next touney: honda banned, akuma ok

Dude, you’re like a mad scientist, coming up with all this crazy Honda shit. Practice mode is your lab. First came the ridiculous combos, now the game breaking throw on wake up!
But yeah, I replayed that part a dozen times. It’s very odd…
Fuck it, ban 'em both!
You have no idea. He’s the only guy I’ve ever seen go to tournaments and go into training mode on the show floor. He LOVES training mode! I think he wants to have like 10,000 of it’s babies.
Ya, I do love me some training mode. You have to in order to play these games well.
You are close, more like 20,000! :lovin:
One of these days I’ll get around to writing up a post how I used training mode to get better.
I concur. If I put training mode on max diff cpu, hours can fly by,without a care lol!Combinations of circumstances You dont expect rear their head there.Pulling that stuff off in a real match is quite satisfying indeed.
lol wake up(on your opponent who is waking up) ochio works in sf4 too.
not like this(i doubt you can cr.lk cancel into it)
Shit, i really hope that doesn’t apply to anybody with a command throw. The last thing my bison needs is t.hawk or zangief being able to kara cancel into their 360’s on my wakeup. That would be broke as f*ck, and i know that there are a few hawk players on srk that would have the dexterity to do it. There are a couple of examples already of getting around the timing constraints of moves using cancels before a normal connects, but if this one’s true it would make a big difference to a lot of honda’s matchups.
Once again megaman single handedly propels honda up the tier list by whoring training mode.
How do i put the training CPU on max difficulty? Is there an option select somewhere that i don’t know about?
Unless im brain farting,i believe its just in the pause menu, although I honestly cant remember if its even in hdr.as a rule though,if I have the option I set it max of course.I swear I was setting it every time in hdr though.
EAgameman with no fingers would make Fatty a very happy boy… just say’n… J/K
Hahaha! Knowing how much time I spend in training mode I’d just learn to play with my toes.
I have no words for this. None. Well…ok…maybe one…CHEAP!!! Just joking!
But, seriously…that’s a find! A cr.:lk: kara-cancelled into the Ochio throw. How do you counter that? Dhalsim could reversal teleport, I guess, but he’ll just reappear into an Ochio throw, I’m sure. Still, those characters that have reversal special moves could counter that…right? They wouldn’t get thrown out of their moves…would they?
I’m scared.
Given that MiloDC and Kuroppi are good friends and live in the same city ('cause I know them both), I’m certain that Milo’s beaten Bob’s Honda before. You should probably hit him up for advice.
We played some Honda vs Cammy casuals at Evo, alongside the infamous Honda vs Fei Long ones, and Sirlin did fairly well. Our games probably hovered around that 6-4 mark.
I don’t think you broke it at all. You simply threw him when he got up. You know…like “cheap” players used to do back in World Warrior when someone would get up holding block because they were expecting an attack and then they got tossed.
The thing that’s scary about it is that you kara-cancelled that cr.:lk:! That’s why I wonder what would happen if you tried that on Ken and he did a reversal Shoryuken on you. Would Honda continue with the cr.:lk: animation and possibly get hit or would he end up doing nothing?
BTW, I think I figured out the input for that option select trick.
Hold :hp:, walk up to just inside Ochio Throw range, :r::df::d::db: and hold the joystick there, cr.:lk:, start mashing :hp:. When you release the :hp:, good ol’ Stored Negative Edge Ochio takes effect if your opponent is in a throwable state. Otherwise, I think Honda ends up continuing the cr.:lk: until you tap :hp: three times and then the Hundred Hands Slap comes out.
I don’t know how bad this is, yet, but I don’t like where this is going. Kudos for finding it though, megamanpb, as usual.
I can’t WAIT to see that! I have a timeshare in traning mode myself. You kinda have to with the kind of FAQs I like to write, though. My love for combos may have something to do with it.
I doubt Zangief and T. Hawk can do this with the same effectiveness for one simple reason…
…they have whiff animations on their throws.
The instant the game reads that throw command, if their opponent goes into a reversal special move, they will grab air for a few frames and then get hit by whatever special move that was used against them.
Honda, however, doesn’t have a whiff animation and has the added advantage of being able to store his throw. Those two things combined make me wonder how Sirlin couldn’t see the same potential there that he saw with T. Hawk. shrug
I’m not saying this tactic is going to break the game, but like I said before, option selects tend to bring out the Patrick in me.
“I’m scared, SpongeBob.”
Dude, the amount of people who could regularly pull it off (especially in the heat of battle) is probably slim.
I doubt that will be the case for long. I’m sure I’ll be able to go pull it off once I go to try it.
It doesn’t help that I just posted how to do it, too. Why I did that? I don’t know. I like to share information too much, I guess.
Yeah, thank f*ck. I hope it’s not some wierd bug where the game suddenly renders the opponent throwable again before 13 frames has passed because it sees a normal (the cr.LK) come out. I guess time will tell as people experiment with it.
Haha, wait and see. That’s what i love about the street fighter games. All the way back to world warrior i’ve seen people come up with crazy shit that’s really tough to pull off, and a few weeks later everybody’s doing it like it was second nature. The interweb just makes the information get spread further and faster than back in the day, and now with most games having a training mode, anybody can train their muscle memory until stuff becomes automatic. It’s figuring the stuff out in the first place that’s the tough bit, and that’s been done…
I agree with you 100%. I hate when players keep tactics secret, sharing info on this game is the way to go. I honestly think spreading stuff like this is the only way to really better yourself as a player within your circle of friends and opponents. A game like Street Fighter evolves and has a massive life span partly for that reason. I hate winning games because i knew a trick that the player i beat didn’t have the knowledge to counter properly, even though it was beatable. I always tell my regular sparring partners/opponents how to beat something i do if they’re missing a trick regularly, because it means i have to up my game next time i play them to stay even, and i improve myself as a player. If everybody knows all the tricks, tactics, and counters that are available then winning the game turns into a contest of reflexes, skill, mindgames and tactics, and that’s the way it should really be played.
Anyways, i digest :wgrin:…Sorry to derail the thread. Let’s get back to talking about the overpowered fatso sumo again…
Good job Megaman. Even more reason to keep Honda the fuck away from me. LOL But more importantly, even more reason to give Oichio a whiff already.
