Sagat Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

This.

And I believe it’s because he’s S Tier, no one wants to use him because it’s against their samurai code… which explains the lack of activity in this forum compared to others.

It’s because most of the good players I’ve talked to don’t have the patience to deal with most of the morons that come onto the sf4 strat subforums like this one. Vicious cycle of sorts. There’s a lot of bullshit to sift through with good information only coming from a handful of quality posters.

Its not against my Samurai Code

@ Anotak, I totaly agree.

Fuck a samurai code

I’ll take first place cash prize over 4th place with a misplaced sense of dignity that no one but that person cares about.

total noob here. i can beat hardest on PC version. well, i can’t beat seth all the time (10%) or something bad, but i can defeat everybody else easily. versus live players, am i a novice, or medium?

2nd, what is a meaty move? i understand it is a move that has multiple hit sections, so that you have to continue blocking if you don’t want to get hit. what are sagat’s meaty moves? s.MK, s.HK? since those have two hit connections?

and why is low tiger shot a meaty move? because the trailing flame still counts as a hit if not blocked through all the way?

thanks

 1. Computer doesn’t mean shit.
 2. *"Meaty, early, getting-up moves: This means to use a move as your opponent is getting up so that only a few frames of the animation hit them, instead of all of the frames of animation. Meaty moves tend to have big active frames ? frames where your opponent can be hit ? making it easier to land an attack as the other fighter stands.

A Meaty move is useful because it shortens the wait time before you can do another attack, which leads to many additional set ups and throw tactics."*

Sorry if this is a redundant question…but what are your guys inputs for the corner TU->FADC (lvl2) dash behind-> Ultra…I cant get a consistent way to land this down. Its the same setup shown in the beginning of this video:

In the spirit of giving (hopefully not old news) I was in the training room and managed to connect f+rh->c.lp->TU on a STANDING vega. Haven’t tested it on any other characters as I know f+rh is a character specific hit on standing characters due to weird hitboxes and 3d shenanigans. I know this isn’t terribly helpful to anyone’s game but I found it to be interesting.

Vs Fuerte

Whats the best option to punish his command grabs? I am aware you can dash back to avoid it but after that what usually works best and what block strings would be best to use against Elf as well ?

i seriously listen to that song when im in training mode all the time.

lol maybe thats what I need to do than

so i know how to do the kara fireball… but the distance i move varies greatly :frowning: are there any detailed posts explaining all the ins and outs of kara-EVERYTHING with sagat? why would you really want to kara fireball? does he need to get in? for what? isn’t far fireball war + f+rh enough?

haunts: where do you guys play? i just moved so i’ve been out of the loop for a while but i’m gonna start heading out to svgl and maybe scuncion’s place… and of course kockstone2.

Mago uses Kara fireball a lot.

I’m working on the ultimate Sagat guide for iplaywinner.com…and a lot of other things…buuut…you’ll have to wait…

I’m moving to Daly City next month so you can swing by anytime to play if you want.

There are advantages to kara tiger shot but there are like…a million ways to set it up and use it so it all depends on what your opponent is doing and also what Kara Shots you are following up with.

For instance, if you throw a low RH Tiger Shot and follow up with a High Fierce Kara shot, in many cases the Fierce Tiger will hit the opponent if they jump over the low RH Tiger Shot.

Also, if you get in a rhythm with the Kara Shots, and the opponent keeps jumping back or avoiding them, you can continually do Kara Shots across the screen and push them into a corner. This is really the key of using the Kara Shot: the ability to push the opponent into or near the corner where Sagat is very strong.

Beyond that, you will start playing at Kara distances for everything. For instance, you throw a High Fierce Shot and kara a low RH shot, in many cases you will end up close enough to either regular or kara tiger knee and land on top of them to mount an offense and again, push them into the corner and limit their options.

So, a lot of it has to do with knowing the rhythm of the Kara shots and also paying attention to what your opponent is doing and using the appropriate shot and/or move to put you at an advantage.

aaand just for fun, try this out… High FP Tiger Shot -> Kara Low Short Tiger Shot xx FADC -> Dash, Kara Uppercut.

hmm i see… thanks i’ll go try those. it’s hella hard to kara fireball cause i’m such a scrub. :(:frowning: and yeah i already posted that combo but the other way around

btw, kara f+rh FADC is really really cool looking, and moves you forward like half-screen distance super fast.

i haven’t had chances to make pretty combos based on that, but i think you can catch bison devil’s reversal from full-screen if you f+rh fadc, and kara-dp.

it’s a waste of meter on most cases, but if it’s for the win, nothing is a waste. i’m not a sagat pro so you guys find uses on it. maybe i should have posted on the ‘TAKING IT TO A NEW LEVEL’ thread, but i am afraid of everyone telling me everyone knows already and it’s worthless piece of shit advice and neg-rep me until i go kill myself

assuming say Ken misses a SRK, wat wud be the **absolute easiest **combo to use against him?

c.mk ex fireball

I recommend c.mk>HP tigeruppercut. No meter. If you find it hard go practice it, it’s your go to punish combo, and can link with dash cancel into f+rh ultra.

Can someone tell me what makes kara tu with f.lk different from kara tu with f.hk? Seems like f.hk seems faster :\

You answered your own question.
