Rose, GG's Thread!

Your tactic paid off well. I was too slow at adapting and suffered for it. I definately need to spend more time working on air fighting and jump-ins. I’m mostly ground orientated with Rose.

I’ll send you guys a friend request if that’s okay. It’d be good to have more good Rose players to spar with as this mrror match is one of my weakest match ups.

Hey if you want to get some games on just hit me up with an invite next time you seem me on. I’d be happy to chase you across the screen with my super spastic, over caffinated Rose…lol. Most people aren’t ready for a rush down Rose and I think I catch a lot of people off guard by my overly aggressive play style with her. Saqs on the other hand plays her even more aggressive than I do. His Rose just doesn’t let up, ever and he has is combos and punishment routines down even more than I do.

hi im kinda new to the forums but im hoping for good matches to improve myself obviously :slight_smile:

add me on so i can play with anyone please :slight_smile: PSN Loan

also i have a question how you stand up with rose seem that if i get knocked and the other character focus attack i have nothing to counter except quick stand up -.- any tips there please thanks, i try spark drill throw even the word reversal show up but i get hit by the focus

You have a few options of they are focus attacking you on your wake up, you can back dash then punish, you can simply throw them, ex soul spiral, or ultra them if you have it.

GG’s to Shinkuur. Best Rose I’ve played by far. You know that match up very well it seems since you countered the standard block strings and pokes beyond effectiveness.

It got close a lot of times, and then far from it other times. Part of me feels like blaming the hardware for certain moves not coming out such as fake focus dash into throw… but it’s probably just me being antsy and uncoordinated.

I tried adding the account you said to, but I got an error. guess I’ll try again. GG

Yeah ggs, it’s been a while since I’ve done a good Rose mirror. I really don’t know that match at all since fighting a good Rose is rare, but I figured out some things about fighting her and just tried it on the fly lol…seemed to work out pretty well though.

I’ll send you a FR on the other account, I just made it the other day so it may be acting screwy.

Sounds like I need to learn those things so I can know how to counter them. Your perfected combos definitely set me back too.

Most of the time I’m just too aggressive for my own good even if I’m not comfortable in the match-up. Like if you’re near me… I WILL attack. no block, no backdash… it’s easier to get away with against unsuspecting players, that’s for sure.

I want a piece of the pie to :slight_smile: Add me Rose players.

GG’s to Wibble again :tup: Some of the things I spoted in our games is your unwillingness to keep the pressure on when you had the momentum. For instance if you landed a crossup combo and knocked me down, you would hardly ever try to keep me guessing on wake up. A couple times you tried to simply walk up and throw, while good every now and then, is not a reliable tactic as is anything if done to much it’s becomes too predictable.

Another thing is you are almost completely unwilling to try for her ultra. I made it a point to jump several times at you while you had meter hoping you’d try it. Trust me, her ultra is worth the risk invloved in trying to land it. I alos showed you a couple ways to set it up that don’t involve your opponent jumping at all. I caught you with it almost every time I did it. Time your slide so the tip of your foot hit’s your opponent, you now have frame advantage on block or hit. A lot of times characters will try and attack Rose after her slide because they think it’s a free hit, but as I showed you several times throwing out an ultra after her slide can catch your opponent. Another one I did a few times is after a bloc k string of c.lp, c.lk, c.mp, spirial, I’d throw out my ultra and catch your c.mp you were trying to punish me with.

Those are a few ways you can threaten with her ultra to keep your opponent on notice that they don’t only have to worry about jumping in, but also not to get too aggressive against her.

You were doing nice in the footsies game in the last few of our matches, and punishing my slides with a c.mp, but you were never following up with your spiral to knowck me down after hitting with the c.mp. I was doing this purposely to you over and over hoping you’d finish the combo.

GG’s man :tup:

Sorry for boring you terribly :frowning:

I wans’t able to do c.MP into spiral (or any special attacks) so I mostly made do with normals only.

Doing specials was too difficult (not to mention very painful on the hands), so I opted to not do them most of the time because I can’t get the motion down on the controller. When I tried to follow up c.MP into Spiral, it just doesn’t come out so you see c.MP only.

Punch x3 was LB, B, and Y, so it was really hard as-is because I dont remember my kicks and punches :frowning: I only did one Ultra by completely luck because I spammed all 6 buttons and hoped it was the right 3 since I’m not used to this blasted thing.

Maybe I’ll do better than 1-15 next time… probably not lol… I already played about 100 matches and lost all but 3 today (<3% win ratio yay!) :expressionless: so 1-15 is actually a *better *record than what I’ve been doing lately.

lol… you didn’t bore me, I have no problem helping you out. I was trying to give you some setups that you could punish. After the 3rd or 4th round I remembered that you said your stick broke so I decided to lay off my rush down game so much. I knew that on a pad and trying to readjust to using it, there was really no hope of showing you anything other than a beating if I kept pressuring you the way I was…lol. That wasn’t my goal. So I decided to give you some setups and see what you bit on and what you did to try and counter.

As for your controller, I’d highly suggest getting it fixed. You can get a replacement Sanwa stick from here for about $25

http://www.modchipman.com/arcade-parts-c-144.html

And it’s REALLY easy to install. It’s literally plug and play.

As for now for a suggestion if I may. Try setting up your buttons like this for Rose:

X = hp
Y = lp
A = hk
B = lk
LB = mk
RB = mp
LT = focus attack
RT = ppp

Using that setup on the XBOB controller will let you easily focus cancel, have easy access to your ppp button, throwing is a easy press with your thumb across Y+B, as is using B+A to use her EX spirals.

If anyone is up for a few games on XBL hit me up. Looking to improve a bit. GT: Maligu

Ok, I finally ordered a joystick, so maybe that will help bring my win% from 6% to maybe 10% if I’m remotely lucky (*’-’)v. I like playing those arcade shooters on XBLA so I figure this will have use in both areas.

All things aside, how was I supposed to react to your slide-in on block from the outside range since you’ve perfected it to give you frame advantage: do nothing and continue to block is the correct move, yes?

Like last time, it seemed that regardless of what I did, I kept getting stuffed. My timing is bad in general (I get that) and I wasn’t able to do any specials at all - but aside from that, I wasn’t able to do any normals (that is, if I even remember the button layout which I didnt but still :P)

I suppose it wasn’t all a waste; my friend who got me started in fighting games 2-3 months ago said that it’s not a bad exercise playing through entire sessions without any special moves whatsoever and just focus on normals, ranging, and blockstrings.

In a Rose mirror match if you block the tip of her slide at long range you can do a few things to counter if you know a follow up attack is going to happen. If you have meter, you can do a EX spiral to stuff my next attack, you can back dash to get out of range and reset or you can block and see what the other person does then react. Rose doesn’t have an overhead attack so the worst I can do is walk up and throw you or try for a crossup. Either can be reacted to if you’re looking for it. Just be extra careful if Rose has ultra and slides at you from inside sweep range. My goal IS to get you to block the slide then try to punish me because I’m setting you up to land her ultra as you saw.

Secondly, you absolutely must know your characters normal and how to effectively use them in the correct situations. So yes, that is VERY important. Rose has some great normals and they are just as useful as her specials.

GG’s Saqs, we finally got a chance to play.

You have a very good Rose, very precise in execution, good shit.

GGs bro. Thanks for the kind words. Keep Skarfin! :slight_smile:
