Rose Combos and Glitches

Quick question:
Is it me or is doing c.lp, c.lp x lk.Soul Spiral difficult? I can do c.lp x SS no problem but c.lp x 2 into SS is like impossible for me :\

You’re probably doing the two c. lp’s too quickly. Slow down your timing between them so they don’t chain together. They should link instead.

Do they have to link to combo? That’s weird :\

That’s because it’s a 1 frame link. And yes, almost all light attacks lose the ability to cancel if they’re chains instead of links. Therefore do cr.lk -> cr.lp/cr.mp instead of cr.lp -> cr.lp. cr.lp xx cr.lk -> cr.mp is Rose’s best hit-confirm if you’re close enough outside of cl.mk or cl.mp -> cr.mp.

ch hk links into cr.hp in the corner…dont think this was possible in AE nor is it very applicable but just thought id point it out…didnt check to see if this was already known but oh well…also i cant get ch cl.mk > cr.hp to connect in the corner…is this just me or does this no longer work? swear it did in AE and can get it to connect outside of corner which seems strange to me…and also ch st.hp links into cr.mp which i dont think was possible in AE either maybe im wrong about that too though.

either way the first link i mentioned is extremly easy and leads to high dmg if someone can find a way to make it viable i was doing ch hk>cr.hp into SS fadc u2 st.hk> cr.hp xx fierce reflect ST with ease(in corner)…somewhere in the 500s dmg wise. everything ive mentioned was only attempted on dan cuz i only had a little bit of time. recently picked rose back up in ver. 2012 cuz she seems a lot better with her improved cl.mk…i know it was a debate for awhile but rose is definatly better now and lovin it. now im just torn between stayin with sak or usin rose again…=/

I’ve been picking up Rose for a little while now and wanted to know what would people consider need to know info for rose.
I’d like to know what combos should I pick up for 2012 edition. I’ve been playing her for the last couple days while I’m in Japan and trying to learn what I can before I come back to the states for school. I played Cammy in super but stopped when AE came out but now I feel like I should pick up 2012 edition and I don’t want to play cammy since she isn;t the rush down monster I grew to love. I can beat a lot of master level players with my Cammy here, but I lack the match up knowledge and tricks for rose to be able to beat anyone that’s higher than A rating.

Also I’d liek to know if all that info in the rose tutorial guide still works and should I be going over that then for combos and tricks. Thanks =]

Your standard hitconfirm is cr.LP, cr.LK -> cr.MP xx Spiral. Use EX Spiral if your opponent isn’t within range for normal Spiral to combo. 1f link.
Your maximum damage meterless punish is either cl.MP -> cr.MP xx Spiral or cl.MK -> cr.MP Spiral. Both are 1f links.
You standard frame trap combo is cl.MK -> cr.MP xx Spiral. Off CH cl.MK, link into cr.HP xx Spiral instead. 1f and 3 f link respectively.
Your maximum damage metered punish without Ultra 2 is cr.HP xx LP/MP Spark FADC -> cr.HP xx Spiral. 1f link.
Your maximum damage metered punish with Ultra 2 is cr.HP xx LP/MP Spark FADC -> U2, cr.HP xx Spiral. 1f link.
In the corner, you can combo into EX Spark -> cr.MP xx LK/EX Spiral. 1f link.

That should get you started. Most of the combos in the tutorial thread should still be applicable but now that cl.MK is +4 on hit you can link it into cr.MP instead of cr.LP. Everything else should be the same.

Her 1 frame links don’t feel bad at all since I could do them 75% of the time right form the get go.
I feel very odd playing footsies with her too, but that comes with more time I spend with her. When I play Cammy it’s 2nd nature.
When I get back to the states I’ll be able to put some real time in with her in training mode and online.

Is this new in v2012? cHP whiff (dunno if just akuma)…

it just looks like you are jumping in too far for the c.fp to connect. use c.mp from that distance to be sure.

I’m pretty sure it should work. Especially the corner one… I’ll test it tomorrow >_<

What’s her strongest combo in the corner?

I just started playing as her and can 523 with 1 ultra and 2 EX bars starting with cr.HP, but seeing as how it’s corner, could she get more damage off that?

around 607 damage

Oh, but that’s all your meter.
I was wondering if something that’s a punisher and only took 2 EXs (sorry for not being specific).
Also, a combo without Ultra but takes 2 EXs, wondering what best punisher would be for that as well.

I can’t check right now, but does jump HK do more damage than jump HP?
And what does ‘stk’ stand for :eek:

Oh, and is there a places where I can find hit boxes on her normals?

Rose Kicks do more Stun. stk is imo Close Hard Kick. In Corner her best punish is cHP xx High Reflect, Soul Throw. With Meter cHP xx Spark FADC cHP xx High Reflect, Soul Throw, afaik

cl.MK-> cr.LK -> cr.MP xx LK Spiral Because the extra 8 damage is worth the second 1 frame link.

Need EX Spiral for: Abel and DeeJay (when standing), El Fuerte, Zangief, Vega, and Cammy (when crouching) and Balrog (standing or crouching).

cr.HP, mp spark, FADC, cr.HP, drill

In the corner just replace drill with HP reflect, Soul Throw

I’m not sure if this is known, but you can link cr.mp from EX Spark mid screen. (crouching opponent):

302dmg (320CH) cl.st.mk, EX Spark, cr.mp, EX Spiral. (MK spiral wont combo but its safe)

its char specific. works on shotos, sim, abel, sagat… etc… on some characters you can use it as a frame trap like against Akuma/Oni:

crlk (blocked), cl.st.mk (CH), EX Spark, cr.mp, EX Spiral.

Hot stuff. I’ll make sure to give that combo a try next time I hit up the arcade.
