Rose Combos and Glitches

I will spend some time messing against those characters then, thanks. I’m trying to figure out how many extra frames of stun you get when it’s delayed and if it sets up any interesting followups either with or without FADC.

the EX spark stagger effect works on Seth’s nj/bj HP also, but that’s basically how it works on Dhalsim (Duh). Oh and Rufus’s c.HP. Maybe even Rose’s Piede.

I wish sparks could set up other juggle opportunities vs jumping characters aside from 1 hit off of EX Spark.

It’d also be sweet if Piede could juggle into spiral vs a jumper. I sometimes do that during a match just in hope it’ll connect, but nope.

Anyway, back to Pasqual’s question. I don’t think it’s possible to bank off of that stagger effect, since it usually requires a character with some reach to get hit on their limb and therefore they’d end up getting pushed back too far than anything could follow up.

And Acku, that’s interesting you actually calculated the frames. When I was figuring out Rose’s counter-hit combos, it was all trial and error. When I FADC combos, I usually attempt c.mp > spiral because it’s generally the most damaging without costing more meter. I’ll have to try c.HP. It might be easier to land depending on spacing; if you start the combo with c.MK xx LP spark. Iunno if that in itself possible though.

yesterday I did for the very first time a
-> J HP, C HP, EX spark, FA level 2

corner combo in a real match. Felt so good  Still working on the FADC combos, the timing is really rough imo, but that’s also because I time the FA often to early. I tend to start FA after I executed the spark motion, but one has to wait untl the spark actually starts for at least 4 frames.

It burns 3 stocks no ?

Lol yeah Acku i have the same problem i press the FA before the animation can finsh and end up FADC’ing a normal. That junk is annoying, espeically cuz i practice it for like and hour or two and still mess up. Got to step my exectuion game up.

ye, but it guarantees you an Ultra of the crumple, which is quite nice. And flashy. So if you ever have 3 EX, Ultra and can nail them i the corner then… well, you might also immediately go check your lottery ticket cause you just won.

I made a Rose combo video that shows that combo and others:

Hope it’s a decent introduction for people who want a quick overview on her combo-ability.

Good shit Acku! Really appreciate it. That video was really helpful. Only gripe: I had to pause the vid to read the description of the moves

i dont know if this is old or just common sense but i was messing around with OS and wake up pressure and i found that is you time a cr.lp to hit on the last active frame on the start of someone’s wake up it combos to cr.mp with no counter hit required. It might not be to practical with reversals as they are but i just tossed it out there.

I kinda like the C LK to C LP link on wakeup better, and it can hit on the first frame.

This has just been discovered and it’s amazing!

after a backthrow FADC a SS and then do your Ultra, because of your animation start up the character can’t block and is hit by the fireball, the Ultra can’t be blocked this way.

Thanks to Henaki for the incredible find!

lol, it comes from a jap sagat

I wonder how difficult this is to pull off and how many options people have to escape this trap.

It’s hard. I tried this a lot of times, and I got it a several times, but it was mostly blocked because I was a frame too late or early. You just have to hit it exactly when the fireball makes contact with the opponent.

You have to step back a tiny bit first.

Does it make a difference which SS version you use?

Light SS is how it is reported, and the only way I’ve connected it. I tried Medium SS for a while, but couldn’t land it. My guess is it’s possible with Medium.

I’m always too early on the ultra.

Does anyone know what the importance of stepping back is?

I doubt it matters if you step back or not. The only thing you have to do is make sure that the spark is going to connect when your opponent gets up, if it is, then activate the Ultra right when the spark will connect so that the Ultra freeze will make it hit. I didn’t ever step back when I was trying it, so I don’t think it’s that important.

It doesn’t matter if you step back or not. I tried it and it worked for me. Like Cinnamon said, it comes down to the timing of the spark to Ultra.

Interesting!
