i fake kick and buffer qcfx2, then hit 3K if they jump or throw a special, which they often do for some reason
It also works for ghetto tick throws! They don’t block a hit but rather, they go into ducking to duck that shit and bam, thrown

Cross-up is an ambiguous attack that looks like it hits the back of the opponent even though it looks like it hits from the front. Your opponent has to block in the opposite direction if they want to block the attack.
Sagat has two: his jumping LK. You have to hit it really deep to combo though. Then there’s his jumping HK… which you have to be lucky to hit in anywhere other than the corner.
anybody master his wakeup tigerknee crossup yet and want to shed some light on the timing? surprised mago or ojisanboy havent utilized it yet. seems impossible
It could be that Mago doesn’t use it because:
They’re better options.
Its not up to around 90% execution.
This is the first I heard of it, however I cant link right yet.
This is a really stupid noob question but I just can’t figure it out…
What’s the input for Sagat’s overhead?
I was in training mode last night with dummy set to crouch always block and tried everything and it was all blocked. I only got a couple things that forced standup, but no hits.
r u serious? isn’t it like shown in his trials even? anyways it’s f.hp…
Trials don’t give you a crouching target so its not like you’d know even if you did it.
Thanks though, I’ll try it again.
I got some videos posted on Youtube. A match I lost and won. I just need advice on what I am doing wrong or right. I did miss a few opportunities because the input was wrong or lag caused it to be wrong.
I am going to post up more soon. If this needs to go somewhere else let me know. I didnt want to put it in the video thread because its for the more polished sagats
Just search for ZanaOyakata on Youtube.
Stop doing jump in rh, c.rh. I would personally recommend doing c.lk after a jump in to hit confirm into nasty stuff. Use 2 c.lks to hit confirm into c.lk x2, c.lp, TU. Or you can go for like c.lk, tick throw, jump in rh then throw, throw in a overhead in there somewhere (if you read your opponent and they’re not going to mash you out), or c.lk block string into safe ranged TK to followup on more offensive options.
Another great option when you jump in is to use a tick throw setup, then TU~FADC to be safe, burns meter, so use it to your own liking. But this is a great option since if they tried to tech a throw it’ll beat them cleanly and you get massive damage when you have an ultra. Personally I like to save 2 stock for whenever I get in a sticky situation.
Against that Chun-Li match to me it mostly looked as if you mostly used Tiger Shots to match her fireball. Sagat can throw fb’s in much quicker succession than Chun, so do so and make sure you’re at a safe range when doing it. You jump back a lot to safely throw a tiger shot, so that’s good, but instead of running away all the time if you know the right distance when they’re trying to slowly walk up towards you can use a tiger knee at the right distance and it’ll be safe. If it hits it’ll knock them down so you can continue up with more fb pressure. What I personally like doing is, if they tech to quickstand a quick mk.tiger shot after the tk knockdown will hit meaty, then after they block the mk.ts it’ll push them slightly back and you’ll be at the perfect range for a f+lk kara mk.tk, if you want to apply pressure up close of course. If you want to make them come to you, you can just throw another fb.
Also personally I’d advise to stop wasting meter on ex fireballs against characters like Chun, you can always beat her at a fireball war easyyy. No need to try and beat her by sending out an ex, from range 4~5 when you can easily match both (if you sent one out early), or you can send one out and still have tons of time to react then safely neutral jump or focus it the second one.
Again, no reason to burn meter for no reason. Wakeup uppercuts could be hella risky, but regular ones have enough invincibility on it’s own, even if you trade you’ll benefit from it. Since on trade you can get f+hk, TK, TS, or ultra, or the biggest bullshit of all, f+hk then ultra.
That Viper match. I dunno, wakeup ultra? Hella risky, but it hit so I guess good shit. But keep in mind if it gets blocked, against a good player it’s going to hurt pretty bad. That last ultra was pretty obvious it’s free, so nothing to worry about there.
A biggggg no is when you only threw your opponent after you blocked c.viper’s ultra. You can get HUGEEEE damage from a mistake like that, you have plenty of time after she’s still going in the air to walk or dash up then FA lvl3 stun her, into 2-in-1 TU combo. Missing out on a lot of free damage there.
