that rose is a grandmaster?
that rose is japanese
Shit. Japanese Rose’s have finally gotten around to using the ST crossup trick. The initial hit doesn’t cross up but the crux of the move isn’t the first hit. It’s the second hit which seems to cross up only to land on the same side. Crossup fake out. It fucks up people with fast reactions who react to rose falling down thinking she’s going to land on the opposite end.
No need to explain it, it’s been there since 3 days after original super came out lol.
1:40 on.
About 30 minutes of me playing Air-Ryu (his Yang, and then his ryu)
I did good, but sadly I wont get any better than this, unless my execution get’s better. I think this is my wall personally. I need to break it somehow.
If anyone has some time to watch it, (the ryu matches that start in part 4) lemme know what I failed on (other than execution)
I think you use light spiral a little too much. If I’m close enough that using cr.mp m spiral would be punishable, I just use cr.lp and go into a blockstring instead. Most characters can punish a blocked light spiral pretty easily, especially Yang. It also whiffs a lot. That and watch the meter. The meter you wasted by throwing EX sparks a full screen away could’ve been used to FADC a regular spark and bait a jump for U1 or converted into a super. I don’t really have anything else. It looks like you just need more game sense instead of stuff to work on with Rose as a character.
Also, does anyone else think there’s a bug with soul sparks and U1? A lot of the time when I catch someone neutral jumping my soul spark and go for U1, they land on the spark when they wouldn’t have if I didn’t throw out U1.
@Yang
Yea, you got pressured by safe divekicks. And Rose basically has no answer to that besides going air to air. I’ve been on the other end of that and it basically feels like a 9-1 matchup where you pray he does an unsafe divekick for you to EX SPIRAL through.
I think you ended all your blockstrings with light spiral, which is really bad. You have to mix it up. Light spirals are mainly true blockstrings but they tend to be more unsafe than not against characters with good stand/crouch shorts or crouch forward attacks. Try mixing it up and ending it with EX FIREBALL or fireball or just cr. strong and then neutral jumping. If he decides to divekick right away you can air to air him. Plus, EX FIREBALL pushes him away leaving you safe and if he tries to jump it should catch his jump frames.
You didn’t go for many tick throw setups. That’s one of her biggest strengths. But against better players you have to do really odd tick timing. If you go for the basic cr. jab > cr. short > throw or wakeup throw that everyone else does he won’t fall for it. Cr. jab > Cr. jab > cr. short > walk forward > throw works really well by abusing rose’s ridiculous range. Against yang, if you try to go for meaty throw/sc. forward he’ll probably just DP and worry about it later. The risk reward is in his favor since Rose’s average damage is pretty low and she doesn’t have really good follow up pressure after cr. fierce ~ spiral.
Spiral >> EX SPIRAL only works on characters that don’t have good shorts or have to use slower moves to punish rose. Even if rose wanted to, rose couldn’t punish yang’s s. short ( 3 - 2 - 8 :shake:). Spiral >> EX SPIRAL also is player dependent. Read the other player and adjust accordingly. If you know he likes to press buttons, wrong ones at that, do the stupid shitty frame trap. If he’s a safer player and either only presses safe buttons or blocks, it’s better not to do the spiral trick. It might be better to do Spiral >> cr. strong or just block/bdash.
By ending you blockstrings with normals, it makes your offense safer. By using tickthrows, it forces them to either tech or go for reversals in between your normals. By combining these two, you make both better. If you go for a cr. jab > cr. jab > cr. short tick throw. The next time you end your block string with cr. short they just might decide to mash out. They have to worry about throws and think about your next move as opposed to just holding downback and pressing cr. short after every blockstring since they know you’re going to end with spiral anyways. Rose has to use her throw to open them up and force them to make mistakes.
