Remix Honda Thread

Trust me, its not as BS as Hawk vs. Honda. That fight sucks.

Well, without getting into a debate about which characters bad matchups are worse than others – they are both bullshit. Hawk can’t get close to Honda, and Honda cant get close to Ryu. Like I said, bullshit.

One more and I’ll let this go. I follow the Capcom blog pretty closely and I’ve never heard the head honchos say they are done with HDR patching. The last thing I’ve heard was that they were thinking of nerfing Akuma to make him tournament viable, along with hopefully a year’s worth of data to sift through to make necessary fixes for both HDR versions.

I mean, look at what happened last EVO with the PS3 controller issue. Seth Killian was RIGHT THERE watching that shit. There will be another patch. I’m betting they are holding off until they can make one more solid patch (and get through the busy upcoming christmas season).

This is incorrect. Capcom (in this case, Backbone Entertainment) makes the patch, but it costs money to distribute (bandwidth ain’t free and programmers are needed to make the thing). Once the patch is done, MS and Sony can distribute it instantly. They gave us the emergency patch clearing up most issues for the XB360 and some for the PS3, and now they are probably working on the final one. Hopefully.

Just wanted to say that Honda & Guile v. Cammy is total bullshit. Quote me on it

As for Honda: jump + forward-fierce, then HHS to cover ground. It gets tricky if they’re constantly throwing fierce hados.

Sirlin said he thinks Honda vs. Cammy is 6-4. I don’t think that’s too bad.

Anyway Megaman, the trouble isn’t getting close to Honda. The trouble is that damn blasted un-holy Jab Headbutt.

Hmm… But preventing Hawk from getting close is what I use Jab Headbutt for… It doesn’t matter really, we both agree anyway. :china:

Honda VS Bison:

Is it completely safe to start the round with LP or MP HHS? Is MP HHS completely safe if thrown out after an ochio?

Both of those have worked out well for me but I just wanted to be sure.

Wouldn’t hands leave you open for a jump in? Although it’s unlikely he would jump at you first thing, still… he’s the last guy you want landing it.

And yes, MP hands are free chip after an ochio as long as he lacks super.

I have a couple Bison questions…

What can punish him opening with neutral jump MP, if anything?

Can PC be reversed between blocked hits? (I recently saw a ST vid with Honda hitting a super in the middle of a blocked PC!)

… It’s only 6-4 when the Honda player is drunk, high, and plays with one hand.

Neutral jump MP will beat HHS at most ranges so he can do that too.

Yes it’s even possible to super between hits. I’ve done it numerous times before. But really it’s a much better practice to get in the habbit of stand jabbing that shit anyway.

That’s how I play all the time.

Neither is 100% safe, but most of the good Bison’s I play usually start the round by either jumping backwards or just plain walking backwards. I usually start the round with a standing jab, it will counter if they start the round with PC, Scissor Kick, or even st. Forward kick.

Option Select Meaty cr.Short XX HHS / Ochio

I’ve been meaning to post this little nugget for a while, and now that I have a video to illustrate it’s the right time.

After knocking your opponent down you walk up and position yourself just inside Ochio range. The idea here is to meaty them with cr.:lk: and cancel into HHS. However, if you are within Ochio range, you can actually cancel the short right into Ochio. It basically becomes an option select scenario where you either get an Ochio when they wake up, or a meaty cr.:lk: where you cancel into hands.

Here’s what it looks like… Listen close, you’ll actually hear the audio played for the cr.:lk: but it goes right into Ochio.

(Apologies to SweetJohnnyV… :china:)

Hahaha, that looks pretty slick! I really should get to practice these cr.:lk: -> HHS tricks of yours! :looney:

And I should really practice some of your reaction based play… There were a couple times in the recent tournament that I should have had a :lp: Headbutt or an Ochio - but for some reason I don’t do that as lightning quick as I used to.

Yeah, I heard about that. Which Honda’s has Sirlin beaten? I mean, I’m definitely getting more and more comfortable with the matchup but at the same time I really can’t figure out how he came to that conclusion. I believe he said the matchup is “very winnable,” right? I’m not going to babble more because I’d rather just improve my sumo-ass-kicking skills instead, but I will say this: Out of all the people on SRK, Thelo and Kurropi are two players I will probably NEVER beat in my career.

Heh, you would have to point it out in a vid where I’m playing all sloppy. That whiffed super I did…oof! :shake:

But seriously, good stuff man. That cr.LK stuff of yours really does change what Honda is capable of. It reminds me of when shotos first started doing cr.HK xx fireball.

Whaaaa!? Since when can you ochio someone the moment they get up? Did you just break the throw mechanics of the game?:wow:

All you have to wait is 13 frames. I don’t think I broke that mechanic.

Actually, now that he mentions that, this whole thing does seem weird. You threw me right when I was getting up and you did a meaty cr.short, which only has 4 frames of start-up. So…ya, I’m confused. Does the 13 frame rule not apply if I do a move on wake-up or something?

I think you may be on to something there. Maybe when you do a move on wake-up it cancels that throw delay. I don’t really know.

I really hope I didn’t break it. (I seriously doubt I did, I think there’s just some property of the game going on here that we don’t fully understand.) But if I did I will be really sad… For a little bit, then I’ll start whoring this up. :nunchuck:
