I know, hahah he doesn’t play like gief players online.
This match was from a long time ago.
i’m still looking for a secondary that play somewhat like rose.
here are a few of my matches from a tourney this saturday.
this first one is against a pretty good yun. he rapes me the first match but the second and third i pull it together. i did some interesting little tricks with U2 also.
this is me playin against flashes gief. the night before i was getting a few matches on him but i guess he hit the lab and figured out the perfect distance he can jump in and always snuff my U1. i managed to win the second match but i got bodied in the end. any advice on that match up would be appreciated. I’m watchin this match again and i noticed that i wasn’t really holding my ground while playing footsies with gief. i pretty much backed myself into the corner
last is me vs a ryu player. when i look back at this it’s not that amazing i was sliding a lot, but that was cause i know he likes to throw hadokens at point blank range, but whatever i managed win.
all in all i got third losing to CJ truth in losers finals. he bodied me with fei. it wasn’t pretty.
What the hell is that crossup U2 mixup? Do you throw them right after they come out of hitstun from the first orb or something?
No. If you activate U2 right next to someone, you can throw them right before the orbs make contact(its strict timing though). Nice trick btw jeff, gotta add that for the few matches I’m gonna use U2 for now lol
yea i figured it out at the tourney while doing casuals. when you think about it you get a lot of options. if they try to jump/shoryu the cross up, they get air reset and you slide under them. if they block you throw them and if they get hit you get a full combo.
Yeah, just tried it out in the lab. Really cool trick, but DAMN that throw is hard to land. Looks like you can back up and walk back in for the throw after the first orb is gone, but I doubt that’d be more than a shenanigan you can throw out just once in a while. Should be really solid if you can get the timing on the throw down good.
Might I interest you in Chun-Li? Some say she and Rose are charge/motion versions of one another. She is certainly very poke/pressure/footsie/dash intensive like Rose. Gonna have to learn pianos and other stuff should you reached the advanced stage though.
I can’t find myself using U2 in many match-ups anymore except on the characters where I have a REALLY slim chance to hit it because of jump alters and fast recovery and them being a safe character.
she can also be throw…
you can do close mk if they catch on but this is best for some free damage against someone who doesn’t know about it in a tourney.
u1 just seems better in even the gief matchup. Really no point of it.
i mean even if you activate u2 even close to gief your gonna get spd.
So with the specific setup you’re using in the match (after j.mk crossup), does Rose have enough time to block 3-frame dp’s between the j.mk and the U2?
Thanks for the Rose matches, everyone. Seeing how you guys handle Yun’s dive kicks have helped me with using the optimal AA based on his spacing and dive kick version. Btw, does cr.mp punish Yun’s mp target combo when he stops after the second hit?
well i blocked an EX uppercut from fei long and thats 5 frames. there isn’t any frame data on the block stun from jumping attacks but i’m pretty sure your safe. as for which ultra to use i’m starting to lean towards U2 for the free damage/pressure. i only use U1 if i know it can punish something in the match up. i’m not gonna sit around and wait for my opponent to jump.
if they move is already in motion before you activate soul satellite, 90% if the time if it’s less than 7 frames, you will lose. There is that 10% it will hit you on the frame where orbs don’t disappear.
U1 is better in almost every match up in this game except in the characters that really really alter their jumps and have really safe fireball; Oni, Gouken, Akuma, Viper, etc.
I don’t know why anyone would really use U2 against Zangief in AE. I definitely advise using U1. If you look in the AE Match-Up Thread, I noted the reasons why U1 is better. I’d imagine you should be able to safely use U2 after a j.mk cross-up, but I’m not too sure. There’s no blockstun data for jumping attacks as ssj2jeff said.
I used to main chun-li but i ran into a massive road block with her. I couldn’t piano with her on stick and i started losing billions of matches. idk why. I guess i can give her a try but pianoing is difficult for me on stick atm.
Really close match between me and Hatrify:
I shouldn’t have tried to FADC backdash at the end of the second round :/. I was trying to lame him out and chip him for the win. I have to stop that habit sometimes.