Don’t use hk.tk, like ever. I find it hardly useful, and this version will never be safe, since he jumps up so high it leaves him vulnerable. Only use mk or lk from the right distance to make it safe.
The only block string I saw you use was c.lk x2, c.mk, I personally wouldn’t use this string since even if the c.lk hit, the c.mk followup won’t combo. I would only use it if I’m going for the safe TK for more pressure (still don’t use this for the safe TK, since other block strings can combo into it.) Try using block strings like c.lk x2, c.lp, or c.lk x2, c.mp, or c.lk x2, st.lk, or c.lk x2, st.lp. Since all these block strings will warrant you the same results as doing the first mentioned, though these will combo.
Hopefully this helped, bigggg ass wall of text.
what’s sagat’s best air to air?
I usually try not to jump, but sometimes in a fireball war, I like to do a jump in once in a while. But if the opponent also jumps at the same time, and i almost always get owned in air to air
Zana - I only watched the Chun-Li match, and I’m no pro but here are just a few things I’ve found out -
When you want to react to another person’s fireball (ie - cancel it out) always use the High/Punch TS, it has a faster recover.
If you can get clean jump-ins, I like J.HK, c.MK xx either TU or TS depending on whether the c.MK hits or not. This is an easy way to hit confirm, and does chip damage if they block. Note that the TS is not safe, c.HK (at least from shotos) will hit you before recovering but you CAN mash out a TU reversal. Only mash out the TU if they like to stick something out after the TS, it’s kind of a mind game.
The viper match when I did wakeup ultra i notices that he was not the caliber of player I usually run into. Plus I mained viper for a while. That is how I caught him in burning kick with ultra.
My problem is I anticipate to much sometimes it works really good. There was a match that I had that I beat the guy just on my wakeup game. I try to bait a wake up srk type of attack.
This should tighten up my game a bit. Just need to work on execution a bit more. I missed a couple low ts as you can see random st. mk from around half a screen away.
I am going to upload a couple more also. Thanks for the tips.
You noticed he wasn’t a “caliber of player you usually run into,” in the first 10 seconds of the match?
…that is pretty godlike.
Tell you what, I see you got a PSN. Hit me up, PSN= “MYK-jamgi” and we’ll play a first to 5 if the connection is good (4~5 bars). I can then try and tell you what I noticed from your play.
Yeah, I know. Plus it is nice because I knew all of her tricks, hence while I waited on his 3x fake to ultra. I think that is my best tool. People follow patterns it is real easy to notice, its human nature.
Once you mess up the guys pattern they panic.
I got two more videos from the same night. If you want to take a look.
Thanks a lot. I will have to make sure and try that out.
jabbing
When I c.lk, I have a hard time getting 3 hit combos. This is in training mode. Its almost as if this c.lk is too slow to keep comboing, even though I hit it so fast.
For example, I jump in with a lk, then try to do 2 more c.lk, and sometimes it will combo into 3, most times it will only combo twice.
This is not a problem with Ken or RYu, as their jabbing is ultra fast. So its not me hitting the jab too slow.
I do get a 3 hit combo sometimes, but not other times, I don’t know why. Anyone know whats up here?
You need to have a better punish than throwing. c.mp xx TU is a simple one you can use.
You need to work on reacting to FAs a little better. This was really evident in a Blanka match.
You need to AA more consistently. The Ryu you faced was jumping all day, it wasn’t until the last round that you started AAing.
What are some good drills to do in training mode to increase reaction time?
y r jumping in with lk? r u trying to cross-up? if u r just going for a jump-in then use j.mp or j.hk… u get a lot of time to continue with a string afterwards…
however if u r trying to cross-up with j.lk then u have to hit it really late to combo off of it… if cr.lk is not connecting then try cr.lp… i usually just do cross-up j.lk, cr.lp xx LTS to make sure i get the combo off…
set the cpu dummy to level 8 then counter everything it does? lol…
LOL you are trying to be funny that’s cute.
Anyway I was thinking of more like cues. I think someone set up something to do with random attacks or something in a video. I forget who the guy was though.
