Sagat Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

I was reading the help a noob thread just because I still consider myself a noob since I cant do anything by will. And I went in training mode and see what my srk input looks like and its this.

:r: :df: :d: :db: :d: :df: :df: + :hp:

Is this bad for doing an SRK? Since the motion is :dp: + :hp:

I tried for a while and I can shorten it to 5 motions but it still seems long.

just my thoughts

All you technicallly need for a TU is

:df: :df: + :hp:

So basically anything you can think of mashing around, as long as it hits :df: twice is gonna most likely be a TU.

You want to get the normal motion right as it’s quicker and more accurate, last thing you want is a high tiger shot coming out as an opponent is jumping in at your face.

:r: :d: :df: :r: + :hp:

DP’s are on reaction, so every second counts. Just my thoughts

Example:

You’re doing this:

:r: :df: :d: :db: :d: :df: :df: + :hp:

You end in :df: :df: + :hp:

That’s why you’re getting a DP, the rest of the inputs are superfluous.

Hope this helps, any more questions don’t be afraid to ask

Don’t worry about the inputs, just do the motion you’re doing as fast as you can, extra inputs don’t matter.

But if you are still struggling, just try the motion :df: :d: :df: + :hp:

It’s nothing more than a wiggle, d-pad or stick, and it works due to SF4’s input training-wheels.

Yeah I am doing that for his bnb combo and I am getting around 40% accuracy on completing it. I have different grips for both sides and I am trying to do it one way to get consistency.

I try to jam the stick in :df: when I do my TUs. Will doing the TU on the peak of their jump always win clean or do you have to wait a little longer?

I am going to post some videos of my online g2 matches for some criticism. I expect the worse  but I take a lot out of it.

if you’re using a square gate, just pull the stick down and wiggle back and forth. Regardless of your grip, just wiggle while making sure you’re pulling down on the stick the whole time

Any advice to land Kara TU with F+HK consistantly?

One smooth motion.

Don’t wait to actually see the the F+HK. Just do the F+HK as part of the TU motion. So it would be like this.

:r:+:hk::d::df::p:

yes

Same thing for kara tiger knee

:r:+:lk::d::df::k:

Both moves can be EX-'d at

About how many times out of 10 should i land H.TU, FADC, High Kick, to Ultra? Right now I’m at 2/10 starting from a combo. Also whats a good non-jump combo to the Ultra setup?

you should be landing it 100% of the time. Keep practicing. It will eventually become second nature and you will be using it in your matches in no time.

What is kara?

They are referencing kara throwing in which you start a move to get extra reach on the throw.
You can think of it kind of like a cancel I guess.

woa wait up. Are there any differences/advantages to Kara’ing with HK instead of LK?

Ah, okay thanks!

Faster but a tad bit less range.

Yeah just from eyeballing it I would say it’s maybe 4 or 5 frames faster.

Great for when you do Sagat’s back throw and you wanna close in fast with a Kara knee for wake-up shenanigans.

what can sagat’s fake kick be used for in actual matches?

baiting aka faking the other player out?

noob question-What is a crossup and does sagat have ?

just standing fierce kick a few times, hit them or zone them, then randomly throw out a few fake kicks mixed in. Your opponent is now informed that you have a juke out in your arsenal and subconsciously has one more thing to think about.

also

spam fierce kick a few times and then pause for a brief moment, then pop a fake kick out. Most inexperienced players will react to the fake kick since they are waiting for your sagat to make any kind of movement. You should have enough time to block/counter their move.

these are my experiences with the strange fake kick but then again I play with low level players…
