That’s my point exactly though. Don’t throw fireballs like your ryu. Ryu can basically DP any jump in unless it’s preemptive thanks to is awesome reversal. Rose on the other hand has the problems listed above on my previous post.
Well maybe i was so used to super balrog’s jump fierce. That shit was too good. It went from godlike to good after the AE nerfs. That spaced jump in forced you to slide or block because you couldn’t reach him with either cr. fierce OR EX ST. And even sliding was dangerous because you might be at negative.
@zangief
-Your best bet is to condition them with medium fireball. It works. Condition them with medium fireball and then mix it up with light fireball. Just don’t try to do meaty fireballs on balrog’s wakeup. Only do it from AT LEAST 3/4+ screen away where you have a chance to bdash or reaction reversal.
-pay attention to charge
-know ways of pushing him back e.g. st. forward, cr. strong, cancels into fireball, safe blockstrings
-st. forward --> slide will RAPE balrog. He. Can’t. Do. Anything.
-end blockstrings with cr. strong and bait out his headbutts
-jab spiral punish dash punches. Be careful of negative edge though.
No, Ryu can’t throw fireball against Balrog either like that; he has to space them just as far as Rose and Rose’s fireball gives more trouble to Balrog because Balrog has to do a preemptive jump or get hit by Rose’s fireballs.
Mixed in with Rose’s ranged normals, decent anti-air and spirals to mix in against dash punches, as well as her godlike throw range (duh), it makes up for an even fight.
HOWEVER; Jab makes the match up hard.
And that’s the only thing that would make it hard.
timing is all i can say on that one.
Random casual set with a friend (Guile learning Ryu). Pretty sure I was drunk or near it when these were taken.

All the risks, that slide abuse and the missed/uncapitalized opportunities. And still using full FA/not releasing when I mean too… pretty sure that’s a prob for me even when sober.

OTOH, sliding under U1 like a champ. I guess I’ll take the good stuff from here and implement them in my sober play.

I like that Rose a lot, he plays a good mixture of offense and defense, it’s great
I’d still use u1 against makoto imo. Can catch whiffed axe kicks.
Either one works against Makoto; she’s not Zangief where U2 is just bad now >>
I like to counter-ultra pick with Makoto. You can’t bait her into jumping when she has U2 really, and she’s free on wakeup as long as you don’t try to cross her up, so Soul Satellite is nice too.

I need to have this patience ._.
Seriously. The difference between me and that Rose is I press a lot more buttons. lol
Well to be fair this is one of those staring contest matches. I think this is ‘the’ staring contest match out of all of rose’s annoying matches. Everything any player does is punishable by the other side on reaction. All that blanka can really do is slide. All rose can really do is fireball. Both players watch out for the opponent’s respective move and space themselves accordingly. Rose has her slide to break the opponent’s charge since they have to respace themselves unless they want to get hit by a 0/+1 slide. Or she can back up and throw fireballs. Lastly, her goal is to mainly push Blanka into the corner w/o receiving too much damage.
Well, there isn’t a lot of people that will just sit there and block along with you to have a second to think.
Most of us are americans; a lot of us live in the west coast; the chaotic west coast rushdown or the east coast; the impenetrable turtles of the world.
But if anything that both coasts have in common is that we press a lot of buttons and walk forward a lot with no patience
I wonder if all of us had that much patience.
You’re so right Anton. Never have I played a game in the arcade where we give eachother time to think. Fireballs start getting throw and rush down attempts occur within seconds of the match starting.

Rose matches are at 11:20 and 18:50.
I really wonder… when the Rose reflect the EX sonic boom from Guile…was it reaction or pure guess ? because if it was reaction…the things about ex spiral being too fast for a human to react to might be denied by this video
