Just to clarify:
Blur and S/S are being released on both 360 and PS3. Split/Second will have a PC release too. However, the Multiplayer Beta of Blur is 360-only. Sorry if I didn’t make myself clear enough.

Wipeout HD is SOOO GOOOD. The great Pure tracks on the big screen, and you can roll boost off of nearly any bump or lift on the track. And Christ, Phantom Class is fast. And custom soundtrack and unbelievable visuals (no slowdown or tearing-- dunno how they pulled that off)-- it’s basically my favorite PS3 game. My PS3 isn’t hooked up at the moment, but I already downloaded Fury off PSN… can’t wait to check out Eliminator and the other racing modes.
EDIT: Uh, my old car was a turbo Skyline, 240 bhp but I didn’t mod it or anything.
Fun fact: I bought a PS3 for Wipeout HD. Fuck God of War, Uncharted, LBP and all that other stuff. Wipeout HD Fury is the best PS3 exclusive there is. And they sell it in Blu-Ray form. (only in Europe though, but it’s region-free!)
Jealous! I’d rather have Wipeout on a disc instead of on random sections of a harddrive. Too bad I can’t find a game store/site that imports from Europe.
Damnit, everyone is boning out on me to help me pick up my Daytona cab…Looks like i have to wait another week!
Back to Ridge Racer 7 and trying to max out the manufacturer points for all the car makers! It’s the best of all the PS3 launch titles IMO.
Plus I gave up playing Wipeout for lent, but once easter rolls around, I’m going to try and finish the Fury campaign in HD…
Speaking of Wipeout, I hope this is true:

Hydro Thunder: Hurricane was unveiled today at PAX East. Supports online multiplayer and 4-player split-screen. XBLA only.

And I think I just jizzed a little after watching this.
NFSU2 is my favorite racing game ever. I’d cop a hi-res port on xbla in a second.
I hate sim racers. No fun at all, to me.
I hate Nintendo because my two favorite racers are Wave Race and F-Zero, and I would kill to see those done in HD
What’s happing with an H2Overdrive home port? That sounds more like the next step for Hydro Thunder-- Hurricane looks/sounds like a reboot/remix of the original.
I don’t know if there will be a port of H2Overdrive.
One thing to keep in mind is that H2Overdrive is being made by Raw Thrills, which was founded by many of the same dudes that worked on the original. However, at the time it was made, Midway was still around. Then Midway went broke and pretty much all their assets were liquidated and I guess Microsoft was able to nab the rights to the Hydro Thunder name and boats in similar fashion to how EA got NBA Jam from Midway. (and how Throwback Entertainment bought Extreme-G after Acclaim died but have yet to release a new game…pricks)
Wow, didn’t even know there was a thread like this here. A few weeks ago I made a site based around arcade style racing games, since there’s really nothing like that around. Has a forum and stuff like that.
If you register, there’s no email confirmation, I just have to approve the account manually.
As for this H2O port stuff, where did that come from? People at GAF keep talking about a PC port as if someone suggested it could happen.
I just made an account there Dandy. EDIT: And now I’m advertising the site in my sig.
Whether or not I want a H2Overdrive port depends largely on 1) if I can find an arcade version and can play it at some length and 2) how well HTH faithfully recreates the original while giving it a modern feel with the water physics. Whether or not it’ll happen depends on I have no earthly idea.
This spring and summer will be good to fans of arcade racers. Blur, S/S, ModNation, Hydro Thunder Hurricane, hopefully a new F-Zero will be announced at E3…
…and sim fans will have plenty to cheer for with Forza 3 DLC, F1 2010, rFactor 2 and hopefully GT5.
the best part about wipeout was putting the cd in my car when i went driving.
not that i didn’t like the game, but the soundtrack was dope.
i can’t believe people in this thread are buying daytona cabs, that’s nuts. how hard is it to convert one of those into a tokyo wars machine?? LOL. i love that game.
Forza got really boring really quick. i mean it looks gorgeous when i replay it, but playing first person mode all i get to look at is pavement flying by.
anyway i was trying to join blur but the codes they gave me did not work.
Tokyo Wars was hella awesome. My dad used to play against me in that back when I was 8 or 9 and the local arcade was still owned by Namco and not some idiot that has no grasp of what an arcade should be (hint: Deal or No Deal is the big attraction there).
Though what I really want is a CyberSled: HD Remix or something. That game was dope on PS1 and Arcade.
tech romancer said all that needs to be said on the first page
F-zero gx…lol…ggpo
that game is so amazing in intensity, gameplay, difficulty, even graphics imo (for its time/system of course) that its really hard to play any other racing game. the only games that even come close are wipeout and pod racer for n64 but those games even lacked the personality of f-zero…
driving sims are way too boring imo. i played gt3 to death, beat that game completely, endurance races and all and I am a worse human being for it. I have no idea how I had the patience to sit in front of a tv screen watching NOTHING happen
I only got to play the version of F-Zero G-X in the arcades with the crazy seat. Shit blew my mind five ways.
I got my Daytona 2 cab last Thursday…Shit was a pain in the ass loading & unloading it to the garage. Now i need to find a way to get it in my gameroom.
some pics man, what did you pay for it btw?
