Racing/driving games thread v1.0 Type-R

Best racing game ever: Gran Turismo 2

Best driving game ever: Driver

Other notables: GT1, Driver 2 and Parallel Lines, Cruisin’ USA, and of course SNES Mario Kart ftw!

Oh snap, that’s hardcore! Isn’t the original arcade cab like monstrously huge? Like take up half a living room type huge? Good shit.

Will take pics & post…It cost me about 1200 to get at my home…

Just the… regular one, omg that Cycraft looks insane. ;_;

Ok ok. I think I’m interested in Split Second now. I hope they drop a multiplayer demo. Though I do still want Blur. I will buy blur.

Here’s the pic of my Daytona 2 cab

I took apart the other one & cleaning it up…

I’ll post better pics whenever i can get it in my gameroom…

^ I need to come over and show you how to play that ish.

BLUR beta is up on Xbox Live right now. Downloaded it, but did not get a chance to play it yet. Don’t know how long it’s going to be up, so take a look while you can.

Whatchyall know about dat [Wacky Wheels](Wacky Wheels) and

Yeah insane is the right word. I played it years ago. This video describes it better than I could http://insider.ign.com/download/movies/japanese/jamma2003/fzeromonster.mov

Initial thoughts on the Blur beta:

First off, I’m impressed. Game definately has an arcade feel. In a good way. I mean an L.A. Rush/Outrun, type of feel. Multiplayer matchmaking process seems ok; but I would wonder how it would work when more people start playing. (You level up and unlock more stuff - including cars, so obviously, this is going to be a severe disadvantage to new people.) Netcode is solid - game seems very responsive!!! The tracks also seem big enough to accomodate the high number of cars that will be on the track in multiplayer. Seems like there going for between 2 and 20 cars in some game modes.

Biggest con right now is that I don’t feel a sense of speed at all. I think they want the cars to feel solid (unlike, say a Burnout where you get tapped and go flying); but right now they just feel heavy. My sppedometer says 100, but I feel like I’m doing 35. The colors are also a little bland. However, they seem to be in good shape assuming they get more work in before the release date. My girl’s kids fucking love it though. 8 & 5, they’re actually patiently taking turns to play.

Go download that beta~!!!

^

I’m cool with the sense of speed. There’s a speedometer? I guess if you want speed unlock the highest speed class?

I’m glad you enjoy everything else though. I was telling these sucka mcs that it’s going to be a good game.

PS. Demo is available to everyone now. So no need to rush to it like they are going to take it down.

Where’s the TXR, Kaido battle love?? I spent the whole summer after i graduated from high school rotating between a3, mvc2 and txr.

Didn’t take me long to get sold on Blur after playing the Multiplayer Demo. It’s better when you’re blasting Ridge Racer Type 4’s soundtrack while doing so.

Anyone playing Forza3? I need some friendly comp/racing pal (when I get my 360 back from M$)

Actually yeah I’m pretty big on Forza 3. hit me up sometime, I could use another racing pal too.

I haven’t played in months but I’d be willing to dick around with you guys in a race.

When my WRX poo the bed a few months ago, so while trying to figure out my ride situation, I got into japanese racing games. I bought Initial D Special Stage, Wangan Midnight, and the logic tech driving force wheel for the ps3. I was very VERY disappointed when playing Wangan as it is not the same as the Maximum Tune arcade port. But the steering wheel almost goes hand in hand with Initial D. Grid is pretty fun, but not as fun as the Initial D game.

Silhouette Dance. =D

Nah.

Motor Species, Move Me and The Ride are this soundtrack’s S-Tier.

Eat 'Em Up is the glorious, cheap, overpowered boss track that’s banned from all tournaments because it’s too good.

I am THE TXR man. I still have them all.

This pic’s 2 years old… Smackdown 2008 LOL. But I will never get rid the TXR’s. They are all original’s not rebought.

The 360 game in the pic Import Tuner Challenge is Tokyo Xtreme Racer/Shutokou Battle X

And the PSP game(not pictured) “Street Supremacy” is Shutokou Battle Zone of Control.

Those two games came out under different names because Crave has use of the TXR name, and didn’t publish those two title in the US.

Nothing touches TXR, GT, and NFS. Fuck the EA haters, Need for Speed except ProStreet… are GDLK. Try using a Logitech wheel on Carbon for the Canyon runs. Shit is sick.

Carbon was alright, ProStreet was garbage, didn’t play Most Wanted, don’t want to ever play Undercover, and Shift is only worth it if you own a 360.

Classic Era NFS > Everything else though. Especially Hot Pursuit 2.
