Rose Moveset and Attributes

Am I correct in assuming j.mk is her best cross-up? I’d like to start adding more cross-ups to my game with Rose, but I just can’t find the sweet spot for the j.mk to cross up.

you just gotta love blocking rufus’ exsnake, throwing the ultra before the last hit and getting hit by the HK finisher… so freaking absurd

Backdash has some invulnarability, so it makes sense you could try backdashing through a very fast one in the corner (EX Boom?). Dont know if forward dash has invulnarability, if it has, it should indeed work (and a lot more consistent than backdash)

Everybody knows that backdashes have invul in this game, so that’s not such a big deal. Backdashing through a fireball in the corner may be possible, but safer just to deal with it another way. If you have time to think about “hey I’ll backdash this fireball” in the corner, you could have just jumped over it, focused, reflect, whatever. Since he said dash, I thought he meant running forward through the fireball…and forward dashes never have invincibilty, or at least aren’t supposed to.

I just wanted to run something by you Rose players here. I was playing around in training mode with Rose and i happened to notice she can focus absorb two hits of a projectile if done fast enough and you have at least one backdash worth of space behind you.

I tried searching around and didn’t find anything on this, is this something even remotly useful or just flashy?

mmm… im pretty sure i have seen that (EX Green Hand beating Ultra) at least once.

but its a very rare situation, its not likely to happen so often to be afraid of Zang EX Hand and stop using Ultra against it.

and i also have seen Blanka slide beating Ultra, that time i was specting him to use the slide against me (he probably thought i was going to throw a SSpark) and i released the Ultra right after he started the slide animation.

Well, I know for a fact that I’ve taken Gief out of EX hand a few times with Rose’s ultra. I Try to counter practically everything with Rose’s ultra and probably 90% of the time Rose wins. Hell, I even throw her ultra if the other person throws theirs first and still win most of the time. The only people I wont reversal ultra is Seth, Abel and Elfuerte.

Quick question: Is Rose’s slide -3 on hit/-6 on block when it connects at the tip?

Frames adv on hit/block on SF4 data frames lists from wiki are given with moves connecting on the 1rst active frame; consider them as the minimal frames adv.

For Rose’s slide which have 8 active frames, frames adv interval is [-3;+4] on hit/[-6,+1] on block, so it’s +4/+1 at the tip.

This move at the tip it’s a good long range poke with which u’ll take a defensive game after: at the tip, the range between opponent and u doesn’t give u any good offensive options that can’t be countered (DP, super, ultra) or escaped (focus, backdash, jump).

Do this move at mid-range is also good, because it let u at a relative close range with 0 or +1 on hit, where u can easily apply a mix-up pressure game.

Just (u might already know/it might be said before) a small reminder: DO NOT THROW SLIDE AT CLOSE RANGE.

PS: About your signature, if u play a character like Rose, you must be scared of every opponent, noobs also (and especially them), trust me.

Yes, never throw her slide up close, because you are really at a disadvantage. I mainly use her slide for three reasons: at medium range as a poke, as a way to avoid aerial attacks and as an escape for cross up shenanigans. Occasionally I’ll do a slide at medium range and then immediately throw a standing mk, to catch my opponent if they try to attack. It works well if you use it sparingly.

Yeah, it seemed like it’d be that way, but I couldn’t find any hard numbers on what it was as at tip hit. I sometimes use it as a fakeout into a throw (Similar to how people whiff LP Blanka balls), but the spacing on that seems a bit iffy for me.

lol I love sliding into throw. if the opponent catches on, then I’ll stop but jeez might as well go for it to see if they know the match up lol.

It’s not a 1-frame link if you do it the super secret way. Plus I can hit it pretty consistant online so meh.

Couldn’t you link c.lp from close mp instead? You should have a couple more frames for the link so it should be easier…
