mp / fp headbutts will go over crouching Hugo, assuming he’s close enough. Partitioning is as stated by Drunken Master, it just lets you do it when you ain’t suppose to
Any other tips for the dudley dash-tackle unblockable? I was goofing around against a Hugo dummy today trying to get it, and surprisingly, I got it 4-5 times (for the first time ever) … The previous advice of “wait for the gis in aegis reflector” is great, however at my arcade the sound is hard as hell to hear cause it’s really noisey. Looks like I’m going to have to get another method to pull this one off against people. I notice the throw, MP reflector, dash, headbutt has the exact same timing on this, which would be the reason that these two unblockables are the hardest for me. Guess I’ve just gotta let it sink in and practice huh?
Sorry if this has been posted already, I dont have time to read the whole thread right now.
My question is about the unblockable where you do a powerbomb, LP Aegis, FP Headbutt, quarrel kick and launch. Is this character specific? It seems some characters get up too fast for me to get over them. If so, can someone tell me which characters it works on?
My problem is similar. I can do standing aegis, then dash tackle/headbutt all fucking day. I can do tackle xx Aegis on a standing opponent, followed by dash headbutt/tackle all fucking day. But if I do tackle xx aegis off c.fp (i.e an airborne opponent) the dash comes out, but no tackle/headbutt. It’s so frustrating, because it doesn’t make sense at all. Can anybody here do tackle xx aegis, dash headbutt/tackle on an airborne oppoenent consistently? If so, what’s your timing? And why does the same timing I use for the first two secenerios always work, but never work for this one?
I really don’t understand what your problem is, ESPECIALLY if you can do your other 2 scenarios just fine. Just try experimenting with doing it later or earlier. That’s pretty much all you can do for now. Practice them IN A MATCH where it counts too. You should have an easier time at home, though.
NO, THERE IS NO EXTRA HIT, OR DIFFERENT PROPERTIES OF AEGIS ON PS2.
I’ve never had a problem executing what I learn at home in the arcade. My execution is pretty solid. It’s not a matter of nerves or anything. Once I get the timing, it’s good as gold once I hit the arcade. Casual or tourny, doesn’t matter.
But it’s just simply the fact that for some stupid reason, that specific scenerio will not produce a dash headbutt/tackle, period. And I’m doing the exact same thing I do for the earlier two examples. I can’t figure it out. :shake:
I know the unblockable is unblockable (duh), but how come people can’t wake up with a super or dp (like…I don’t know, Ken’s EX dp) when they’re knocked down and Urien is going to hit them with the f +mk (in the midscreen unblockable)? What happens if you try it? I’d try it out myself but I can’t record myself doing the midscreen unblockable yet. If I’m lucky I get out the partitioned headbutt after the RH tackle a few times but that’s it.
the unblockable is a meaty, meaning it’ll snuff everything without invincible frames. Supers being a different story.
Supers without invincible frames would trade. Supers such as the shinshoryuken and shoryu-cannon would overide your unblockable efforts though, since they contain some of the highest number of invincible frames in the game (for supers).
Akuma has a good way of countering the corner unblockable with his kkz (rare though, but still possible I’ve encountered it a number of times, with the akuma saving his 2 guages for the dashing demon), since the execution is ‘down X 3 + PPP’ it obliviates the fact that urien is crossing over with his knee. The down side is that it’ll trade with the aegis after it finishes, somehow it doesn’t snuff the aegis, but Akumas’ done substanial damage already.
those having trouble with the c.hp, tackle, hp aegis, dash tackle under…
i used to have trouble with this aswell since i found wasnt charging enough when the opponent hit the aegis. you got to start charging half way through the super freeze then dash and charge back as usual then tackle underneath. i found it easier to just charge back during the aegis then tackle rather than down back. i dont know why.
I’m a relatively new Urien player. I’ve gotten the hang of partitioning which enables me to do all variations of the corner unblockables but that’s about as far as I’m carrying that so far. Before I could only do the shoto version and the double knee drop versions and the latter doesn’t help in the corner much unless you maxed out the juggle limit.
Anyway, I’ll post a few unblockable setups I haven’t seen here so far.
When your back is near to your corner, you can use
c hp (2 hits) lk tackle xx hp aegis, hk tackle xx mp aegis, hk tackle(goes under opponent) dash forward twice and f+mk to break their guard.
This is nice if you have two supers stocked and you love wasting meter as well as watching your opponent eat 2 reflectors at the same time in one unblockable setup. Apart from that, its simple and works on everyone.
This one is probably here somewhere but I haven’t seen it.
c hp, ex headbutt mp sphere xx hp aegis, hp headbutt, hk kneedrop, walk forward, f+mk to break guard.
A few things to note here. The mp sphere xx hp aegis part should have the sphere hit AFTER the super freeze. By then you should already be charging down for your headbutt. Buffer the flash kick motion so you’ll get enough time to execute the knee drop as soon as you land.
Oh yea, there’s the fact that the opponent can escape the setup by quick standing thus making it non guarantee-able. That sucks but its easier said than done. Still a nice setup for to use against your buddies.
The second one I found rather interesting. I used a fp reflector at the end, and follow it up with a dash, headbutt rather than a kneedrop. It sets you up for the same unblockable, however if they quick roll, puts you in prime position to throw them. VERY easy to perform, as the setup makes it so all you have to do is hold down between spaces, no timing required. Haven’t seen it before, so neat stuff - Thanks
That’s:
c hp, ex headbutt, hp sphere xx hp aegis, hp headbutt, dash, hp headbutt, and f+mk to break guard, or in a roll situation, b+lp+lk, followed by another headbutt.
Why you would want to waste meter, i will never understand. The setup can basiclly be done after just a jab headbutt and you waste less meter at the same time. I used to do the things you’ve written before, and still do on casuals, but in a real fight… never. Just a big waste.
Well I basically play casuals. I haven’t entered any tourneys because there are none where I’m at. Besides, I’ve seen RX waste meter if that’s what you mean. The EX headbut is to go toward stun. Thus why you connect with two HBs instead of one.
Besides, its not like I’m saying you HAVE to use it. It’s an option like every other combo or suggestion people post here. It’s always the player’s job to discern what is useful and what is not, but they cannot do that till they know their available options.
