Real Urien Unblockables/combos

Hol Horse: I guess i just have to continue trying to red-parry that last hit of the tatsumaki to take the advantage of his kicks.

I do indeed block a lot of lows but you don’t understand(no disrespect). This guy has a srk that is so fast, the word fast doesn’t describe it well. He walks towards me and waits for my counterattack. The second i try to throw/attack it comes out. Instantly. And if i just block he kara-throws me or just tik’throw me. And we are not talking about guts or whatever ppl wants to call it. He does it agains all of us here. He sees it.

At first, lp headbutt used to be a good counter for me but now… he just outprioritize it with all the tools akuma’s got.

I guess i must get more experience from the match-up(i swear to god that the 2 of us have been playing at LEAST 1000matches these last 3months). It’s close but i want to dominate.

so…what are the other moves that you use for the corner unblockable after aegis? I know you said RH Kneedrop works after an aegis but it only works on shotos, chun and makoto. So what do you do for the rest of the cast? I know you posted the vids but I don’t really have the time to watch every one of them. Just wondering what other moves you use to set up unblockable.

The vids should be short enough for you…

I think I can understand since I’ve been playing this matchup a lot for more than 2 years. It need lot of patience, and not, you’ll never get to dominate it since you are training with him (so he can catch up to every new thing you do) and it’s a bad match for urien anyways. Of course experiencing the match a lot will get you to destroy every Gouki player that doesn’t know the matchup perfectly.
Oh and btw I don’t see how he can see the startup animation of a throw and shoryuken it before the throw catches him. Throw startup = 3 frames, which is 5/100 of a second. If he shoryukens your throws he’s reading you (or he’s the best guesser ever).
Try something like standin up for an instant and crouch block again, or inch forward and block immediately. It can confuse the opponent.
Oh and if he’s abusing the tick throws, just reversal EX headbutt and kill him.

He sees it. I promise that he sees it. Not just against me but against all the top players here. He is called “wgf” among the players in the tekken-community and since he began playing 3s he really lives up to that name. But anyways, i think i understand what you mean by patience a little more now… Have to see how everything will turn out tomorrow i guess.

Grahf, hook us up with some vids if you can plz. Ume-shoryu players are always entertaining to see.

No one can react to throw start-ups and DP accordingly, not even Daigo and the other top shoto players in Japan. Are you sure you don’t mean he’s reacting to throw whiffs instead? Otherwise, sorry to say but he’s just plain reading you because it’s impossible to react within 2-3 frames.

I’d like to see your partner’s umeshoryu. Could upload some vids Graphf Swe? =)

Akuma is indeed a tough matchup for Urien.
Hol Horse, you can’t reason with a “one parry ant it’s over” logic against Akuma. If Akuma eats a low fierce it’s because he sucks or forgot to combo anything into a MK or HK tatsu. Red-parry the last hit of tatsu? First of all how do you know which tatsu it is?
I suggest staying the fuck away from Akuma, and if you’re on the defensive look to tech throw and run the fuck away. And stay the fuck away. =D

That wasn’t meant to be taken literally, it was an exhagerated way to say just that at least Urien’s capacity of dealing big damage and Akuma’s lack of stamina and stun resistence help a bit (otherwise it would be an impossible matchup).
I didn’t say parry the last hit of tatsu, I specified HK tatsu. If you look for it, it’s possible to recognize that. MK tatsu does 3 hits, HK tatsu does 5. You have to look really close. If he stops after the 3rd spin, yoi can throw him or standing stron -> whatever, if the 4th spin comes then you parry the 5th. I’m not saying that it’s easy, doing that requires lots of concentration and great reactions. I can’t do that “tatsu confirming” consistently, but it can be done.
Anyway of course I try to avoid being in that position, since it’s a nightmare to get out. I stay away all the time if I can, but grahf was asking about the lockdown so I answered some tips to help softening the lockdown at least a bit.
Oh and landing just one red parry can be enough… not that it makes the match over, but then the opponent will hesitate to spam those tatsus like a whore, and than you get some air to breath.

4 new questions.

1st question! Is it possible to groundxup akuma/shotos in corner? What I mean is when you knock him down and he quickrises, can urien dash through him? I’ve been trying a lot and it sometimes seems as if urien wants to do it put i get pulled back?

2nd question! Once akuma does a hurricane kick and you are in air, in a jump vs. jump situation, what can Urien do? Parry? Everytime I press something he’s tatsu beats it -_-

3rd question! How do you parry > st. strong > ex headbutt?

I saw a vid on rx doing this. I’ve given it some goes but can’t seem to get it down.

4th question! In general, what is uriens most reliable wakeup against akuma? headbutt? ppp AR? jabs/shorts into whatever?

4th question
headbutt is unreliable for meatys but good when you think he’ll go for a throw. ppp ar is also unreliable as if the hit hits you meaty then the ar disappears. not sure what you mean by jab/shorts as anything meaty will cancel them.

unless there’s a specific setup which I don’t know about, the answer is no

if you ever find yourself air vs air against him (you should try to avoid that), you can parry (but then you are forced to guess upon landing).
If you are not too close to him you can actually attack him, the best position is being above and a bit far away.
Depending on the angle, either jMK, jMP, jHP, jLP, really early jHK can work, it’s hard to explain since there are lots of variables, and anyway you don’t have anithing solid. It’s a desperate situation, really, try to avoid air to air against akuma. Superjump can help you a little bit since it gives you more chances to be above him (the only not so desperate air to air situation)

mad, insane execution skills. You hold d/b, neutral, tap f, neutral+strong~up+pp, all as fast as you can. Don’t worry too much if you can’t do it, anyway 99% of the time you should just cHP after a close parry anyways.

block.
Headbutt only if you predict a throw. PPP aegis can work, it’s actually quite decent since it has a 1-frame startup, but remember that it gets beat by a well timed meaty so don’t abuse it.

About the midscreen unblockable with the whiffed RH tackle, do you have to dash partition the RH tackle? In the first post, it said Alex, Dudley Remy, Necro and others midscreen unblockable so that’s the one i’m talking about. and so does that mean that this whiffed tackle only works on certain characters while the other combo that has the RH tackle hit works only on other characters (ie characters that are not Alex, Dudley, Remy, Necro)?
I also saw this match between Ken and Urien and Urien knocked Ken down midscreen and did jab aegis. Then he did a RH knee drop. Is that also dash partitioned?

“DASH TACKLE” means dash, tackle.

YES IT IS PARTITIONED.

…I don’t know. You tell me. You’re the one who watched this match.

actually that was your match i was watching. It was the second round in the second match with the green ken in the spring whaling video.

Edit: nm i think it was charge partitioned as well.

Dash tackle vs. Dudley is soooooo fucken hard. I get it like once every half an hour in training mode. I hate Dudley.

Why Dudley?

Does the dash tackle hit for you or something?

oh…another noob question: does the charge partioned move make you cross over or is it the move’s property itself? I saw RX dash headbutt in one of his vids over Hugo while he was crouching…was it because Hugo was crouching or was it because the headbutt was partitioned? Would a regular headbutt crossover a cr.Hugo?

I dunno… try it out?

I don’t think partioning changes your special move… it just allows you to do them when you otherwise couldn’t.
