Real Info on this upcoming patch

Would have been wrong to throw a balance patch 1 or 2 months before Tougeki etc.

Not to mention SCIV balance patches weren’t really great (balancing characters that didn’t need any changes, etc)

Capcom will most likely balance things either in next SFIV iteration (ouch) or in the next “big DLC patch” (hopefully).

But as long as they don’t update Arcade with Fei Long, etc … I don’t think they will bother balancing SFIV at all … sadly

If you dont understand english then why do you even post.

You quote me about wifi and now you are lost? Seriously dude, just stop.

Some people just dont get it.:xeye:

Wow,

Some of you guys have derailed this thread beyond recognition.

I was told that with this new patch, the game is totally playable online. He also said that getting SNK to truly commit to a real patch was very difficult as it was their belief that the netcode was fine because, apparently, it plays fine in Japan. Regardless they agreed to truly try to fix the game and wrote a new patch which is now in testing.

He didn’t imply that it was going to take a month or even two weeks but mentioned it HAS to be tested and approved by both Sony and MS. They HAVE TO approve it before they can post this patch. From what I can tell, Ignition went to bat for us BIG TIME, seriously.

From the way the game is now this is light-years better than what we’ve been stuck with and makes the game “totally playable” <-- (direct quote)

He was very confident that I would be happy with the final product…

Whether or not you think SF4’s netcode is the “best” is truly besides the point. Anyone with even an OK connection knows that it is completely playable and that finding a good connect is well within the realm of possibility. I live in Boston and can some find playable matches (not all) with NYC as it stands with KOF XII now. With this patch, I’m pretty sure we will all be finding some games we can really get into… This dude was very confident in what SNK had managed to put together. They are testing it internationally as well, so they are putting this patch through its paces for real.

System wars have no place in this thread. I was just trying to give the fans of KOF, who are actually interested in the end product, some positive, concrete information I was able to get. I really do think people should be happy about this patch and the effort it took to make it reality…

Big props to Ignition, they really care for us gamers.

I quoted you on the generalization that everyone uses wifi

its there but not everyone uses it

but yeah I’ll stop

I should’ve stopped earlier because you’re a fucking clown

seriously, reading most of your posts here are painful

mod or whoever can deal with this accordingly but it must be said

You words are reassuring. I’m ready to play KOFXII online with some good connections, even if it takes months. Thanks for the updates.

Dudes who are talking about irrelevant shit: take that to FGD/gamefaqs

Reading your 1 liners are painful, you’re an extreme idiot. You have added nothing to any thread I have ever seen you take part in. All you do is quote people with silly little replies with nothing to back anything up. Yes please stop while you are ahead. Its not going to help your rep bar.

Omg amazing and thoughtful skills adding such informative information to this discussion.

Its sad that Ignition has to be begging SNK to fix their game. I guess KOF/SNK games are destined to remain niche/overlooked in the US, if SNK doesn’t get in touch with its audience outside Japan.

Its great we have Ignition getting shit done for us, but its ridiculous that we need a middleman to get word to a giant company thats been around for years.

Maybe they should just sell games in Japan then ? lol

It’s quite clear that they didn’t bother testing latency outside Japan, just wow.

^this

I been a fan of snk since ko94 and fatal 1/2,special,etc but as a company they should be ashamed to have to have middleman BEG THEM to fix their product.

When I become famous, I’ll buy them motherfuckers so that we I can fire them for being so moronic, and ignorant towards us loyal fans.

all the bickering aside, this is actually good news. as is, the game is just gathering dust on my shelf. with a better netcode, it will definately get more play. better late then never i suppose.

still worth the 60 bones for it? i hope so. game is fun as fuck in the arcade.

Just want to give a big thanks for keeping us updated on all this. It does suck that SNK was hesitant to fix the game, but I guess you have to keep in mind that they don’t have a US branch to correspond to directly like Capcom, or a tightly-knit publisher/developer relationship like Arc has with Aksys (I’m aware this isn’t the first SNK game Ignition has published, but it is the first one that really called for a strong correspondence between the two). Hearing about this patch, though, it sounds like Ignition and SNK are getting a real bond going and I foresee good things for the future.

Same here. I picked up blazblue just to tide me over until kof gets the new patch.

Yes good news

I don’t know why but I don’t like BB,I bought it on day one too, I loved GG tho, been playing that after some kof matches, nobody really plays the game anymore it seems

No, they should have just waited 6 months to release it and made sure their netcode and shit was ready to go. At this point there will be no players in 7 months because SNK released unfinished shit and the players have already jumped ship. I moved my preorder money for KOF XII over to other games (Brutal Legend, Modern Warfare 2) just because of what I was reading about XII on release day. Maybe I’ll give SNK another shot in a year or whenever they release their next significant update to XII, but for now I’m over this whole debacle. SFIV netcode isn’t going to get me back. SNK should have cared in the first place and made sure they could compete with the other two top notch fighters that were recently released… AT LAUNCH.

I think SNKP kinda HAD TO release the game at some point, to get some money out of that 2-4 years of development.

They should have waited a little more to beta-test latency etc ? Of course they should have.

But they most likely tested netcode in Japan, thought it was ok (most likely gave the netcode programming to some obscure company -GameSync it seems-) and didn’t bother testing it somewhere else.

Ignition said they were kinda “surprised” when they told SNKP that California could fit a few Japans, etc … (wow ^^) which kinda explains a lot of things on its own.

Now SNK fans are pissed off, newcomers will most likely never come, and reviews are ALL mentioning crappy netcode … sometimes I wonder what kind of huge moron is in charge at SNKP … because it requires some style to fail that hard at launching a game :frowning:

well, SNK thought it was done. Japanese developers are incredibly myopic about stuff like this (they always think of Japan as the only place that matters). Really, we’re fortunate that ignition convinced them to patch it at all~

Meanwhile, we’re all waiting for it to work online.

the game “works” online. I’ve been playing online with yellows all day and haven’t had any issues aside from having to remake the room if some red asshole comes in.

Just spend some time finding a match instead of bitching on the forums and you’ll find a good one!
