I’m having problems facing Abel players. Can you guys post your strategies or videos indicating what to do when you are up against Abel. The problems I have are that I can’t use tiger shots like I do with other players. I can’t get to close because he can do a fierce throw(this is also true or cross ups as well).
During the b&b after I FADC I always end up going on the other side of the opponent so I can’t get the roundhouse off. Just like what LI Joe does in this video at the 3.50 mark.
Anyone have the same issue and how did you get past it? Am I dashing too soon?
I have this problem pretty frequently too, would also like an answer to this
I had the same probelm at first. After you FADC, you just walk up to your falling opponent. Press Roundhouse when legs are right above/in front of your head. As you’re walking, it will look like you will walk past the body but that will not be the case. Zack Effron, oops i mean Ken, will land right in front of you for a perfecr Roundhouse to Ultra.
FADC back and ull never have any problem with counter uppercuts . u can still do forward hk on counter hit with fadc back.
You miss out on the damage of the fHK, but yes that’s probably safer
Also, you’re kicking too early… let them fall a bit.
There are two situations where I pass under the opponent during an FADC. The first is when I accidentally dash twice (this seems to be an odd muscle-memory quirk from when I was a bit slower at doing FADC’s, though I’ve noticed it happens to other people as well). That just takes practice to repair, and I rarely do that anymore.
The other, which is what appears to happen in that video, is when I do the high step kick too soon, and its forward motion carries me under the opponent as they reach the apex of their vertical movement. If you wait the tiniest moment, they should fall right into the right spot that you’ll move forward against them, rather than under them, and the kick should connect.
im having a hard time beating guile and rog players are there any tips to beat them?
So fadc back works exactly the same as fadc forward for following up with f.hk + ultra?
Thank you both. I’ll practice this tonight.
you can hit a High Kick if the uppercut was a counterhit, you’ll see they will fly like rotating in the air if it was a counter, in a normal situation they just fly backwards.
In a counterhit (rotation) you can hit a High Kick (even if you backdash, actually its easier)
No counterhit into backdash, you have to hit an instant ultra.
lately my bnb combo has been j.mk st.mk followed by lk tk. to mix it up i might throw in a j.mp cr.mp followed by mp tu. (i usually rarely throw the punch combo if the kick combo is working effectively). i also zone high and low and mainly b.hk to stop the jump ins.
my question is should i ditch my kick combo and replace with ones i see posted like cr.lk and cr.lp combos?
i know there are bnb combos posted but to ditch those from what i’ve been using would be a big step
Yeah, I see Jap. players backdash their TU alot for some reason. They miss out on quite a bit of damage…
Just curious if any of the sagat players here have aggressively implemented TU dashback into their play and if they find it worth it?
And also…why one would TU backdash in the first place? Is it a safety measure?
do you guys crouch before doing an uppercut or do u just do the regular f, d, df motion?
is the df, d, df shortcut better since it brings sagat lower if they jump in?
nope
the shortcut isn’t that great as sometimes you get a high tiger shot. just learn to DP on reaction to jump ins. if you don’t have meter, but want to land an ultra, just wait a bit longer and do a normal DP. it will trade and you get forward round house ultra
Good question. I too would like to hear what the answer is for this.
So you don’t get messed up on a counter hit, I believe.
or this
It could also be because they have 2 meters stocked up, and ultra meter. They want to do a random dp, but dont want it to be safe. DP, back dash is safe, if you hit, you get to land your ultra, if you don’t hit you back dash to safety and can’t be hit or thrown. It comes down to preference.
I prefer to dash forward, if I hit I can land my combos / ultra etc, if I don’t hit I can grab, if they have been teching my throws I can just DP them again or sweep / overhead whatever.
You can still ultra if you forward-dash a counter hit, its 2 main things.
1.- Yeah its safer, so if you are playing someone above your level, or equal, backdash is better, unless you hit the uppercut in a combo.
2.- If you hit it as an antiair is very possible to hit a counter hit, so backdash is always better on an AA situation.
now, why go into instant ultra if you backdash a counterhit? well, if you wait to see if it was a counterhit or not, most likely you’ll miss the ultra, if you backdash just buffer for the ultra, if you forward dash, wait for the high kick. Also you don’t lose a “ton of damage”
After a blocked focus attack and dashing forward, what are the best pokes to do? I usually go for throw, but then my opponent starts the wise up. Should I go for the 3 cr.lp block string or the cr.lk, cr.lk, cr.lp block string?
Also, Is cr.mp always better to use than cr.mk?
