This is gonna seem like a stupid question, but I’m going to ask anyways. Is RE4 for the PS2 gimped in any way, shape or fashion? I want to buy it since I got a new LCD TV, and playing RE4 on the Gamecube is horrible on this TV since I get black borders on the side AND the top and bottom, since the game doesn’t have real wide screen. So, should I just get RE4 on the PS2 then?
The polygon count is noticably lower, but that’s a mixed blessing. The ps2 version doesn’t have the slowdown that the GCN version had plus it has more content. It has longer load times and the cuntscenes are no longer in real time however. 
Having owned both, I’d reccomend the ps2. the extra content makes up for the SLIGHT downgrades.
Biggest ppeeve about the ps2 version: Ashley’s jiggliness is gone in her extra outfit.

RE: Extinction looks…Bad. I think Apocalypse looked better. I’ll end up seeing it probably anyway just because I like RE…
And GC RE4 > PS2 RE4. I own both. GC has much better graphics and…It just feels better.
yeah i just tried the ps2 version recently, it’s harder to control compared to the gc or wii version.
Anyone know how the Wii version of RE4 compares to the other 2?
I would assume it’s exactly like the GC version, only in widescreen + all the PS2 extras…
I didn’t have a problem with the control translation myself. It depends on the person.
I got both PS2 and GC versions. The only thing the GC has over it a slight graphics update and real-time cutscenes with the RPD outfit. Everything else is inferior or about the same.
