"Resistance is Futile!" - Sentinel Combo Thread

I posted Sentinel’s self-sufficient, 1 meter combo that deals 830k damage in Jak’s guide:

j.:h:, j.:s:, st. :s:, sj.:m:, sj. :h:, :qcb: :s:, :l:, :h:, :qcb: :s:, j.:m:, Double Jump :m:, j. :h:, j. :s:, land, Rocket Punch :l:, Plasma Storm.

With select assists, you can do: :a1:, Rocket Punch :l:, Hyper Sentinel Force, Rocket Punch :m:, Plasma Storm after you land instead to get an easy 1 mil+ damage for TWO bars.

Relaunch combos do more damage than fly/unfly combos. Also, I do j.:h: xx unfly j.:m: xx double jump j.:h: j.:s: for consistency. Dropping the last j.:m: doesn’t usually affect damage that much but depending on the opponent’s height it won’t drop.

For a relaunch combo, j.:h: xx fly, j.:l: j.:h: xx unfly delayed j.:h: (land) s.:h: :s: j.:m::m::h::s: is the traditional one. You can drop the s.:h: for more damage but the s.:h: makes it more consistent and easier.

You actually gety more damage doing St. M instead of St. H, it’s a bit harder to time but it’s not that tough.

The purpose of st.H however is not damage, but consistency (like Kikiuchimonji pointed out). If damage is what you’re after, you’re better off omitting the normal and going straight for the launcher. Don’t quote me on this though.

Eh it’s really not that hard to get consistent with St. M and it does more damage than just raw S.

I realized that in the corner, you could stretch the damage even further with his relaunch combo.

I’ve gotten 895k for one meter in the corner. I’m trying to break 900k SOLO for 1 METER.

The combo is:
(low altitude) j.:h:, land, j.:h:, j.:s:, (delay) st. :s:, sj. :h:, :qcb: :s:, :l:, :h:, :qcb: :s:, j. :h:, land, st.:s:, sj.:m: , sj. :h:, sj.:s:, land, Rocket Punch :l:, Plasma Storm.

If anyone got tips on breaking that 900k, it would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to increase it SOLO for ONE METER and lol @ 895k damage

Hmmmmmm, have you tried doing the st.:h: before the :s: relaunch? It might add the extra damage your looking for. Plus w/e assist you got in the back will prolly add about 20-50k to the combo.

I’m going to try this out, but in any case, I’m a screw around with the combo and see if a different combination leads to 900k.

Are there any stipulations to doing the tiger-knee Rocket Punch > Hard-Drive > Plasma Storm or can it be done at the end of any combo anywhere on screen?

Rocket Punch :l: , Hard Drive, cr. :m:, Rocket Punch :m:, Plasma Storm works anywhere on the screen primarily because of the corner carry of the Sentinel combo used and Hard Drive takes the opponent to the corner from 2/3 of the screen guaranteed.

Sometimes rocket punch xx hard drive won’t combo if you’ve scaled your combo like a mother. Even rocket punch xx plasma storm won’t. However, in basically any solo Sentinel combo tk rocket punch xx hard drive will work.

Raw plasma storm after hard drive is inefficient in combos unless it’s a happy birthday. Best damage is cr.m (3 hits), L (or M) rocket punch xx plasma storm. If the combo has been scaled to the point where rocket punch xx super doesn’t work, I believe you can still do cr.m (3 hits) xx plasma storm.

Depending on character, in the corner rocket punches can whiff over the opponent’s head. Especially TK rocket punches. Spacing is especially important then, you want to be a bit away from the corner.

For the 900k combo, try flying j.h xx unfly, j.h, land and jump, j.h j.s, s, h xx fly, l h xx unfly h s j.mhs, L rocket punch xx plasma storm. I don’t know if you can get a relaunch combo after those heavies, I was going to try it myself but I’m lazy.

The cool thing about doing Hard Drive to Plasma Storm is it puts you at the perfect height to link another Plasma Storm (or snapback) on the way down, does significantly more damage that 2 Hard Drives into Plasma Storm for 3 bars, should you ever need it.

Yeah that’s true, if you’re going for max damage on three bars then raw plasma storm is the way to go… or something wonky like hard drive, :h: rocket punch xx plasma storm, plasma storm.

You can actually link a snapback after every rocket punch xx plasma storm as far as I know.

Okay, 900k has been cracked for 1 BAR SOLO, UNASSISTED, here it is:

Damage: 906,100 (perhaps a few hundred points more, but my mashing sucks)
Meter -Gain: around 20-25% meter-gain after super

Anywhere on screen Im guessing?

It’s easiest in the corner, but it is do-able Midscreen on Medium sized-characters and greater. (most shorties drop at the Relaunch Part since they’re too high)

In the corner though, I’ve been able to land it on everyone but RR.

But since he only has 750, no real reason to go for it against him.

I really was testing it to kill Joe and Morrigan, Joe especially since he’s so small and has high health. Surprisingly, it works on Wolverine.

So, I noticed that some characters seem to drop out of TK Rocket Punch L xx Hard Drive, even in after simple cr.MS sj.MMHS combos, in certain situations. Is there some way to get a consistent Hard Drive that’ll pop them out properly for a follow-up, or is this just another weakness of Sentinel that’s completely random?

No theres a way to get consistent with it, you have to look at where they are after the rocket punch before you activate the hard drive. If they are too high the character usually pops out, naturally you don’t have to worry about this against the entire cast, just a select few. But yea, you just gotta be mindful of which character your fighting and practice hitting that sweet spot against them.
