I didn’t reveal it lol. And NO it’s not that plink thing.
I never thought about that til just now, but is should work.

That’s 1 frame? I thought it was one of the easier ones.
L.Bo, you never told me what you meant in that dash thru fireball situation.
Super secret way = TURBO ROSE?
That would be awkward twice in one week
I did a spark fdac to dash with it, AKuma did a red fireball but I kept dashing like a dummy. The spark ate the 1st hit and I dashed through the rest.
What? I’m lost, what I miss?
Quick questions. Is there any use for HP/MP reflect at all? I just don’t see any reason to use either of these over LP.
Also, what determines how far away she throws people with her back throw? It’s definitely not the same length every time. It can be very difficult to follow up if she’s throwing them all the way across the screen, but it could be very useful against gief for example.
Back throw:

As for reflects, they are obviously useful if you want to send the projectile back at your opponent. Works great against FB spammers. Also you can juggle to super with HP reflect.
Quoted from another thread I posted in:
HP reflect can stop jump ins. it can bait a person into getting soul thrown if they jump over the fireball and you do that right after the reflect. HP soul throw’s range is usually great for such a scenario. and while a HP reflect will unlikely hit a jumper, when you soul throw after that, the odds greatly increase for the person to get hit by one of those tricks.
Hp reflect can also give you some freedom to jump forward during a fireball fight considering a shoto won’t want to risk throwing a DP to hit you if they could get hit by their own fireball.
Word of advice: If you’re out of sparring range, be in the crouched position so you can partially buff reflect to prepare yourself for fireballs better. also you can slide in if you don’t want to play the “will it be a slow or fast fireball?” reflect game and your opponent might not see it coming.
HP reflect is kinda cool, but its timing is weird for me. If i’m playing a shoto character and they have a sliver of life left and the horrible choice of getting into a fireball war with me…I’ll throw a HP reflect. Their instinct takes over and jump right into it.
It’s VERY satisfying…
Also…jump ins. Sometimes i can hit a HP reflect and into soul spark. Has a lot of style. Its my way of saying…“i know i dont have ultra…but dont jump in kthx”
I’ll use random HP reflects to build meter, throw off their timing to bait whiffs, EX reflect in a combo to send them to the corner, and occasionally even reflect a projectile so that I can control jump space in front of me in order to advance. HP reflect gets used a lot by me. I can’t really anti-air with it; that’s what her slide, ST, and c.HP do.
Alright, information regarding Rose’s point blank HP Spark -> cMP link.
It’s a 3 frame window for the link, and probably smaller on some characters as their hurtboxes enter and leave cMP’s hitbox area. Works on every character except the following (feel free to test these though to make sure):
Blanka
Ryu
Ken
Balrog (Boxer)
Viper
Dan
To get a feel for this, I consider the easiest characters to hit this on are Honda, Seth, and Rufus. Most difficult character for me to get this on is Fei Long. I think this has to do with how hitboxes are shifting and which frames of the 3 possible that you can actually hit the opponent. For example, I think Fei can only get hit on the first or second frame, whereas Honda is probably within range on all 3 frames. Sakura feels weird too, but not difficult, just that she has… something odd about hers. Maybe only on f1 and f3 or f2 and f3? I dunno.
The more important part: getting the cMP xx Spiral. The following characters can get hit by a LK Spiral:
Dhalsim
Zangief
Sagat
El Fuerte
Everyone else, you have to use EX Spiral to connect but it will connect so that’s cool. I know this isn’t the most useful thing in the world because you’re not going to be doing many (well… any) point blank HP Sparks outside of 1-in-a-100 okizeme shenanigans. But it’s there and it’s cool as fuck.
actually point blank HP spark sounds like a good idea if you’ve just thrown an opponent. considering 1: if a DP character tries to go through it, they’ll get blocked/punished. 2: If it hits, you can connect a hit off of it.
This brings me to my next question: is c.mp the only thing you can hit directly after the spark? If so, does that mean HP Spark pushes you so far back?
