Sup fellow rachel players. I read over this thread a little and noticed all the same gripes and troubles that a typical rachel user goes through. I too suffered through this all but Im finally at the point where I understand wtf is going on and what Im supposed to do haha.
But for the most part people here are correct… you gotta use the pumpkin like its your best friend as far as approaching your opponent. Zoning and being extremely patient are also big factors to pulling out a W online or off. Im not much for explaining strategies and all but I plan on uploading a bunch of my Rachel replays to my Youtube channel to help some people get a better idea of what shes capable of. Im not saying they are expert vids but for me … Its nice to see improvement. I took a hell of alot of beatings trying to learn this vampire chick haha
Electric chair is working wonders, but my small pokes arent hitting. I must not be hitting when I have an opening or SOMETHING because I couldnt squeeze in a 2B by mashing. Im lost.
Well against more short range rushdown characters her 2C can be good, but not against Hakuman (because his sword doesn’t count as part of him so it just passes through and leaves you finishing off the animation to get beat on at full force) or a Ragna if he uses his 214B a lot because it clashes with it twice and recovers quicker.
Edit: This is noob advice so test it for yourself before using it in any match that you feel may matter.
Against B and C versions, you can just block both hits and punish afterward with 5B > 5CD > whatever. This is the easiest and safest way to punish, but you have a very small amount of time to input the 5B, and you pretty much have to mash it like crazy. Even then, sometimes (maybe like 30% of the time, from my experience) it just won’t hit them on time no matter how hard you mash. It seems more random that anything.
The best way to punish is to instant block the second hit and punish with whatever. It’s a little more risky, but you’re guaranteed to land your punishing combo afterward. If your opponent gets wise and starts using the A version more often, you will have to react accordingly and punish after the single hit. If it’s giving you problems, you can avoid situations like this by staying out of range. I think the A version only goes around halfscreen, so stay beyond that distance to be safe.
You can also react to the icening’s startup and hit 2C (or 6A, harder to time though) as they start flying toward you. It will beat out the icening clean and knock them down, but you won’t be able to follow up with a combo unless you RC. I don’t really recommend this method unless your opponent keeps switching between the A and B/C versions and it’s really messing you up.
I’m not really the most knowledgeable Rachel player out there so I may have just posted a bunch of bullshit, someone please correct me if I said anything wrong
same here i cant seem to beat a good carl i always seem to get caught in the middle a bad place to be when all the carls i know know the Up-c clap combo crab technique, i try to avoid the doll as much as possible:sweat:
