It a big steo in the right direction. Props it takes commitment to practice a thousand combos. Most people don’t do it. I just wanted to talk about buffering ultra I have been messing around and notice if I do cr.mp after a untechable knockdown and the sagat decides to backdash or uppercut(I think you have four frames to play with until he hits you) he eats ultra. Whats cool is the cr. mp can landon both block or hit and the ultra does not come out.Provided it’s early enough. Also you have to be closer than I would like to be with cr mp so maybe that would make it situational but it’s just something I found.Only drawback besides losing charge is if you have a super it will come out on block but if you have one bar ex scissor will not come out on block.
wow guru in the lab for the team! thats a tight OS. folks love to backdash on bison…i mean he’s dashing up to you what is he going to do? start a blockstring, go for a little meaty poke, or throw. backdash nullifies all of that.
so how does this work in training mode exactly? how do you set it up? like record the dummy backdashing over and over and then knock him down and try the OS? also i dont get how it works if the opponent reversals because you’d have to whiff the cr.mp instead of doing it meaty in that situation right? if you do it meaty you’ll just eat the DP?
Yeah I did some extensive research in training mode and it fared less than optimal. Reason being reversal windows are huge. I was able to beat the uppercut if the sagat player throws it in reaction to the cr.mp which is probaly why I got it in a casual meaning a little late but if he throws it like I don’t care I’m sagat I can take the hit and be stupid .him delaying his reversal causes me to whiff making the ultra come out but thats when I can land it against him.Maybe I should try it with cr.mk.I was able to beat out ex lariat, ex messiah(50/50), lk sumo splash and ex sumo splash, ex seismo.
What I did is I set it too record and had bison as the dummy do a slide while charging cr.mp and ultra quickly if you get crusher you where negative edging even though it doesn’t fell like it sanwas are that sensitive. That way you can see the cr.mp only come out on hit while making sure you are getting the correct timing for the meaty on the specific char and you can mess around with the timing of the reversal. Try it for yourselves too me it’s very situational and I felt salty to see that a knockdown opponent has that much power in a sf game. As far as changing up the timing of his reversal to beat or see what his opponent is going to do.
Also of note the other chars have option Honda with ex hb, viper ex burning, so you have to read your opponent it’s nothing stupid crazy. Hopefully I suck at meaties and you guys can get more consistency. Also the backdash was because the player backdashed late I was only able to get vipers backdash but I only tried it on sagat, chun, viper, and abel so far.Only hitting vipers.
I was watching some Bison videos and Andre does a Headtomp and after block the Skull Driver would cross the opponent and then go back to the front.
How’s that done?
Stomp -> Blocked -> Hold forward until he crosses up -> Hold back until he’s on the original side
The timing of the actual skull driver is something you’ll have to play with yourself, but I’m pretty sure you have to hit it on the way back since its active frames suck.
Question: is there any diffrence between lk mk hk headstomp?
Again, apologies if this has been talked about.
I’ve seen talk about the forward/back-throw empty DR setup that some people like to do. I don’t remember who it was, but they mentioned that if you do a forward-throw, empty DR will land on the close side of your opponent, and if you do a back-throw, empty DR will land you on the far side of your opponent.
I’ve been fucking with this setup, and I’ve found that it’s a little different than what is described above. No matter how you time it, an empty DR after a back-throw will always put you on the far-side of your opponent. But after a forward throw, your landing position depends on how you time your empty DR: if you do empty DR immediately after throw, you’ll land on the far side of your opponent; but if you delay it for a sec, you’ll land on the near side of your opponent.
So, forward-throw empty DR can be extremely ambiguous. I’m not very good with testing complex-ish things in training mode, but it appears that early empty DR will give you time to meaty c.jab, and late empty DR will give you time to at least do meaty c.short.
Something to play with.
The Valle.
With a twist!
yeap, I should have ended my comment with an exclamation mark lol. i mean lol!
forgive if its the wrong thread sorry but could someone show me a video where the an OS is visible, like against akuma’s tele or someone backdashiing and getting swept for it with a visible OS. or are they not visible? cause it seems like you should see the first lp should be visible before the sweep but I’v never seen any one use them with bison.
^ I second this.
I recorded some of the dictator option selects I use , uploaded them here: .
I didn’t do any video editing, hope it’s still useful for some people. All the stuff can be found in various threads here on these boards too.
Good shit!
I’ve been using ‘c.jab, s.jab~s.rh …’ on wakeup, and I use ‘j.fierce ~ c.rh …’ on safejumps. My favs.
One useful thing I forgot to record: when you pressure Blanka in the corner you can use the c.LP, s.LP+HK option select to hit his incredibly annoying EX rainbow roll with a s.HK.
Interesting. Thanks for the nice vids, Vega_Red. I’ll start training these into my game. One suggestion if you are going to record stuff like that though: Activate the training mode’s “show input data” function. This can help people time their OS correctly.
EDIT: Just noticed you’re Venomat123 from GFWL.
I bet you can also O-S between close s.fierce / s.roundhouse. This would be useful if you’re going for a frametrap on wakeup (meaty c.short, s.rh ~ close s.fierce…)
Good stuff. I’ve only been using like 2 of these. I’ve been trying to find out more stuff. Have you tried anything like OS teleports?
I’ve never tried option select teleports so far, but I sometimes use OS throw after a jump-in against Abel’s roll. Should probably work against Viper’s EX Seismo too in some scenarios.
I think the input data function only shows the inputs of my own character, not those of the dummy (who actually does the OS), or am I mistaken?
no you the player does the OS… its the inputs you put in to make sure you get a guranteed hit if they try to backdash or teleport on wakeup.