And lastly, ultra choice. You must have been mulling over this too. During all your yang matches, if you noticed carefully, U1 was pretty much useless. You only got it off once in a haymaker situation or another time when he ran out of ultra to punish your fireball. The fact that you have to use fireball to bait out a jump means that if he has ultra also, you won’t get a chance to to even bait out the jump. Rarely will you get the chance to get it off if yang chooses his anti-fireball ultra.
That’s why I prefer the Satellites. It’s just so much more solid. Once you have ultra 2 and space, you activate and walk them to the wall. Don’t try to do anything fancy. Just walk and block and force them back. No fireballs or anything punishable. Use your judgement. Just a lot of down back. 8 seconds is a long time.
Secondly, with U2 currently falling out of grace, most players don’t really respect the move much. That’s why they’ll usually try to punish it. The one time you did activate ultra 2 air just ended up killing himself on it. If you have it and you get a knockdown or even after a well spaced spiral, just activate it and push them to the corner.
PS: This is just my personal critique. And btw, I don’t think there are many Rose players in the world left that can do anything to safe yang/yun divekick pressure. Besides bdashing, i can’t think of any other solution. I’m trying to find an answer myself here.
PSS: Getting around the Ryu matchup right now. That, i can give more solid advice.
edit: VS. Ryu
Try to get within focus forward dash range. You were standing JUST outside of it. It’s tough but if you can position yourself close and use st. forward to keep away his cr. forward, you’ll be able to reaction focus forward dash punish his fireballs.
Use cr. forward to bait out his focus. Use random fast normals to bait out his jump. He was following the formulaic counter to rose by reacting to rose’s normal with a spaced jump in so that at worse, his j. rh would trade with her cr. fierce.
For slides, he just spaced himself closer so that they were unsafe. In those situations you should probably walk forward cr. strong, st. forward, or cr. forward instead.
And lastly, try to stay out of the corner. But then again this is Air’s ryu. lol. GL with that one buddy. Can’t help you there.
yeah kenny is the god of option selects, so i really have to watch what im doijng around him. The best is when he had no meter and I was like thank god I can finally hit him with u1. then the nerfed tatsu saved him hahah.

It wasn’t my day; I hadn’t played Street Fighter for a while because I’ve been really busy with school, volunteering, and AP classes and stuff…
Managed to pick it up though.
they dont personally hate anton. They hate him because he uses Rose lol. Everyone hates Rose! 1st thing they will complain is about her backdash, then its her cr.mp, after they complain about her throw range. Sometimes its her costume or her hair being “silly”
Pretty much this. I get these kinds of complaints all the time.
Yeah, everyone hates rose, idgaf anymore lol.
And a lot of the streammonsters were locals that personally hate the way I play with her, even though I was having a hella off day missing so much integral shit lol.

It’s something about losing to a gypsy fortune teller that uses a scarf to fight and wears stilettos.
And that her playstyle relies on either being a bitch and running for a little bit, counter hit setups that make her look super fucking unsafe and midrange amazing normals that stuff everything.
It’s a bitch to deal with, I know, but put the bitch on her back and RAPE HER. >.>
man. watching your set again is depressing. It looks oddly familiar to my matches against jorge (hadoken) who also plays ryu. =/
Against ryu, I’m beginning to think a lot of time it’s better to end blockstrings with fireball to push them back, keep them standing, and keep the offense running. Off a spiral techable knockdown, you can’t do much and really have to watch what ryu does since crossups get autocorrected. Anything else is pretty risky.
you can never jump in on air you will always eat an uppercut. That’s why at one point i autopiloted and did it and you hear me yell “NOOOOOOO” but he backdasshed, lol.
Good shit Anton, picked up some stuff for my Rose
Like I honestly think Seth is Rose’s hardest match now; it didn’t use to be this hard, but Rose can’t do shit on wake up lol. You literally have to guess and take a bunch of stun and damage before you get out >.>
empty jump spd, empty jump low, cross up, empty jump cross up spd, empty jump cross up low, jump dive kick front…lol yeah pretty much sums it up
