Scamp, as long as our serial-choking girl has some love it’s all good.
I want to go to NCR, not sure if I have the cash though for entry fee. Im so broke it’s not even funny.
I need to be more consistent with my Deejay as well. If I get rushed in on successfully, I begin to lose charge and become impatient which is a pretty bad flaw, and I’m suspect to wake up SRK’s when I try to rush down. I’ve decided Im sticking with him though, his groove is just too much for anybody to handle.
Who else from Reno is going to NCR or trying to other than Truffle and I?
sonic boom edit: And I don’t agree that Guy is bad! I think your just trying to play Guy like Fei-Long, Jose.
Learn to defend/evade without charge, that way losing your charge won’t be an issue that hurts you. If you have charge you can defend better/have more options, but now if you don’t have it you can still be solid/get away and charge.
Cross-ups tend to destroy wakeup-mashers. They still might get lucky with an auto-correct, but the risk/reward is way in your favor. Also if your timing is good you can try for the safe jump-in attack on their wakeup. Finally nothing beats good ol’ fashioned baiting.
Daigo’s Guy was good, but Kiyo’s Guy versus Daigo’s Ryu…that was awesome. Sad to hear that about Makoto, Scamp. I’m going to hope you’re wrong, no offense.
Makoto can be very solid but I don’t think she dishes out enough damage outside of being able to ultra from grab or from a hayate if you also have super. She has options to do a lot of things but no good way to keep the pressure on the opponent. I disagree that fireball characters give her trouble with the exception of Guile and Deejay. Guile you have to be extremely patient, Deejay is just a nightmare.
On the other hand, I’m gonna keep using her because she really puts me in a mentality I’d like to practice more. You need to punish every opportunity you get as hard as you can, because it’s not easy to create them. Your defense also needs to be spot-on and you need to be very aware of the holes in your opponent’s game.
Some of the things I hate the most are Oroshi being her only armor-breaker, and EX Oroshi losing to people mashing. I also can’t understand why it’s so hard to do Makoto’s arial kick right off the ground while it’s incredibly easy with Cammy.
Makoto definitely has powerful tools. It just takes some understanding of her goals and how to get the opponent to get hit over and over. You have to use her s.MP, c.FP and kara cancel almost everything to position yourself correctly. She supposedly has a really good cancel off one of her command normals that lets you tick into her karakusa perfectly, where a jab can’t come out. Only uppercuts can beat it.
I’m gonna spend more time with her, cuz’ she’s alot of fun. I love getting hayate -> uppercut punchy in the corner, hottest combo ever
I dunno. More like just don’t play super stupid! So don’t randomly neckbreaker, df mk slide or other random punishable stuff.
She kinda loses in a mid range poking match, though obviously up close its a lot better. Sure she has some unsafe stuff there, but she also has some decent options at that range too. St. lp is +4 on BLOCK and +8 on hit IIRC. Madness.
Plus, shoryukens and many other reversals lose to her vortex. Its so much fun to land.
That actually does help with Mak but she still doesn’t hold a candle to Juri. More time in the drawing board.
I actually disagree with you Chef on the random neckbreakers. Certainly you don’t want to be doing it all the time, but I think it’s important to throw it out there on occasion just to keep your opponent honest. You know what they’re not doing when they’re worried about random neckbreaker? They’re not beating you with pokes or spacing properly. This makes it much easier to set up your shenanigans.
Well, the problem is scamp that really the tricky stuff comes from a knock down. And to prevent that from distance all the other guy seems to have to do is to hold downback to stop the neckbreaker. Even if they block my pokes its not exactly too scary for them (though then I can start throwing of course). It also has a pretty lengthly start up. So its hard to reactively punish light or medium pokes/footsies IMO.
-13 on block is… well… something that I honestly don’t want to risk. And its not that hard to do. Thankfully the all around damage nerfs this time around mean you can get away with it once or twice. But still, just about everything can punish it.
ok. i guess guy does suck but im still going to use him, even tho i havent got too much time on my hand i will start taking ssf4 a llittle more serious. I like that akuma does have a unblockable ultra set up. See u guys on wed,
at renorob-nice seeing you sat night, Shit was off the chain, im still feeling the pain!
Holy crap, there’s actual game mechanic discussion going on, and I effin missed it? Dammit! I’m playing Adon, I know, I know, everyone says he sucks. I still feel like no one’s playing him right, myself included. I know where I want to take him, but I don’t have the execution skills yet. For now, he’s all rushdown/poking/ and throw game, until I evolve his cancelling and learn to incorporate it properly. For now though, I’m just happy to be finally getting comfortable with my arcade stick. See you all Wednesday! (cept for Bob)
I think Makoto has a lot of potential, its just challenging to realize. Her st.mp is an amazing poke and so is her cr.mp. Forward Hk is good and cancellable, and she has a lot of tricks in her bags including a bunch of kara’s like Koogy said. It just takes a lot of patience with her.
Ibuki scares me the most, even though 75% of xbox live uses her, so Im adjusting to the match up, but her damage potential is through the roof.
I feel Adon is very solid, with simple, high damage bnbs, a solid move in jaguar kick and a good throw. He has high stun on a lot of moves, best thing to do is keep the pressure on with his unique jump angle, and keep him out of range with a solid standing rh and jaguar kicks which are safe on block, and beat a lot of counterattacks. At least thats where my success with him is from.
Whats the lookout for the first tournament on wednesday?I say free entry and just for ranking purposes would be best at the current moment.
