used as an anti air? I only know about HK, not sure about it though
standing RH, standing fierce, f.rh… and any jumping normal. But in all honesty you just want to TU. Most damage, and ability to link into ultra with meter or through a trade.
How do you time the f.rh? I tried waiting for Ken/Ryu/any random guy that jumps in so i can punish with f.rh to ultra & i just cant seem to time the f.rh.
practice. some characters are easier than others. you’re better off with uppercut, always
how do you do the corner fireball motion dash ultra consistently? pointers?
I don’t quite understand what you’re trying to do. Might want to rephrase that.
I have three beginner questions:
a)
What is a decent strategy against Headstomp-spamming Bisons ? It seems they completely shut down my Tigershot game. If they add some Devil’s Reverse, I quickly lose control of the match especially since I fail to punish even a blocked headstomp. :annoy:
b)
Why are oppponents sometimes spinning, when I hit them with my TU ? It messes up my timing, when I try to FADC->f+HK->Ultra. Is it still possible to combo in the Ultra when they spin ?
c)
Total noob question: What is the most efficient way to punish Ryu’s Tatsumaki if I see it coming ? I went to the training area and right now I just block it, but seems like I can not really punish with a combo starting with a normal, only with a TK or TU. And sometimes I even get DragonPunched when trying to punish it.
Thanks for your help !
Do the motions slowly and finish the motions when he just flashes white.
a) I just jump back fierce. I don’t recall doing anything else o_O If they do a devil’s reverse, you could time a tiger uppercut or f.rh.
b) They spin if your uppercut was a counter hit. It’s rather hard to time the f+hk when they spin (if I forward dash) so usually if I see that, I just go straight into ultra. An easy way to time the f+hk after a counter hit tiger uppercut is to back dash instead of forward dash.
c) If you block a lk tatsu, you can easily punish it, it’s -6 on block. If you block a mk or hk tatsu, you can’t punish since its -2 on block. The best solution is to duck the attempt and just tiger uppercut them as they are near.
Is it just me or the f.:hk: timing after the usual TU>FADC is kind of… weird when done on Gouken?
I’ve been practicing tu>fadc>f.hk>ultra and Gouken is pretty much (E.Honda gives me the same problem on f.:hk: but oddly enough I land it way more often) only character that gives me problems, I just don’t get why I can reliable land the whole combo on any character but not on him D:
Every character falls at a slightly different rate. Most aren’t noticable, Balrog and Gouken are off the top of my head. If you’re doing a random TU FADC (not combing into it from normals), you might want to try just TU FADC Ultra, because the F+hk will typically wiff on counter, and the timing is universal for all opponents.
