Rose Strategies and Match-ups

F hk, will catch him as he comes out of teleport as long as you aren’t right next to him when he does it. If I know the Akuma player I’m facing is teleport happy, I’ll try to not play him at point blank range, instead I use slides and dashes to stay just out of sweep range. From here you can soul spiral, f hk, EX soul spark, or just sweep him if he tries a teleport.

It comboes easily after C HP, which ofcourse is a lousy move, but means you can do it after any Jumpin, hard whiff punish or crumple

Well…any deep jump-in yeah, and true on the other situations…but why reflect and not spiral? It’s more likely to hit and does a bit more damage?

Because if you have super the hp reflect sets up the juggle to super. If you don’t have super then a spiral would be fine. Or you can do a mp reflect to knock them away and create some space if you feel like you’re getting pressured.

There’s never an opportunity where reflect is better unless MAYBE you know they will block and you think reflect will push them back instead of blasting a drill into them that will be punished. But even so, that doesn’t bring the super into it. If you are concerned about hit confirming it there are many cr.lp strings that lead into the same drill xx super combo yet still gain much more pushback (and are safe on block)

No combo or juggle using reflect as the starter has more damage than a drill xx super cancel. It’s not there. If you want to have style and do it, that’s fine. Everyone needs a little flash sometimes, but beyond that there is no argument here. Damage scaling is a non issue since it is the same, and reflects damage i believe is 90, whereas drill is like 130

that said, against someone that was a tool and I could do it safely without needing the damage, I would definitely consider juggling them into super (and then taunting of course).

Well yeah, but spiral combos to super too. I just don’t see the utility of the juggle vs the normal (to me) combo.

All very true. But it sure looks nice!
Drill into super is immediate, while reflect into super is a delayed juggle, which might give your opponent a brief moment of false hope. It’s mental harassment, really.

I prefer the juggle for this reason…and was stated an added taunt really drives them nuts, especially if you are using her #4 taunt where she turns her back and laughs…

Does Rose have a Kara thow? if so, what is it?. Same goes for tick throws.

no she does’t unfortunalty, me im having a hard time againts good dictators. Its not the headstomp or the devil’s reverse. Those things a re easy to deal with once you play the macthup enougth. The problem is scissors kick, a lot of dictator players are just not afraid of just trowing it out because the LK version is safe, and thats pretty much all he needs to do againts Rose to win. He knocks her down then goes from crossup combo/trow. Trow out a scissors kick to knock her down if it trades with a normal oh well she got knocked down but he din’t. If its blocked oh well free chip and if she jumped straight up it doest matter cause i recover quick enougth to block he air move. She can catch him with Ultra when he sciccors kciks but thats really hard to do if he’s close to you, and she needs to have Ultra to do it. Im still expereminting with her pokes to see what would stuff it out but it seems like there’s nothing that would stop him from trowing it out and hoping he gets lucky.

Lol, I was just about to post up about how I got RAPED by this Japanese Bison player. BTW c.mp beats scissore.

Anyway, I never felt so helpless. Granted I won both times I got Rose via Random Select, but holy hell those were the toughest wins I ever earned. Dude was ON POINT with Bison. And yean scissor pressupr is a bitch and a half. I was too scurred to try ex drill, but that seems like her only way out besides stuffing it with c.mp. That dude made me afraid of every Bison I will ever face in the future now.:wasted:

i’ve tried using cr.strong to beat his sciccors sometimes it trades and if you get knocked down its over, i’ll try to space it better to see if i have more succes beating it.

hay guise?

Do you really think Rose belongs there?

Sure why not? She has no reliable reversal, her combos suck, do little damage, and her soul throw is pretty much unusbale unless your’re psychic or you’re playing against Sim.
She also has no way to combo into Ultra like most of the cast.

She doesnt dominate any matchups at all really and as such has a good chance of losing against anyone. Everyone stop playing Rose now. She’s ass…

then who will u play?

Damn was it that hard to sense the sarcasm?

nah not really

Let them think that she’s that low ranked I say. It’ll be all the more shocking when they get beat with her. I really disagree about her soul throw being useless though. I really don’t have much trouble in reacting to a jumping opponent with it. The best thing about the ST is that it moves very fast across the screen and more often then not the ST connects before they can react. More than that it can also be used as a punish for several moves or to counter them.

ST can be used to punish blanka balls on block or intercept them all together.
ST can be used to punish dictators head stop on block (especially if they go for the follow up) or intercept it before it hits.
ST can be used to punish blocked flash kicks from guile
ST can be used to punish blocked shoryukens (this one is only really if you want to piss off your opponent because you’d much rather go into a combo for more damage)
ST can be used to punish blocked cannon spikes from Cammy, it can intercept hooligan throws and spinning backfists.
ST can take out all of the shotos in their hurricane kicks.

And there are several more instances where a ST can be handy. It’s really not a useless move if you apply it effectively and don’t only think of it as an anti air.

I just can’t understand why she’s listed so low. I have my problems with her, but seriously, dead last? Regardless, I’ve never stopped playing anyone because of tiers, and that won’t change now.

That list is bullshit. I think the one you guys are talking about is from an incomplete translation of a Japanese matchup chart that wasn’t accurate to begin with. It’s been updated since, but for instance Sakura’s matches are now very silly. The early version that had Rose at the bottom also had Dan with almost all 5/5s, which is an indication that they either hadn’t finished the chart or had no idea what the match was.

I think it’s mostly right on some things, but this is lkely just some random guy’s opinion.
