Running Mates: Teams/Assists

Last night I tried out Haggar/Strange/X-23 in the labs, tonight I tested it against another SRK guy online. Both tonight and yesterday I was flabbergasted. The team is amazing.

Haggar gets bolts for…well…everything. Extension is easymode and very powerful, with or without ground bounce. X-23’s ankle slice allows Haggar to combo off most of his throws midscreen or corner without the use of a ground bounce, which is very nice. They extend for days, from all sorts of confirms. Haggar also gets headbutt and ankle slice unblockables, which are fucking awesome. Strange gets an otg for scrub extensions if you don’t yet have those FoF loops, like me, and unblockables, those are good too. He also gets spin which keeps him much safer when trying to set up eyes or daggers, and even though he has no projectile assist, his ranged game is still good, and close up he gets lariat+teleport mixups. X-23 anchor is amazing, I don’t care what anyone says. So, without gimmicks, this team has fun and powerful neutral all around, which I tested a tad today. The THC is awesome with 2 or 3 meters, with 3 you can aim for an air throw afterward, but no extension. Still, you most likely won’t need it, this team gives Haggar some damage.

Now we get into gimmick/theory fighter territory. Haggar touches, hopefully with something other than a normal throw, and then he goes ham and racks up a bunch of damage, TAC to strange, have him deliver the kill through FoF loops, or do a reset, really whatever, just have Strange deliver the kill. He’s most likely using up at most one meter, and that is enough meter built, without a super or with a long neutral beforehand, so that Strange is in with 3 meters on the kill, TK an eye of agamotto so they’re forced to block it, tag in X-23 and call bolts and go into dirt nap. Bolts and the eye keeps them all sorts of still, touch them, and go on the rampage, pop XF if necessary, it may not be, but she will get the kill if you do, Haggar’s spin relaunches in XF1 with ankle slice, it’s convenient, and you can get Thorkills with just Haggar assist and XF1 without the dirt nap beforehand. Their third character is forced to eat a scary X-23 incoming mixup, even stronger with the help of lariat or bolts. GG.

Without gimmicks, and even without momentum on your side, still a good team, and one that really showcases Haggar resets(tk’ed eye into command grab stuff is great too, and dropkick plus ankle slice pops them up into that hoodlum H reset territory).

Downsides I can see:
-No safe DHCs from a lariat into rapid fire fist, so that may have to leave your system if you’re playing this team.
-Everyone does like X-factor, so it’s a shame to see it go (Haggar gets them kills easily with XF1, Strange can go Vishanti into palm loops with XF, and X-23 with XF 1-3 is death on this team), but whoever you pop it for, make sure they open someone up, and it will do a lot of damage
-It requires learning X-23 and Strange, not usually characters everyone plays (I’m a terrible strange, but I love me some Laura)

Not too bad considering the perks with or without crazy team touch-of-death stuff. I really really recommend it, and if anyone has some Haggar/Strange tech to share, I’m all ears, I’m day 1 with the pairing.

I’ve been experimenting and found that Haggar/Doom(Missiles)/Wesker(Gunshot) is fantastic. Haggar has tons of options, he can DHC, TAC, THC, and get a better BnB with it. All do more that 800,000, and the TAC into Doom does about 1.1 mil with the basic M, if you can get into an infinite it’d pry kill with just 1, maybe 2 reps. Worst comes to worse you also have Wesker as anchor. Doom’s basic corner gets extend using lariat after first rep, then double footdive, 2 more reps, Wesker assist, into H. Mole(Or Footdive into M-Level 3). Shield into Spirit Flame. Missiles also help Haggar get in while being covered. Fully mashed RFF will take long enough time in order to DHC right after a Wesker OTG into Spirit Flame. Wesker also gets Haggar’s lariat assist reset.

A little video showing off some of the things I talked about(excluding extended BnB).

How do you guys feel about Haggar/Ammy/Phoenix? I think it good in theory, but I haven’t been able to test it out because my 360 red ringed

swap ammy for sent I think it would be better

So, I’m putting Haggar on my anti-Wolverine team (I think Lariat helps Nova in the matchup), just wondering who to put in back. (Nova/Haggar/???) Haggar’s probably pretty decent with Doom Plasma Beam, yeah? Any other suggestions?

Doom could work, but I do personally think Missiles are better for Haggar. Dorm or Ammy are also good choices.

Hmm, it’s just that Plasma Beam is so much better for Nova, probably his best horizontal assist. I do play Ammy and Dorm so I’ll look into them too.

True, really depends on what you’d want in Haggar/Nova. Missiles make life a lot easier on Haggar during bad match-ups to get in while Plasma benefits Nova a lot more. Either are good choices really, I’d experiment with it, or switch it around for certain match-ups.

There’s always the option Nova/Bolts behind Haggar as well, he gets good extension and neutral from both assists, and it makes for a scary pairing once Haggar’s out.

I run Haggar with Purasama Beam, it works out fine for me. Can be used to extend combos. One minor caveat is that a THC with only Haggar and Doom leaves Haggar unsafe on hit.

From Photon Array to Million Fist? That sucks… I guess it might be better to end your combos early with Sphere Flame or super-jump-height Photon Array into Body Blerrgh… I’ll check it out later. Glad the assist is good though.

well i meant if you use the team hyper with haggar on point and only doom in back, haggar will be unsafe… but yeah, DHC into the fist super is also unsafe.

Oh. Well is a THC really necessary? He can do OTG 2H xx 6H xx Hooligan whiff xx Body Splash right?

yeah, it’s just good to know that the THC is ass!

thinking of using haggar for his great options against spencers
Im thinking of running haggar (double lariat) dante (jam session) hawkeye (greyhound)
what do you guys think?

That sounds like an amazing team in pretty much every way…

i have to learn some combos and extended combos with dante but i saw he can get up to like 1 mil off of 0 meter…

That is the optimized Haggar on point team in my opinion. I need to learn Dante asap its weird seeing so many players use him but I can seem to wrap my head around how he should be played.

hes the coolest most swag character in my opinion. And he has so many options. The best thing about playing dante is it helps with execution a lot

Got a question about Haggar/Sentinel combo synergy. At the end of Haggars combos I launch the opponent down to the ground, call sent, drop kick, drop kick again and the opponent gets hit with the drones. At this point is there anything more I can do? I have tried to do a heavy hoodlum launcher reset after the last drone hits but can’t seem to make it work. Anybody got any suggestions?
