Frank West
Assist A Shopping Cart is unaffected by Frank’s Level
After throw/Piledriver/Sky High Backdrop: Be fast. you can land pipe and combo in hoodlum L so you can ground bounce. if you’re too slow you’ll waste your ground bounce early.
After air throw: I prefer to dash and call Frank at same time then OTG. you can land pipe and combo hoodlum. if you finish with air pipe be fast so you can dash and M S
after air combo ending in qcf+S: Air Pipe(ground bounce), S jump, M H qcf+S land, call frank and OTG,pipe hits, cancel to hoodlum L, M H Pipe otg 604,900 damage.
if you do M after landing air pipe your combo ends at hoodlum L, M
after air combo ending in S (corner only): air pipe S m m H S land, otg +frank, pipe hits, cancel Hoodlum L, M S OTG. You’re better off ending with QCF+S.
Corner Combo reset: air pipe S L L M H Air Pipe, land, OTG+ Frank, Pipe hits, Violent Axe L, jump forward and Sky high backdrop. 448k + sky high damage and a reset. It flows real well.
I have Friday off. So I’ll go through Frank’s Assist B if you guys want. right off the bat it’s level dependant and doesnt seem worth it when compared to shopping cart. But if y’all want I’ll run through it anyway.
Yeah, so far I’ve been running. Haggar/Doom/Phoenix and Haggar/Spencer/Hawkeye, they’ve both been very successful, it looks like Haggar is going to be my favorite point character haha.
What are the assists that allow a full combo after Lariat, and combo after grabs?
Skrull(Orbital Grudge) and Storm(Lightning Attack) both work for grabs, but push the opponent too far for Lariat into full combo. Skrull(Stone Smite) works for both, but it uses a wallbounce, and Haggar doesn’t seem to be able to follow it up midscreen.
Deadpool(Quickwork) works, [S]but it uses the ground bounce and sometimes whiffs[/S][Edit]. It does allow for pretty sick high/low mixups with the pipe, and I already know how to play him so he’s currently my first pick. [S]His diagonal gun assist also works, and might have some utility, I’ll need to check this one up.[/S] (Does not fully works)
Jam Session[S] probably[/S] works, but I’d rather run someone original on my Haggar/xx/Taskmaster(Vertical) team.
One of the new guys would be greatly appreciated. So I far I tried Iron Fist and the Coon, but neither fully fulfills that role.
Edit: Wow Quickwork is good. It allows relaunches after Lariat without wasting the ground bounce, anywhere on the screen, after almost any 3-hit Lariat. It also works after grabs, but keeping your ground bounce requires tight timing. Same goes for regular relaunches, but once you have the timing down, that thing is godlike. Plus Pipe/Quickwork unblockables. Deadpool
600k meterless after Lariat. 400-450k after ground/air grabs. 640-700k after command grabs. 750k after air pipe/c.L. Add 100-250-400k with 1-2-3 meters. All corner-to-corner.
When playing Haggar on point, put one of the following characters in the second slot:
Amaterasu
Arthur
Chris
Chun-Li (Kikouken or Tenshokyaku)
Dante
Deadpool
Magneto (Hyper Gravitation)
Rocket Raccoon
Taskmaster (Vertical Shot)
Thor (Might Smash or Mighty Strike)
Trish (Low Voltage)
Tron
At the end of a combo in the corner with 2 bars hit d+H,f+H+THC.
Haggar can then combo afterwards with dp+L (jc) qcf+S,d+H.
If you have lots of meter, you can loop it (provided your third character doesn’t screw it up or is dead)
With certain characters you can do more damaging followups:
With Chris A: H,f+H (dash+delay) f+H,dp+L.
With Chris B/Y: H (delay) f+H,dp+L
With Dante: f+H (wait) f+H,dp+L
With Rocket: (slight delay) H,f+H,dp+L
With Tron: f+H,dp+L Vid of the Rocket Raccoon version
Also note that with Taskmaster you have to back away from the corner a bit before the THC. The easiest ways are to finish the combo with either jS,d+H,f+H(whiff),d+H or dp+L(jcb)qcf+S.
(This also applies to OTGing with certain assists, like Raccoon Spitfire)
The Ammy version is stupidly hard since the opponent flies to the floor ridiculously fast and you have to catch them on the way down.
