Hey while we’re at it lets give Dictator his CE crusher back! :looney:
I think you’re forgetting one key thing, though…
Fei Long has to be close to his opponent to do those links into close fierce.
If he could interrupt crouching forward from maximum range, he’d become a poking nightmare…much like Second Impact Yang and Third Strike Chun Li…except that his SC doesn’t have near full screen range. I’m still convinced that the mix-up potential that he needed to have was in his Chicken Wings either recovering fast enough to allow followup hits on the ground or, as a small compromise, knocking down grounded opponents and allowing juggles. Otherwise, he has no effective mix-up game once he gets in using the a move that was designed to get him in (the Chicken Wing).
Read my post again more closely. I listed Fei Long interruptible attacks and then listed what special moves can be comboed after them. It’s all explained there.
Once you do, you’ll see that I never used the word “uninterruptible” and I never said standing :mp:. (I did say close :mp:, though.)
It wouldn’t be THAT bad
If I could have only one thing back it would be the safe jab headbutt though. I had no idea how good it was for Rog until it was taken away
Safe jab headbutt was a huge part of what made him such an autopilot character, and I’m glad they nerfed it.
Might as well give Ryu back his CE/HF hurricane kick that had invincible startup (up to the actual hitting frames, as opposed to the piddling 4f he gets now) and invincible landing frames
Im so glad I can actually Cr.ForwardxxScissor Kick now when I block that dumb headbutt.
I know I know. It just seems without it he gets zoned a lot harder. It would’ve been nice for Rog to get at least ONE real buff. The MP headbutt still doesn’t go through fireballs even though it should (unless it is done as a reversal or reaaaly close to it).
shakes fist angrily
That’s pretty much how Bison wins against Rog now. Instead of safe jab headbutt after blocking scissors I have to guess if you are going to throw or cr.MK. Hate that so much.
Rog needs HF tap, and A3 Alpha Counter, and Headbutt into ultra.
Considering that Boxer is still at the top of the tiers with little debate, I think he’s fine the way he is.
Yes, he is top tier.
HOwever, they should have fixed the HDR TAP glitch.
It is nothing substantial by any means to the average Boxer,
However, if you are a pro-boxer its just enough of a nuisance to be distracting. Its distracting enough to just abandon the N/E D/F LK uppercut rush from TAP in your gameplay. That is a big tool for pro-boxers.
Oh yeah, one more Rog fix (even though some people hate me for bringing it up): Make it so Rog doesn’t randomly slow down (thus allowing for reversal) when he connects with his super. It is so damned random
Stop with this bullshit argument. Fei could cancel rekkas off like a trillion of his normals in Super. He was still bottom fucking tier. Fei did not become a “poking nightmare” because he could cancel rekkas off cr.mk.
Remember a few pages back? That’s not random.
One of the reasons for that, though, was that max range Crouch Forward into Fierce Rekka would not reach the opponent. The Rekka Ken was too short.
However, now that the Rekka Ken has been INCREASED in distance, there’s a great chance that it WILL connect from that distance. If that’s the case, then yes, Fei Long WOULD become extremely buff, especially because he could do Fierce, Strong, Jab Rekkas and be safe.
If this were to work, you’d have to do some tweaking of the Rekkas, and it was probably out of the scope of the dev on HD Remix to make such tweaks. If you made it so that once you started a Rekka, all following versions reflected the original button used so that once you started with Fierce, the other two were Fierces as well, then it might be more fair so that you can’t make it safe.
But if the ONLY thing we were to do right now were to make Low Forward bufferable, it MIGHT be too dangerous. It would definitely take a lot of play testing, and since Low Forward CAN’T be canceled right now, we can’t tell, really, how far it can connect from.

Oh you did say interruptible. My bad, I’m dumb.
I always wondered why Fei couldn’t cancel out of c.mk… Then again meaty s.hp, c.mk rekkas would be pretty braindead easy. At least it takes timing for meaty hp, walk up hp xx rekkas.
In addition to what James said, he also didn’t have the chicken wing or a super move in SSF2. Fei has all the tools he needs to be competitive in HDR.
Okay so this problem is easily solved. Give him the rekkas new distance / reach, or cancellable cr.mk with old rekkas. Not a hard problem. His jump RH from super WAS the chicken wing animation and im guessing same hitbox since it was REALLY good.
I’d prefer shorter distances on the rekka’s in exchange for the ability to cancel a rekka from any poke personally. In HDR, sure he compete but he is still low tier…not bottom but low regardless. If it were up to me, I’'d return the canel propery from SSF2 along with his turbo CW’s and just make it so the range off his super had the F.Rekka range as opposed to the J.Rekka range. That along with the return of his turbo flame kick and his jumping RH cross-up and I think he would be good.
I play Rog all the time. It happens to me all over the screen.
And this discussion never happened in this thread so far. I believe I mentioned it in the main HDR Rog thread, where I got lambasted. I don’t care if I’m the only one who thinks it’s a bug, but I’ll keep bringing it up. It’s complete bullshit to connect solidly with the super get punished for it. Everyone else got their super fixed except Rog.
Ryu’s doesn’t connect sometime’s even if it does hit.
