Remix Honda Thread

Honda has to be horizontal for this to work, the startup gets hit. And rh tigers are so fast that you pretty much have to guess to hit him with a fierce headbutt from full screen.

It’s really tough to do against a Sagat who mixes his tiger shots up.

Yeah, you’ll probably find standing jab works well against blanka balls, psycho crushers, all the cool stuff that gets across the screen fast. It fucks me up a lot.

You should try reading the entire boxer thread start to finish if you haven’t already. It will probably take you a few visits, because the character specific threads are always huge, but any time i took the time to do that with my mains i always picked up loads of cool little tricks to help with almost any match. I’m sure you will find loads of stuff on the vs. honda matchup, that has to be one of boxer’s tougher ones.

Beautiful crossup combo + ochio setup off HHS to win the 2nd match, 2nd round (2.12). God i love seeing people get away with this, it’s one of my very favourite things to do in the game.Choi lost about 80% of his lifebar in 2 seconds.Doing that to a player of his kaliber is something to be really proud of.

Really excellent honda.

Thanks a lot guys! I really appreciate all the support!

I finished 3rd overall. I lost to Choi’s Ryu in the winners final, and Watson’s Ryu in losers finals. The finals were an incredibly intense experience – I experienced so many emotions in such a short amount of time!

So ya, I probably should have sailed over a few of those with an FP headbutt. FYI if you block a meaty low Tiger Shot you have to block the second one. If you try to get out of it with Headbutt you will get hit. If you try butt slam you’ll either eat the next high Tiger Shot, or a DP. I was trying to focus on playing a footsie game with him. I wanted to keep him in the corner. I noticed that he had a hard time responding to the cr.LK XX HHS and the cr.LK XX MK Headbutt, so I went that direction.

Overall I’m super happy, very proud, and extremely thankful for all the great information in this thread! I also had a lot of support there. MonGoloRoboKop (who helped me calm down after my first game loss to Wong!), SweetJV, Shoo & his GF, Gamertron, Danimitsu & Mr. SNK! It was crazy, crazy good times all weekend.

Oh ya, one more thing. Fireballs suck, but fake fireballs can die a slow painful death. Seriously, that thing should prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Sirlin didn’t favor Honda while designing Remix.

That combo to win the round was DISGUSTING.

Haha. It’s hard to think about in the heat of a match like that, but if I see someone using fake fireballs I’ll just start to wait for the hadoken noise and react to that instead of what was on screen. Surprisingly works for me.

Did anyone tape your Watson match?

You need to start playing SF4, Megaman. I know it’s a problematic game, but American Honda players are piss poor. Someone needs to show them how it’s done.

Hehe! Thanks!

I think they did, we played it on the machine they were using to record. Maybe they just haven’t posted it yet. I screwed up a ton of shit in that one. I was nervous as hell after losing to Choi.

I’m going to be working on the Ryu match quite a bit before Evo, so I’ll give that a shot. Nice tip!

I totally will after Evo. I want to focus my energy on this game for now. I mean I’ve only really been playing ST since Remix came out. It shows when I go up against someone with 15 years of experience. So I’m focusing on closing that gap between now and Evo, and I don’t want SF4 to F’ up my timing.

And you’re wrong about American Hondas in SF4. Mike Ross and Mr.SNK are great. I’ve been following them to see if I want to pick up Honda in SF4. I might as an alternate, but I think I’m going to take the easy way out and play Sagat.

just like i said in my commentary watch out for eamegaman it was a very fun weekend and pete freaking kicked ass!!! And np on calming you down foo that what i do best!!! just wish i could have done better this tournament lol

I’m so proud of you Megaman! :lovin: This is what Remix is all about! While still an incredibly tough match, Honda vs Shotos/Sagat isn’t as much of a one-sided fight anymore. Maybe this will be the spark people need to quit playing this game like ST and really appreciate the new tricks and tactics that can be explored in this new game.

BTW, for anyone who wasn’t there, this shit was really hype! Way more exciting than the final few matches of SF4 IMO. Huge crowd, people standing on chairs to get a look, lots of oohs, ahhs, and screaming. Good times!

Did MR Snk tape Megaman’s matches versus Choi as well? I wanna hear the crowd reaction to the mm combo.

Bet they were sick… Those combos hurt too… Good Job EA!

Just want to add my voice to the official EA Megaman fanclub - I logged on to the Devastation stream and the first thing I saw was you tearing it up against Wong! I was totally cheering for you and you didn’t disappoint

EA Megaman’s win over Wong was the best moment of the tournament IMHO.

Megaman…

Dude you seriously made my day that honda, a character with no fireballs can beat a fuckin bitch-arse fireball spammer character!

YOU THE MEGA-“MAN” <3

Hey, don’t feel down when you lost to John Choi, you did great to get to top 3, be proud of your progress, you made a great achievment. GREAT JOB BUDDY!

Good job Megaman! You’ve made a believer out of me, I spent the afternoon in practice mode and I’ve started to add fierce HHS combos to my game. My hand is killing me now, do you take bags of ice to tourneys with you? LOL.

P.S. Hope you don’t mind me stealing your combo!

Thelo, Dae, The Osprey, Fatboy and Possum, thank you so much!

lol - no ice, I double tap. I’ve also got to the point where I can do it in really quickly with very few presses. Focus on lighter taps and to get the speed up double tap with your index and middle fingers, or middle and ring fingers. Depending on what feels most comfortable.

I only use FP HHS when I do a 5 hit combo (rarely.) MP HHS has much less recovery which enables you to move faster. If you notice in my match with Wong I was taking advantage of that because I could butt slam over his low kick and force him to block high. If I did FP HHS he would have been able to sweep me. So almost always go for MP, especially if you intend to throw (which you should almost always!)

Tips for practicing doing it would be to cancel it from cr.LK on a practice dummy before trying to do it off a jump in, or a longer string of normals. I like to use Guile as the dummy because all combos/ticks work on him, and because I like beating up on him. You press LK, then immediately (almost as if you pressed the buttons at the same time) press your punch button 3-5 times before LK hit stun wears off. When you get keep practicing it until it becomes muscle memory. That’s the easiest way to get it. It will take some time to get but don’t give up. I have been practicing his combos and ticks for about an hour a day since Remix came out. So it’s probably not going to happen overnight.

And hell no I don’t care if use it. I want a Honda in the top 8 this year at Evo, I don’t care who it is, I just want one of us there! :wgrin:

I think I echo’ed Wheat’s “Holy shit!”

And that, gentlemen, is what they call dedication.

I got a lil’ Honda story for anyone interested:

I was doing player matches with Cammy, my main. I pride myself on being a pretty friggin’ good player, but for whatever reason I was 3-14 (NOTHING WAS GOING MY WAY!). I lost all my spirit and started to think Cammy wasn’t for me. I have limited knowledge of Honda but I’ve seen many greats play so I have knowledge of his moves and combos. I ended the day 15-14. I’m considering maining Honda as he’s just raw power. But before I do that, 2 questions:

  1. How are we linking headbutt into butt smash?
  2. Are you guys always doing HCB to store the Ochio? Is it a motion I should be doing during all my charge moves so I have it ready?
  3. Also, EA - can you break down that combo you did on Choi for me? I wanna try it lol (thank you for the rep, I’d return it if I could).
