Ryu Season 3.5 Official Patches "Cammy just got better...yet again!"

Lol, I’m all excited thinking Ryu has the most powerful counter with VT2, and then I see that Karin’s VT2 is also a counter except she can cancel special move recovery into it…

Active on one frame?
You man 1 frame start up?
This sounds great.

Also, confirmation on c.MK buff:

So basically when someone tries to do this to us in S3, we can just parry that now?

This does explain why we’re not getting Evil Ryu now. Meaty’s attacks don’t work anymore.

He can land fb then dp in denjin mode now?!?!
That is crazy man!
I took a 2 month break because I got tired of losing to stupid v-trigger come backs but now I am all in AE with Ryu.

More good news, Ryu gets a real legit tick throw with st. LP now

Good thing …but what about cr mk hado ? It connect from max range or no ?

In VT1 mid-screen, cr.hp to EX hado to Shoryu does freakin’ 300 damage and 500 stun.

His c.MK seems extended, but only by a hair, it may be a small square on the training’s Grid, if that.

Yesterday (pre-patch) against a dummy Ryu, my Ryu’s foot would overlap the dummy’s whole foot and a little of my heel would extend over it and still whiff. Today, my Ryu’s foot can still completely overlap the dummy’s foot and whiff, but if I get any closer to have the heel extend over the foot, then it hits.

Also, normal Hadokens will not combo at max range, though a EX Hadoken will.

That video really is starting to make me cater to VT2 without question, the ability to stop momentum or pressure characters, resetting things to neutral, the ridiculous damage potential and the fact that you can use it more than once per activation! I definitely like it.

I really can’t wait to get back home again tonight and spend my time on this game.

Damage comparisons with some new combos vs old, pardon the editing.

V1 seems strange, lots of utility for not a hell of a lot more damage. Less in some cases.

Also, I can usually get the same extra DP juggle in V2 (or when V1 is not active) by doing an EX DP.

The new buffs on fireballs are pretty good, especially in v trigger. You can now safely frame trap 3 frame normals when canceling into lvl2 fireballs. No need to use ex to avoid getting punished.

Did ryu only get 6 fireballs in s2? I’m getting 8 in v trigger s3.

Getting a meaty off of throw now is great too.

He got 7 before when you fired all consecutively I think.

The leaked balance info said hadokens don’t consume meter but it’s unfortunately not the case.

St.HP not comboing in VT2 was incredibly lame. The decision maker on that one has got to be the biggest dork of all time…

I’m digging VT2 for things like Bison’s EX headstomp though.

Also, I’m fully expecting a “complementary balance patch” that’ll nerf VT2 by Spring.

Daigo The Beast Umehara playing S3 Ryu…it brings tears to my eyes…

Early Season 3 Ryu player by The Beast himself

Skip to 16 seconds as stated by the video description since the from 0:00-0:15 the sound can be heard but the game screen freezes.

I see Daigo punishing quite a bit with c.mk into Ex-Hurricane at pretty far ranges. Was this always possible w/ S2 Ryu? With the slight buff to c.mk I can see this happening. Seriously, I was so salty with how S2 Ryu turned out I barely touched him during the almost all of 2017 and went to Guile instead, so I can neither confirm nor deconfirmed if this better or not for S3.

I’ve been using VT2 only since AE dropped. And it’s basically what I thought it would be, it’s a deterrent. I rarely even attempt to use it, I just keep it around to remind my opponent that it’s there. Suddenly the cross ups stops, they start empty jumping, block strings turn into 1 move and then nothing, they always throw on wake up, etc.

And then some of them get comfortable and forget I have it or are convinced I’m not even going to use it and that’s when I finally do land it sometimes. I feel like I don’t even have a VT sometimes. I just turn on the ability to change my opponents play style lol. It’s nice to have that edge but it’s just not that fun when you’re not consistently landing it. That’s why I really wish VT1 was 3 bars and 25-30 seconds instead. Those DP juggles look so sexy, but that timer is still so short even if they did extend it a bit.