Give Haggar an assist that helps him get in and an assist that allows him to convert off of ground pipe pokes/lockdown assist. Doesn’t take much tweaking to make him do big damage with specific assists.
Hey, right now I am running Hulk/Haggar/Strider, but I feel I need to drop Hulk and either find another character for point or move Haggar to point (which I have been comfortable with since day 1 vanilla). I am down for playing anyone except for Ammy and people who involve doing air dashes in BnBs (Like Doom or Mags). I can’t play Ammy because I can’t get the Weapon changing in the middle of a combo down and I can’t frequently get air dashes because of my controller and my lack of execution. So could someone please help me out?
@ M.D. and Densuo–Thanks for the input! I will try out Chris Haggar Taskmaster or Hawkeye in Taskmasters slot. Is there any assists that I should use? Should I just go for the ones that cover the screen (Gun Shot, Aim Master, and Greyhound) or is this a spend time in the lab to find which ones work better sort of thing?
I find that any of their assists really work. I mainly use Lariat or Pipe, Gunfire or mine and any arrows really for Task with a preference to horizontal.
Task and Chris’ Horizontal arrows + Gunfire work really well to just force chip damage with each other. things like Task Vertical arrows on incoming plus gunfire assist routinely nets me a pair of horizontal arrows.
vert arrows to force incoming block, chris gunfire assist and go to sword master.
Haggar Pipe assist’s block stun might lead to a Sword Master setup too I believe.
You can rush or play keep away with this team. Lariat gives a get off me tool. Pipe uses ground bounce, but I find it handy when I plan to use Haggar on slot two and do some Magnum stuff. it’s block stun is always nice and it’s like a poke sometimes.
@ Mankat. You could make you original team work. Put haggar on point, use vajra assist to hard knockdown opponents, then use drop kick with hulks charge forward assist for a full combo that saved your ground bounce. and with hulk strider, if you land vajra you can always gamma wave after or even hyper after that for quick good damage. Just a thought
Oh man, this made me realize, if you use Chris (Machine Gun) instead of Hulk, and use the right Alt costumes you can actually have Team Final Fight (Chris has a Cody color and Strider has a Guy one)
Still messing with Haggar/Trish/Frank West and still loving it. It’s pretty much built to level up Frank with characters I like using. I’m sure a better player can figure out even more with this team
Damn, now I know why some said Haggar and Frank are BFF. I might pick up Frank in the future, so I’ll keep in mind of that tech from Haggar’s Rapid Fist Hyper. Also, nice choice of music.
Damn, that Haggar/Trish/Frank team is reallly solid. I’ve been thinking abou picking up Frank just because he goes so well with Haggar. I was planning on running Arthur with them.
Thanks for checking out the vid y’all. NOTE: that was recorded pre-patch, so it’s easier now to get the 50+ hits from rapid fire fist.
Arthur should be nice for that team. IMO anyone with a projectile assist and a multi-hitting projectile hyper works well with Haggar and Frank for getting in. If you intend to level Frank (and you should if you want to outbullshit Wesker/Zero/Nemesis/Hulk/Vergil normals), use someone with a good projectile THC. Arthur, Trish, Taskmaster (Gimlet from Hawkeye sucks for hits) and others will definitely work fine to level Frank to at least 4 if you have 2 bars. Just a failsafe if you don’t manage to land the Haggar/Frank level 5 setup.
Just to add to that it also works with MODOK if he has at least 5 LoU. Kind of redundant I know as that situation will probably never ever be practical to set up.
Decided not to use fist on my team. Been rocking Haggar/Ryu/Doctor Strange in that order.
Ryu’s Tatsu is the main assist for comboing, but I can get a pipe strange’s bolts of balthakk into a body splash. Total combo does at least 753,000 off a light with assists+hyper. 610,000-650,000 meterless with assists. 593,000-598,000 solo. (Why did nobody tell me haggar hit so hard, if only his hypers weren’t so mediocre.)
Main problem I have with this team is zoners. Bolts of Balthakk only covers so much of the screen and seems to not have much durability. Strange can uproot them but haggar doesn’t seem to stand a chance against a good trish.
