Her limited range put herself at risk situations. I dunno how exactly, but they need to fix her v-skill and make it become in a strong anti projectiles tool. I’m really sick and tired of training harder, learning here and on youtube particular techniques and then losing to zonners Ryu or Ken around. Ryu is even harder 'cause his parry neutralizes some of basic moves of hers (I usually try to get close with c. mk).
I do love Mika, she’s fun as a hell, but I think they should improve her range a little bit, or even make her mic useful against projectiles.
Do you have some idea how to control space against Ken and Ryu? How dealing with their projectiles themselves? I suspect everyone in this roster has tools to react to hadoukens but only she is an exception. Am I wrong?
We are struggling against Karin, Claw, Birdie, Nash, Sim and Bison. Can you imagine getting close to Ibuki, Boxer and Guile when the time comes? That’s going to be insane, and it seems that Mika is getting figured out sooner than expected IMO
You shouldn’t be losing to projectiles, they’re bad in this game. She has plenty of anti-projectile tools. And you can definitely use mic against projectiles. Wouldn’t recommend it, but you can.
Karin isn’t a struggle, Birdie either.
Also, TSabin just picked up mika, and he’s #1 online, so yeah.
The mic is not an anti-projectile tool. It is a taunt, and an easily punished one. I think the only good use for it is either to fill your v-meter after a knock down that you don’t want to set up for, or during a daze into super when you’ve already hit a heavy scaling penalty.
Karin, Nash, Birdie, Sim and Bison are okay in my book. Probably won 70% of my matches against them.
Chun and Vega though…
I do agree that at higher ranks people are aware of Mika’s shenanigans. The the thing is she has so many shenanigans that they can’t guess right 100% of the time, and when they guess wrong their lifebars feel it.
I know about some c.HK 's that I didn’t punish in this match, gotta be on point with those, but it’s due to Rashid’s movement which is so erratic and shit. How can I take momentum against a character like this? It is insane, if I knock him down, I can’t just try LadyMika if he has metter, sometimes he decides to spend it, sometimes not, it’s a mix for both of us. Also if I land a LadyMika when I get him cornered and try a c.MP xx Trigger, and if I jump, he can CA me, so most of the times it’s out of the question. Damn this character is hard to use, i swear to God sometimes I think she’s not that good os some people say, it’s so frustrating, specially when they read your command grabs and the wiff animatiom lasts forever.
Its a risk you take. if he ex mixers you, its not ALOT of damage but you know he’s scared and can possibly bait it.
And if you’re making him spend meter, he can’t CA you.
Yes, whiffing grabs sucks. Welcome to Mikatown.
There aren’t alot of Rashids around so I would encourage everyone to just play against him alot so your losses and wins will be determined by decision making and not match unfamiliarity.
Rashid will be a very difficult match up. One big problem is mika can’t contest his buttons, however her normal range is a bit longer than rashid so its possible to keep him out. But this brings along the 2nd and 3rd problem. Rashid is quite ambiguous and its very hard to tell what he will or will not do. Further more if you do manage to get him in the corner he has the most ways to escape it than any other character in the game. Mika also has no safe way to approach him either.
I was surprised that no one mentioned the match up, but I guess its because Rashid really is rare. I have a friend who plays him, who is quite good with him. I’ve done a lot of sets against him and I noticed how mika vs rashid will be a very difficult match. It feels similar to Bison, in how you can’t really contest his normal due to most of them being safe.
Rashid is a tricky matchup, but I don’t feel it’s a terrible one.
If you’re fullscreen, slide and he’ll run into it if he dares to do anything. Tornados aren’t an issue unless you keep neutral jumping like a spazz, in the corner they both wreck the shit out of each other, EX Mixer is invincible but it’s the only thing he has, so there’s not much to worry about and your frametraps are better than his. Just don’t let him get away with shit and get those blocks on point and you should be good.
One of the best players in my area (Pony, of MvC3 fame) plays Rashid, I’ve been playing the matchup a ton recently and I was able to beat him in losers finals of our locals recently. It’s definetly doable.
So far I really think our shit matchups are the shotos and Chun. Nash is more than playable since even if he beats you in neutral, his offence is one dimentional as fuck and he has no wakeup.
Then again, we’re in week 4. These numbers are probably wrong since we still have to figure out a ton of optimal shit.
AFAIK Eagle Strike beats slide, but no rashid should be doing random eagle strike since Mika can just wreck him for daring to do that shit on block. The trick is making sure there’s no way the slide will be blocked, it either whiffs or it eats something.
I feel like the problem with Ken is that he has workable shoto tools in neutral and I personally have issues dealing with his frametraps. Beefy ass dude.
I’ve tried playing around with this, and I’ve been confused. Sometimes, you can punish eagle strike w/ passion press into KO.
Other times, I can’t seem to passion press it. I had a conversation and they said it’s so negative you could dash in grab if you needed to after block.
You can’t hit it with any normals, can’t wingless it, I think it has something to do with the strength of the eagle strike, I dunno.
In short, I’m fuckin’ confused cuz this dude is too turbulent.
