It’s amazing how well Viper fits in mvc3. Her only downfall is her health.
dp fireball and meter build. That’s what she has. Her illusion timer special might make for delicious stuff. She has a flight cancel for fireball and dp. And a command grab.
My problems with Chris are getting rushed down without a mine on the ground, and vs. people landing on my head. Flamethrower really doesn’t cover your dome, or when people try to cross you up. However, when it does hit and people try to air tech forward, just flamethrower again for EVEN MORE ABSURD CHIP. And you can repeat until they land on your head, behind you, or learn to stop doing that.
My thoughts on Taskmaster/Chris/Haggar is that Task builds crazy meter and I can sometimes OCV people with just him. Chris can Magnum into lvl 3 fullscreen which is nice, and Haggar can usually clean up pretty well, and as I mentioned before, he’s a good GTFO button for Chris and Taskmaster. Also, lvl 3 XFC with Haggar pretty much means land a hit and the opponent is dead, as long as they aren’t zoning you real well.
I’ll mess with using them in Chris/Haggar/Taskmaster order though and see what’s good.
You shouldn’t be having rushdown issues with Haggar/Chris/Taskmaster. Lariat friggin’ shuts down any attempt to get in on Chris on the ground and Task arrows deal with aerial shenanigans.
I’m assuming you mean Morrigan?
Any suggestions for a third member? I main Hagger/Sent/?
I’m looking for someone who can hold their own if it comes down to being the last man standing, fuck Jean Grey.
Hulk it is. Can’t really beat that. Thanks for the tip!
I was going to recommend Phoenix, but since you don’t like here you can go with:
Arthur: put him on point and play keepaway with his javelins and sent’s assist, use Haggar’s double lariat if they get in close for a free super with Arthur.
Chun-Li: Go with Haggar/Sent/Chun, Sent’s assist keeps them away, Chun’s kicking assist(not sure name) is great if they get in. Also Chun is a beast with level 5 X-Factor
I run hulk/haggar/sent to good results, although pure zoning teams such as sent/dorm/doom or arthur/doom/sent gives this team problems
if u get them in the corner haggar giant press can DHC into hulk gamma crush for huge damage
also lariat -> rapid punches DHC into gamma crush anywhere on screen
I was just messing around with Haggar / Hulk DHC’s last night, and you can actually DHC Giant Press into Gamma Crush ANYWHERE on screen. The trick is to do the motion for GC backwards when you’re not in the corner.
It needs to be timed right, but it’s not too strict. Basically, right after Haggar lands the Giant Press (mid-screen), input QCF + PP, and Hulk will usually come in and hit them with Gamma Crush. The reason this works is because, after Giant Press, haggar is technically behind the opponent, so the QCF+PP essentially becomes QCB+PP, Hulk will jump in from the other side and hit them on the way up with GC, getting you the full damage. Sometimes it looks like Haggar is still in front of the opponent, but the opposite motion is still required for the GC, and it needs to be done right before the opponent falls back to the ground again from the Press. If you do GC too early or too late after the Press, Hulk will hit them on his way up, but only get 1 hit on the way down.
But this also has a 2nd use. The reason you always want to input what “feels” like QCF+PP is because, if for whatever reason Haggar is still in front of the opponent after the Press (which can happen on occasion), you’ll still get a DHC into Gamma Wave. It’s sorta like a “DHC option select”.
Things become a lot simpler when you’re in the corner. Just DHC with QCB+PP for the Gamma Crush. Everything works as it should.
If you have a 3rd meter, and someone with a long ranged hyper, you can DHC again after Gamma Crush. For example, if I have Taskmaster after Hulk, i can DHC into his horizontal arrows after GC. But again, outside of the corner you need to input Taskmaster’s hyper in the opposite direction, and early enough to hit them while they’re still reeling in the air.
1 jumping pipe with Haggar can lead to 950K+ damage with these DHC’s (Pipe -> st.M -> S -> j.M, j.M, j.H, j.Pipe -> Giant Press -> DHC Gamma Crush -> DHC horizontal arrows).
yea i experimented with giant press into gamma crush midscreen before u mentioned this, but i couldnt get it to be more than 50% reliable. Haggar’s positioning before he does the press has to be pretty precise.
I like this. I’ve been playing Arthur/Haggar/Sentinel. Sent drones help immensely with Hag’s rushdown, and you can DHC pretty much any Haggar super into Golden Armor. Arthur with golden armor + Sent drones + projectile spam is pretty outrageous. Look out for Super Skrull, though.
I like this team because Haggar is so in your face with dat pipe so when you switch to Arthur people are on the defensive and suddenly they realize you WANT them on the defensive because you’re chipping their lives away.
But Arthur has such low health and losing that Golden Armor can be a bit of a liability. I’ve been thinking of swapping Arthur for Task for the reasons you stated - good projectiles. Arthur’s might be better but he has garbage mobility and his combos are fine but you can hardly get in. Whereas Taskmaster can rush down like a beast.
I’m finally starting to settle into a team , Im using Amaterasu(Bloom) /Haggar (lariat) /Sentinel (Sentinel Force) . Why you ask?
its really easy to throw out a haggar assist at the end of ammys combos and then connect any of ammys hypers and ammy deals with all of haggar and sentinels weakness, As haggar I can spam bloom while comboing to build meter for when sentinel comes out (sentinel NEEDS meter to hang with the big boys in zoning matches) It also lets me do this with ammy:
,:h:+:a2:,:f:+:h:,:h:,:h:,:h:,(Missiles Hit),:f:+:h:,:h:,:h:,:a1:,:h:,(lariat Hits),:qcf:+:atk::atk: or:dp:+:atk::atk:
If the missiles connect, you can x-factor, and it will 100% most characters, if you use the level 3 hyper, it will 100% low health characters without x factor. I could make the combo longer, but the fact is getting hit by this sort of thing seems to really piss people off… they get salty, and they start making mistakes, thats when I bring out haggar.
Basically it’s a five step process:
(Disclaimer: I doubt this would work too well online…you have to be able to gauge your opponents attitude and while SOMETIMES you can do that based exclusively on playstyle, its not a common occurrence)
1.Use ammy to piss them off. either with cold star cheese, solar flare reversals or really stupid looking high damage combos. Some trash talk is tactically appropriate here. Considering Im using ammy, Im very conservative with meter, I only use it If I know its going to kill a character or put them in a spot where one short combo is all it will take to kill them. Reason being at that point they will tag out giving me a free shot at the incoming character, or a good opportunity to switch to haggar safely if ammy is damaged.
2.Bring in haggar to exploit their angry/overly aggressive playstyle. This is where I do most of the damage and build most of my meter (via not using any hyper combos, and spamming bloom assist)
3.When I hit 5 bars, its time to look at getting sentinel in to spend them (usually via DHC but sometimes team aerial combo). If I didnt use xfactor early on for a 100% combo with ammy, this is a good time to look at whether or not I want to do horrible things to them with sentinel,or just burn bars away and tag haggar or ammy back in.
If they are playing carefully an methodically, its ammy so I can piss them off THEN haggar, if they are still pissed, and/or they kept their cool in the first place (rare but it happens) then its haggars turn again.
4.???
5.PROFIT!
Ok guys i’m in need of major help with my decisions. My team is Morrigan, She-Hulk, and Haggar. I love my team a lot and have been getting pretty good with haggar. My only issue is getting in on my opponent especially if he’s a keepaway. I don’t want to change my team members especially She-Hulk after all the hard work I had to put in her. So my question is, does Morrigan and She-Hulk have any assists that help Haggar get in? Morrigan has her fireball but I don’t know if it’s effective or not.
tbh.
You might have to change your team around.
Haggar and She-Hulk are pretty bad against Keepaway, you will just be losing Health trying to get in.
Morrigan’s Fireball probably isnt good or fast enough to help.
Been running Amaterasu (Cold star)/Haggar (Lariat)/Sent (Drones).
Been playing Amaterasu/Sentinel since the start, switched the second character around a lot, but I’ll probably stick with Haggar. (At least until Shuma comes out…) I’m kinda torn whether Haggar should be first or second though. Anybody have thoughts on what to consider when positioning Haggar?
Go with 1st, unless you’re going up again keepaways, in which case put him in 2nd. Amaterasu shouldn’t lead cause she should have meter for more damage and to punish.
I’ve been testing out stuff with Haggar/Shuma/Dormammu, and they have some interesting tricks. You can Purification after a midscreen air pipe into Haggar Press and get all the hits; I was getting around 660k with a really un-optimized combo. I was using j.2c, 5s sj. j.b j.b j.c j.2c, Purification, Giant Haggar Press after the second or third hit of Purification. I’m sure someone can get better damage than me out of this.
I use Haggar(lariat)/Dormammu(dark hole)/Shuma Gorath(Mystic Ray) and I mostly use Dormammu to shut down projectiles, and Shuma to stop people from comboing/stop flight runaway. I rarely use assists in combos, but dark hole is good for starting combos if used as a punish.
Hello, citizens of Metro City!! I am thinking about choosing the best team assits for the Mayor to help him when he has to face projectile characters such as Magneto, Storm, Ryu, Akuma or characters that can give hard time to Haggar like Amaterasu and her whip. Are the projectile characters are the best team assists in this case, and using Iron Man and his beam assist would be the best solution to help Haggar on his way to keep advancing toward his ennemies??
I think the best assists to help you approach are Doom’s Hidden Missiles, Doom’s Molecular Shield, Sentinel’s Drones, Shuma Gorath’s Mystic Ray, Tron’s Gustaff Fire (it negates projectiles), Hsien-Ko’s Senpu Bu with gold armor, and Akuma’s Tatsu. Beam assists are also good.
