Ah, the fabled st.RH kick opens many options to Sagat. On that note, I quite agree with you. But what if you’re taking on a Focus whore who’s staying right in Sagat’s personal area? I’m just trying to collect some info about Sagat.
Edit: Drian, what are your strats against Fei Long normally?
I just feel like he’s really easy to read… if I shoot tiger shots to keep him out, he’s probably gonna do the flip kick thing to get past it at some point. Up close he uses the punches and flame kicks. Focus attacks are big, so I always watch out for that. I use a lot of tiger knees and tiger shots mainly.
I play a lot vs akuma, and he is smaller that it may seems, so when he fear pressure he just ducks and a lot of times the tiger knee 2nd hit just don’t hit him, or goes right over him, giving him a free grab on me.
I was messing around the wiki with the framedata and noticed that f+lk forces stand… it’s a “slow” move, i usually cancel this into tk or tu to gain range, but my question is:
is it possible to use it to force stand on opponent and then lk or mk tiger knee without giving him time to duck and thus force him to standing block the 2 hits?
That’s interesting. The Tiger Knee is exactly what I’m usually looking for when playing against Sagat. Alot of the players I found start off the match with either a HK Tiger Knee or they immediately jump back as soon as the match starts.
When playing against Sagat, I try to stay inside Sagat’s range constantly poking and trying to bait out the TU or TK. Fei’s small enough that the TK’s (MK/HK) go over him and I get a free HP xx Rekka combo or a HP xx Flame Kick > FADC > lk. CW > Ultra combo (If I’m feeling ballsy enough…lol). I try to stay close enough to render the TS’s useless by Reversal lp Rekka. Most TS’s at close range are usually always followed by a TU > FADC.
The “force stand” only happens when you hit someone with it. If they block it crouching, they’ll stay crouching unless the opponent themselves blocks standing.
It seems your problem is your Tiger Knee usage and spacing. You should always be using MK knee unless the situation calls for different ranges. With that said, don’t use HK knee as general ground pressure as it goes over basically everyone when they’re crouching and will usually lead to your own frame disadvantage. Sometimes we all get unlucky with knee spacing, but practice your knee block strings enough and it’ll be something you won’t have to worry about.
What is is best combo after a TU if you have no ultra? Right now i do tu,fadc,TK Another question is it possible to land anything after his extu besides his ultra.
TU, FADC, High Step Kick, EX LTS is the most damaging combo after TU when you don’t have ultra. And I do not believe that anything combos off of EX TU other than the Ultra… but I’d absolutely love to be proven wrong.
I don’t have sf4 in front of me right now, but I’d say after fadc, you might be better off with just a tiger knee, as opposed to f.rh unless you have ex meter for the tiger shot, I dizzy most people with the follow up knee, can someone check the stun data on that for me compared to just doing a forward roundhouse after fadc, or the stun data on the ex tiger shot after f. rh. I’ll check it tonight if no one posts the info up by the time I get home.
Could you explain what you mean by spacing you better? I don’t think that there is a substantial difference. Pretty much all of sagat’s moves after a TU FADC launch people across the screen.
I wouldn’t bother with the ex LTS after F-RH. Generally not worth the meter even if I’m at super stock unless it was the killing blow.
Try doing mk TK after F-RH, sometimes you get lucky and score a crossup knock down that isn’t scaled, and doesn’t cost any meter. Even if the knee doesn’t land it’s a pretty safe crossup for sagats dismal mixup game.