Yeah, the knockback (on the opponent, you don’t really move) is pretty big, enough to knock you into the far standing variations of your normals iirc. Stuff works in the corner though, including sHP. A combo like HP Spark -> sHP xx EX Spark xx FA2 -> BnB or Ultra is totally viable in the corner and isn’t character specific.
You can’t cMP xx EX Spark midscreen either; the cancel works of course but they’re too far away and it doesn’t combo.
And really, a reversal DP will destroy this so I wouldn’t recommend this on a shoto unless you’ve conditioned them to absolutely never wake up dp, or you’ve got 2 bars and Ultra to threaten the Spark FADC Ultra bait. You’ll get the best use out of this against non-dp characters, as a complete mindfuck, or a new beginning move to start combos on stunned opponents.
Plus, this not working on Ryu or Ken puts a kink in that. Sagat is susceptible to the link and to the LK Spiral followup though, so yeah, if he misses his reversal timing on wakeup you could get some nastiness off.
One minor update: Sagat is also susceptible to HP Spark -> cMP xx EX Spark midscreen, and he’s the only one. Meaning you can FADC to Ultra if you want, but Ultra alone (assuming you did this following a stun) would do only ~50 less damage and 17 damage a bar is shit.
hmm yeah you could condition a shoto to whiff DP reverse if they don’t realize it’s HP spark, and maybe you threw it out early enough as bait. I’ll try it.
i’ve been playing rose recently… she’s very cool… (my main is Chun Li… so i find rose to be VERY different than what im used to)
anyways…
i dont know if this has been mentioned before… however… about buffering the Ultra at the start animation of any Ultra of any character… it WILL connect for ALL characters (if within distance)
EXCEPT for:
other than these characters… Rose can buffer her ultra during the animation of ANY Ultra and catch ALL characters…
i have tested it
Glad you’re enjoying Rose, but just to correct a few things for you so you can enjoy Rose more. Her Ultra will absolutely beat Blanka’s ultra no problem. If he activates it close to you, just back dash as soon as you can then immediately ultra, or to really piss Blanka off you can EX soul throw him out of it. You don’t have to block Blanka’s ultra and take the massive chip damage that comes with it. If he’s a fool and activates it out side sweep range, you can just ultra him on reaction.
Seth’s ultra will beat Rose’s ultra flt out. So don’t try to reversal ultra him or you’ll eat it.
You’re right about El Fuerte, he just jumps over your scarf.
As for the rest of the cast, you are correct, her ultra will beat any of them if you reversal ultra them.
at close range Geifs ultra always wins… ALWAYS…
now about Seth… i tried with different distances… IT WORKS… but only in close range… (only… 100% works for very close range…)
Blankas ultra is now pathetic now that i know it can be EX ST …
for Blanka:
At far distance, Rose ultra will always beat Blanka’s. No question about it. If Blanka’s is foolish enough to do it from that distance, you can ultra him for free. You need to work on your timing if you’re eating it. There is absolutely no reason to have to take the chip damage if he activates his ultra from far away, none.
In your 1st scenario, if you just back dash, then ultra you will catch him with your ultra. If activates it right next to you, just back dash then ultra, he eats it every time.
As for Zangief, when did I say anything about that? Of course if does his ultra in your face you’re going to eat it. When Gief has ultra you should be real careful when he get’s in close. It’s better to neutral jump and hp him.
As for Seth, none of them (the ones that don’t suck anyway) are going to activate their ultra at point blank. They are going to do it from medium distance or better and from there, you’re dead if you try to reversal ultra him.
true… but its easier (for me at least) to backdash then EX ST (backdash then ultra is so much input while Blankas ultra is exploding in my poor sexy Rose )
im strictly testing buffering the ultra during the start up animation of ultras
and yes as you said at close range… Geifs Ultra beats Roses
now about seth… i was just testing if it works… it does work at close range…
i made videos:
Rose EX Soul Throw Vs Blanka Ultra (close range)

Rose Ultra Vs Ryu Ultra

Rose Ultra Vs Seth Ultra (small distance)

I tried using Illusion Spark after seeing Blanka’s animation, and the usual Ultra-fail EX Soul Throw came out and tossed him out of his.
Voice chat: “the fuck???”
