Oh it’s hella fun if your block strings and tick throw game is good. And if yout post-throw mixup is good, they’ll never know what you’re going for after a throw. My record is 6 throws in a row. I had to be a jerk and see how many I could get in a row since I knew I had my opponent afraid of the ambiguous crossup on their wakeup:rofl:
FADC MP/FP Soul Spark post throw is the truth.
Seriously, no. The way i see it she has some of the best normals in the game. Problem is they don’t combo into much of anything. c.mp is some sick stuff.
If you wanna rush with rose, rape people with c.mp and force them to block, haha.
Well not really, but her normals are good. Not A2 good but good.
I tend to find that after a s.HK>WP Spark, a LOT of people always try to sweep her out if she’s close. Damn, I love that s.HK. It’s killed off more Ken’s and Akuma’s that I can count.
I thought you gave up on Rose cause she was TURRBLE, Brandino? Dropped Viper? haha. She’s still mine, I called dibs and you abandoned her lol. I can deal with two Rose players in the state, though…it was funny how before the game came out, like half of NC was like WOAMG PLAYING ROSE NOW and then once it drops, they all head back to character select. I did manage to get 5th with her, but I think that’s mostly due to match unfamiliarity on their part.
Re: Blanka, yeah, you can jab balls. We need to experiment with the hitboxes of MK, MP, HK etc to see if anything reliably beats them clean. Blanka shouldn’t be able to just do random balls, EX or otherwise. If he’s trying to cross you up with vertical, I’ve had near 100% success cr.HPing it, granted he’s an idiot and does the move in a neutral situation.
Chun and Gief’s jump properties own me on a regular basis. Gief’s jumps are so short that i end up whiffing cr.hp and watching him spd/ultra me to his hearts desire. Chun seems to be more floaty and I whiff it before she lands. Also that cross up flip kick does a number on me.
while i realize cr.hp is an anti air… on hit while they are on the ground they still come out of it with so much frame advantage I might has well have given them their biggest combo.
none of these are specific rose matchup nuances more than just my personal gripes, but so be it. Blanka and Gief matches are the sole thing causing my BP to cap. Also Dictators with good block strings (like grifter on my friends list) give me a hard time too.
Well, part of that could be solved by canceling the cr.HP into something, couldn’t it?
I know jump properties can throw me off as well, but the more we play it’s something we’ll get used to dealing with.
I’ve had some problems anti-airing a Blanka, seems he got though the C HP pretty easy. Same with Chun, but this time it looked more because of her double-hitter. Probably I am not used to the timing against these chars.
Btw; played a good Dhalsim last night. didnt find much answer to his teleports. He relied on attackking from the air with them. I would’ve loved to soul throw it, but the direction switch is quite fast.
Against teleporting Sims backdash can really screw them up and force an unexpected direction change where you will be behind them instead. Neutral jump is another good option. I also like to FA but this is risky as you could be facing the wrong direction if done too early.
Most Sims love to jump a lot so this is another match where Soul Throw comes in handy. EX soul throw can catch a back jumping sim from almost full screen.
If you are referring to canceling into something while on the ground then yes it will work. Obviously we both know you can’t cancel from a whiffed attack. Either way, throwing out the Cr.HP against a grounded opponent is never a good idea, and the times I did it were mostly poor judgement on my part timing wise.
I gotta tell ya I love her cr.hp anti air into sweep. Yes it can be blocked or worse yet reversed and you get hit. But because of the distance away no one every thinks you are going to throw your foot out so far. I’d say 50% of them time I get the extra hit and knockdown from it. I don’t pull it on skilled players, but against the scrubs its fun
That’s pretty much the main reason why I said her normals aren’t that great. Granted they’re not the worst normals in the game they’re not that great and it doesn’t help that the better characters they have some pretty damaging stuff while Rose is stuck with lackluster damage on top of that lacking a traditional DP. Also what’s so great about C.MP? I’m just not seeing what’s so good about it.
I never really gave up on Rose, but more like I never really gave her a chance since I started out with Viper and liked her so much. Although playing Loborine this past weekend reminded me why I hate characters who can’t really take that many hits. Even though Rose is so much of a different character compared to what I’m used to I think I can adjust.
Would’ve typed this earlier, but my internet crapped out on me during lunch.
I keep hearing that sliding Cr. MK can actually slide under fireballs. I’ve managed to pull this off ONCE from point blank range by mistake and I think it was just because my hitboxes were under ryu’s hands when he threw it hence why I slid under. Can you do this from any range to slide under and if so what’s the timing on it?
I do it a lot but it’s always on accident. Even under Sagat low tiger shots. Ive tried doing it intentionally in training mode without success.
Never done it, except when I stuffed a shinku that would have chipped me for the win. Hadn’t come out yet though, I don’t think. edit: and this was in a tournament, which put me further up in winners…if I had won the next match, I would have gots money. Oh well, beast Guile old school’d me too hard.
I think you’d be better off with reflect/focus/etc. Sliding under -high- Tigers though is plenty easy and effective. I wonder if you can slide under, like…Honda headbutt or Blanka ball? Better yet, supers/ultras…lol. Damn not being able to program things in training mode.
It’s hard to explain without visual aid, but it’s almost like a fireball’s lentgh away from you is when you wanna slide. You can go under ex/ Ryu’s super AND ultra, low tiger shots and I haven’t tried against kikoken since it just goes away eventually.
And as I see it right now, Rose vs Blanka is looking a lot like the Cammy vs Honda matchup in ST. I hope to God I’m weron since it would be even worse since Rose has no dp:sad:
Sliding works ok on fast fireballs, but gets destroyed on slow ones. The best use I found is to slide under Ryu’s Ultra or Super. Bit useless, but it steals the show
Ew. I really hope not man. It’s gotta be better than that.
Thanks for the slide info.
I dont see how Blanka is such a bad matchup for Rose. I think it’s fairly even. So what he can EX ball SS. You can Ultra any ball he does for free. Mixup threaten FA/SS anytime he walks forward. This conditions him to not use slide so that you can full screen SS when he doesnt have EX. You might have to eat a few EX balls if he wants to turtle just as he might take the risk and ball if you have life lead and want to turtle.
Anytime I lose vs Blanka recently its due to mistiming Ultra on blocked ball. And this is at the 5K BP level.
I also have a hard time against Blanka because there’s no way to punish after a blocked ball if you don’t have super/ultra. And c.HP almost always trades when he jumps in. Although the dash and pressure sounds like a good idea.
I always try to keep Gief at a distance so when he jumps I can use s.HK or f.HK when he lands, these 2 normals have tremendous reach. I only use c.HP when jumps on top of me.
Any word on those Blanka videos you mentioned? I’d really like to see you in action against him.
