No way Capcom would put that much work into exclusive content. It would just piss everybody off. It just free upon the contents release if you get the Special Edition.
These characters have already been revealed so I’m betting they’ve already been made and will be tweaked until the game comes out, so likely they’ll already be on the disc. They’re doing the same BS from SF4 having to pay for something that’s already on the disc. When I pay for DLC I expect it’s for something that they couldn’t get finished by the time of the game’s release. I would be ok for it as long as it means that the people who will buy the CE get access to them early while everyone else will get them free a month later by a download that unlocks them.
A lot of people want more characters. Look at all this bitching about the roster. If Capcom offer us more characters after say, a year that’d be great. If you like em, you can buy em. If you don’t, then you can… you know… not buy them.
It’s only unfair when it’s already on the disc like with Jill and Shuma here (although I’ll make an exception for two characters I love) because we’re being drip fed content that’s already there for the sake of milking the maximum amount of cash from us. However if future DLC isn’t disc locked, but new content built from revenue made by the disc then where’s the fuss? It can only extend the game’s life and value.
Umm, wait, do we already know for sure that Shuma-Gorath and Jill will be in the disc?
If so, will they be there at once when we access the character select screen or will we have to download a bullshit code or something?
A lot of people will buy it and not complain for a second. IMO the way to go about this would be to only put in DLC returning characters.
Like say Strider doesn’t make the cut (he wont) but 6 months down the road they drop Strider and Omega Red as DLC. People might be less combative to the idea because unless they really were hungry for that character, they don’t feel pressured to purchase because they’ve seen it before in 2. I wouldn’t buy either of those characters because I’ve played them previously and am not really a big fan of them, so it wouldn’t bother me. Where as you on the other hand would be like OMG FU$@%@#% STRIDER YES BUY NOW!!
I think so. They’re on the SE upon release right? Usually this means a code to get rid of the restrictions on the disc. It’s a bitter pill, but I’ll swallow it for Ol’ Tentacles and S.T.A.R.S babes (even if it is Nina Jilliams ).
I would crawl through glass. THROUGH GLASS I SAY!
I see…
Hope they’re already on the disc. If so, I am defo buying the SE… if it comes out in Europe. ¬¬
Also, hoping that SE buyers don’t have to wait a fucking month to unlock them.
Unless I missed it somewhere, is there any proof you would need to pay for Jill and Shuma a month later? It wouldn’t be the first fighting game to do something like this, give you access to characters on the disc through a special edition unlock code, then unlock them for free later down the line (the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm games do this).
im pretty sure that it will come out in europe, cant say for sure whether the cool stuff like the comic and decals etc will be included but the download code for the extra characters definatlely will. if not, in essence europe will be getting an inferior version of the game without even being given the option of whether we want them or not.
Europe : ‘please capcom! we love jill and shuma gorath! please give us the option of paying extra to access them early!’
capcom : ‘no’
europe : ‘oh, that is indeed unfortunate, may i ask for what reason exactly?’
capcom : ‘just because…’
europe : cries
Ha ha. True.
I would be fine as long as I got Shuma-Gorath. Still, wouldn’t want to miss out on the comic…
crosses fingers and hopes for europe exclusive SUPER SE including 7 extra dlc characters and marvel vs capcom 3 hardcover artwork bible for the same money as regular SE
how are tournaments going to deal with the DLC characters anyway? Will they be considered legit or posibly softbanned due to not everyone needing to have them? I sure hope it’s not the latter.
No reason to soft ban them if they are legit characters, and if at the least you could still play against them online, so you can get some experience while you’re playing on your own.
I don’t think so. Sounds to me like they are available to everyone 1 month after release. The only difference with the SE is that at that time you don’t have to pay for them, you just use the code.
Assuming the MvC3 community follows in Blazblue’s footsteps, they’ll be legal.
Announcing pretty much paid dlc before the game is even out. Fuck off Capcom
I’ll wait till the game is under $20, and I still won’t pay for your money grubbing DLC.
Or…just don’t buy the game? By the time it’s under $20 it’ll be pointless to buy the game anyway. By just waiting to buy it when the price goes down isn’t a statement.
You’re right. The thing is, I want to play it, but this shit is down right stupid. I guess my money goes elsewhere next year. O well, hype -100% now.
IF this is how we get Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Silver Surfer, Pheonix Wright, Venom, Volnutt, Batsu, Jedah…etc etc I’m all for it.
this. my hype is absolutely dead about this game
