Rose Combos and Glitches

A non-practical combo I found last night:

cs.hk, c.lp, lk drill

I was experimenting with s.lp -> c.lp -> c.lk -> c.mp -> EX SS yesterday.

Since you can connect s.lp -> c.lp -> c.lk -> c.mp, I think you can continue the combo further with Soul Spark -> FADC -> cr. hp -> Soul Reflect HP -> FADC -> Soul Throw.

Just neutral jump immediately after the U2 activation, you should get both hits if everything is done as soon as possible. You can also sometimes get both hits (usually just 1 iirc) by forward jumping if you want to set up a crossup out of the corner or immediately whiff Soul Throw for meter building to get back across but I’d rather take the guaranteed 2 and leave her in the corner.

Edit: Spacing dependent of course. If you Spiral from max range or she’s not fully in the corner when you hit her with Spiral, you’ll probably need to jump forward and then crossup/whiff Soul Throw back across.

Coming back to the Guile match-up is anyone having success?

I fight a very aggressive Guile and it seems my specials just ain’t cuttin’ the mustard against this guy. Most of the time if I win a match it’s soley on normals and spacing. Drills are punished more than 70% of the time (this even includes a correctly spaced HK version), this makes pressure and chip game tough. I end up relying on soul spark and U2 for any damage or pressure even with normal mix-up. More often then not I end up taking one to many overheads and trades and when you compare life bars it’s not really in Roses favour at all. EX sonic boom is tough on reaction for reflects and I haven’t had much success with U1 either.

Any ideas?

This match-up to me really seems like 6 Guile - 4 Rose.

2-3 days ago i was thinking about rose’s corner combo that end with an u2 + st and i was wondering that after it our enemy is no more in the corner because the st throws him away from it. So i tried this:

(random combo example, like rose’s trial 24)

j.hp, hp xx ex spark fadc hp xx reflect, u2 ** Foward Jump ** st…

and i could saw that if i foward jump the first orb hits in air and the second in cross up, so the soul throw will bring back our enemy in the corner…

i tried this on many char and it works on big one like rufus, gief, hawk and similar…

maybe many of you know this yet, but i think it’s a nice idea to keep the pressure…

another thing that i could saw (new for me) is that j.lk when the enemy is knocked down at the corner does an awesome fakecross up. I think this tip was old, but i saw it for the first time some days ago, trying in training…does someone knew it?

No worries. I understand you. Thanks for the suggestion. You could probably do that combo using LP or MP spark FADC, and without the jump in. I haven’t tested it, so I don’t know if it’d actually work, but it’d save you any extra meter, and still give you the opportunity if you only have 2 bars.

I also know that j.HP and j.HK make pretty good ambiguous jump attacks in the corner. I don’t usually like taking the other player out of the corner, though, especially if they end up blocking it. Then I’m stuck in a bad spot.

try j.lk is REALLY ambiguous, it seems a perfect cross up but then rose come back in a non-cross up position…(only at the corner)

btw, yeah you can do that combo with c.hp xx MPspark (not lp one) fadc c.hp xx HPreflect ->->->

it was only an example combo to show how to put again in the corner our enemy after an u2+soul throw in the corner :slight_smile:

AFTER A FOCUS POINT BLANK
DASH BACK ACTIVATE ULTRA
DASH FORWARD ST.LK
DASH FORWARD AGAIN

and you would have dashed underneath the person and they wouldn’t have touched your orbs yet and it would be soo quick that the person may block the wrong way and land you a full combo… excellent after a dizzy for that all important reset

As a side tip… if you dash a little later… you can stay on the same side

ANNNDDD YOU GET THE VACUUM EFFECT SO YOU CAN LAND ANOTHER FOCUS OR JUST A CHIP KILL AS THEY ARE LITERALLY HELPLESS…

and you can even then soul throw for a further mixup etc…

Quick question: Is the link cr.lk > cr. lk the same amount of frames as cr. lk > cr. mp?

Just for clarification, I’m referring to the amount of frames after each attack. Not the fact they are 1 frame links.

It feels like it is when I do cr. lk > cr. lk > cr. mp, but I’d like to know for sure because then I’ll just practice this combo to get to know the link better. I have a hunch it might be a 1 frame difference, as well.

EDIT: Well I just went ahead and checked the frame data on event hubs and it seems to indicate it is the case that the timing is the same for each link. 4 frames startup on cr. medium, 4 frames on hit adv for cr. lk, 4 frames startup for cr. lk

here’s a somewhat impractical but stylish combo

dmg 400+ stun 500? (Can’t remember will check and edit later)
(Corner)3 or 4 bars
J.Hp or Cr.mp xx Ex Spark > Lvl 2 focus > dash > lvl 1 focus > dash > Ultra 2 > Ex Soul Throw/Soul Throw

you can also lvl2 focus dash lvl 1 focus dash ultra 2 soul throw out of the corner if you want to juggle for the purpose of being fancy,and of course you only need to use 1 bar at minimum for this.

my rose combo would be:d: :lk::d::mp: lp soul spark fadc :d::hp: hp reflect fadc soul throw

c.hp doesnt hit after a lp spark fadc, you need to hit with an ex spark (corner only, if mid screen use c.mp) or c.hp xx MP spark fadc c.hp xx special if you want to use c.hp after a fadc :slight_smile:

In that particualr combo it does on most ppl at the regular timing but against some ppl(with that combo and others ex.cr.lp,cr.lk,cr.mpxxSSpark,FADC,cr.hpxxSSpiral) you have to delay the timing a bit. Its just hitboxes dumbness.

Not sure if this is new but last night i was playing around on pad and picked rose and I did this combo:
J. HP cr. HP XX HP Soul spark XX super Ultra lp. soul throw
normally the hits dont work but if you do a soul throw both orbs hit doing about 600 dmg in the corner
it works on viper not sure about the other cast members.

A absorbed FB makes rose Super stronger right?
I didn’t know that and tested it in training and sum other stuff. Even her normal and EX FB becomes stronger and her U2 too. Someone already knows that?

It’s like sagats angry scar, one upper (Rose FB) and the effect is gone =/

Edit: Ah damn, i see it is already known. but maybe not that U2 is stronger too^^
