BLUR beta is up on Xbox Live right now. Downloaded it, but did not get a chance to play it yet. Don’t know how long it’s going to be up, so take a look while you can.
First off, I’m impressed. Game definately has an arcade feel. In a good way. I mean an L.A. Rush/Outrun, type of feel. Multiplayer matchmaking process seems ok; but I would wonder how it would work when more people start playing. (You level up and unlock more stuff - including cars, so obviously, this is going to be a severe disadvantage to new people.) Netcode is solid - game seems very responsive!!! The tracks also seem big enough to accomodate the high number of cars that will be on the track in multiplayer. Seems like there going for between 2 and 20 cars in some game modes.
Biggest con right now is that I don’t feel a sense of speed at all. I think they want the cars to feel solid (unlike, say a Burnout where you get tapped and go flying); but right now they just feel heavy. My sppedometer says 100, but I feel like I’m doing 35. The colors are also a little bland. However, they seem to be in good shape assuming they get more work in before the release date. My girl’s kids fucking love it though. 8 & 5, they’re actually patiently taking turns to play.
Didn’t take me long to get sold on Blur after playing the Multiplayer Demo. It’s better when you’re blasting Ridge Racer Type 4’s soundtrack while doing so.
When my WRX poo the bed a few months ago, so while trying to figure out my ride situation, I got into japanese racing games. I bought Initial D Special Stage, Wangan Midnight, and the logic tech driving force wheel for the ps3. I was very VERY disappointed when playing Wangan as it is not the same as the Maximum Tune arcade port. But the steering wheel almost goes hand in hand with Initial D. Grid is pretty fun, but not as fun as the Initial D game.
This pic’s 2 years old… Smackdown 2008 LOL. But I will never get rid the TXR’s. They are all original’s not rebought.
The 360 game in the pic Import Tuner Challenge is Tokyo Xtreme Racer/Shutokou Battle X
And the PSP game(not pictured) “Street Supremacy” is Shutokou Battle Zone of Control.
Those two games came out under different names because Crave has use of the TXR name, and didn’t publish those two title in the US.
Nothing touches TXR, GT, and NFS. Fuck the EA haters, Need for Speed except ProStreet… are GDLK. Try using a Logitech wheel on Carbon for the Canyon runs. Shit is sick.
