Psychic Hotline: Rose Video Thread

Ignoring the first part where I tried to prove an akuma wrong ( I’m pretty sure I’m right too), I found out that Rose has an unblockable against Akuma.

I made Rose my second. I still have a lot to learn but watching sksksksksk’s Rose really, really helped me a lot. Here is some recent matches

what do you think i should work on? My Rose is so new but im having lots of success with her. Thanks again sksksk! Your videos are super helpful!

I’m glad the videos have helped!

That’s how my matchup against my rival’s Yun is right now. Still pretty maintainable, starting to forget the lack of ultra2 and just playing a bit more careful.

Here are a bunch of matches of me using Rose.

I noticed no one put these matches up, but if people are interested, here is a few of Luffy’s matches from Bushido Impact:

Me vs an akuma.

Deleted all my saved replays missed one, decided to upload

-You kept forgetting that Rose loses her ability to throw fireballs toward midgame and endgame. Her recovery is so bad that any sort of reactionary punish on Yang’s part is easy. That player just didn’t know but better players will. I also wouldn’t throw fireballs at the start of the round until I determined whether they’re jump happy or not. Lol @ the fireball 16 seconds in. He was nearly full screen and still punished you. Yay for shitty recovery.
-Good job buffering the ST. Yang is floaty. Abuse the fact that he stays longer in the air.
-I liked your corner pressure though I don’t know if i would be ballsy enough to do a meaty fireball on their wakeup. That’s kind of why I prefer U2. In situations like the one you were in 34 seconds in where you switch spots with the other player, you can do U2 and get the full 8 seconds of pressure. Then, you could just st. forward and cr. strong > spiral all day until they let up and you can throw them. Nevertheless, sick cr. fierce > heavy fireball > cr. strong frametrap.
-Off a forward throw, slide > cr. short is meaty so it’ll catch their cr.techs. No need to use sc.forward IMO. You can use sc. forward I guess if you think they’re going to delay their tech. But in that case, I would use slide > throw instead since the throw would be meaty then. This is all off of the forward throw mind you. I simply prefer cr. short since it gives me way more frame advantage.

Your game is real solid. Besides the fireball issue, everything else is just preference and style of play.

@jason87

Yeah, I usually don’t use a lot of fireballs with Rose but when I do…It tends to be at the worst possible time. I have to work on that!! Thanks for the tips and advice, I really do appreciate it!!

thats really solid. Nice consistency on the links and indeed a frametrap you don’t see often. The super part had me confused though, was it planned to do a jab into super there?

No I actually wanted st.mp into super. I usually OS Rose’s super from st.mp when they’re in that range as a counter poke.

Thanks for actually watching the video!!

Nice Rose, Genistar. Here’s some things I noticed:

  1. Nice soul throw reactions. Some whiffs, but a lot of good reads.

  2. Like one of the commentators predicted in one of your matches, “EX Spiral again!” You seem to use your meter as soon as you get it. Try holding onto it longer to either combo into a super, cancel out of an EX spiral in dire situations, or cancel out of a spark to bait out ultras or reversals. And it’s always nice looking down at your bar and having 3 bars or even full!

  3. You seem to back off after knock downs pretty often. Yeah, Rose doesn’t really excel at an in-your-face kind of playing against some of the cast, but at least against Sagat, once you get a knockdown, stay within cr. mp/ cr. mk range to keep him guessing. Also, when you stand close it gives you an opportunity to punish any reversal attempts + you can start your frame traps or tricks. I like to throw out a hp reflect after knock down sometimes just to throw them off. ha

  4. More cr. hp > spiral punishes!!

  5. I also heard you got an 18 (?) game win streak with Rose! Congrats, man! I love the reactions you get at the arcade getting big win streaks with ROSE! I went to the arcade in LA a month or so ago and was on a 40 game win streak against some good players. My neck and back were killing me so I THANKED the person that beat me for relieving me of my pain! lol

Also, I wish I had some recent matches of mine online so you guys could all help me out with my Rose, too! :frowning:

edit: Found a video of some really solid Rose play by Jiban against a Yun. It’s 38:10 into the video. http://youtu.be/rs-dHDOOOYI

Yeah i really need to learn how to save my meter more. Sometimes im surprised that i get super so fast. A 40 win streak?! thats epic. I was getting very scared when i got to 15 wins because i really didn’t want to go to the back of that long line.

hopefully this week i should be able to crack the top 3.

Some noteworthy Rose players worth taking a look at, imo. Ro-zutukaidesu placed in the top 16 of the NSBxNSB tournament on 07/23/11. Currently, he’s known as a PSN only player in Japan. We’re waiting to confirm some information on Kyanro’s Rose aside from the fact that he bodied Gachi Homottsun’s Sagat (Gachi Homottsun is currently #3bp ranked Ultimate Master Sagat in the arcades) & T-ALLOY-BODY’s Yun (T-ALLOY-BODY is a top Yun player on XBL) pretty convincingly.

Still a work in progress. Trying to follow Trike’s advice about her FA’s and of not being afraid of fireball wars. Trying to read opponents before using sparks as well. If they don’t catch on to recovery (they usually do), I would still try and use it. I’m still trying to condition myself to use reflects instead.

I still need a lot of work in the jump less, bad ST reads, and use spark less (or at least smarter) departments. Might be time to study her other normals and learn frame traps as well.

(vs an SF3 Ibuki player wanting to learn SF4 … aka I was thinking, “Oh! Because trying to reflect Cody’s rocks went so well… now let’s try reflecting knives!” facepalm)

The times when I chose U2 against shotos was just me experimenting with the setups and being comfortable with how its used, the right times for its activation, and figuring out how it’s stopped/the things that it stops.

Here are some matches of me (They call me Rose kid in Texas) from a local tourney in Texas. Fei Long is so good against everyone. I should’ve just switched to my secondary…

Here’s another one from a Bi-weekly final. Jan is just good though, one of the best Giefs in Texas hands down.

AE Ranked footage that I took yesterday:

I know I used U2 in the majority of match-ups, even in matches where U1 is considered better. Either way, I was able to make it work.

Here is two matches of me vs. bayarea510 in SSF4AE. Rose vs. Gen. Me and him do some very good stuff in these matches, I recommend you all check them out and leave me your thoughts. Am I good? Do I suck?

I have a match against an Abel that wasn’t very good but I had it won because it was just a domination by Rose. If you want to dig it up to watch it, feel free.

But the second one is at 1:07:40 vs a Zangief/Seth.

I have a third one against a Fei Long at 1:36:00.

And then I got one vs a Guile (winners finals) at 1:50:00.

And then I got one vs the same Fei Long in grand finals @ 36:00 of the part 2 of that same video (if you can get to it, I would provide a link, but it didn’t let me right now).
