Psychic Hotline: Rose Video Thread

lol, how do I did Seth matchup

Well, trying to implement the stuff I’ve learned so far (use the slides and throws, learn her normals, fewer sparks, more drills/reflects etc). Despite the hp difference, it was much harder than I had imagined. Granted, the other guys are much better than I imo, but still.

Yeah, I need to stop doing that “blocked drill to Super anyway” shit… I’ve no idea how those got out, must have been overexcited. :xeye:

the Rose-Seth vanilla match-up was a nightmare if Seth was played correctly. Reflect was total shit then, it got really better in Super. You needed to be the one on offense. Pressure him from start, don’t be afraid of eating one or two sonic booms in the closing process. Once you’re on him, keep your distance just outside reversal ex-dp range and destroy his face with pokes. He really dies fast.

Here are two videos of me doing Ranked Battles from yesterday:

I had a good match with the number 3 or something makoto online, I never allowed him to get anything going so you could analyze it for makoto strats if i’m not too much garbage… sksksksk i don’t have any capture device but since your on my list if i share it with you could you capture it please?

Sure, just give me a heads up next time I’m on. Is this on XBL or PSN?

PSN… and thank you in advance

That posting error thing is annoying…

Anyway, requesting Rose vs Yun videos. Anton? ShinkuuR? SK? anyone?

I’ll see if I can try getting some Rose vs. Yun matches up later in the week. Shouldn’t be hard considering I know a lot that are using him.

I would post up mine, but I don’t have a cap atm.

I recorded a ton of Ranked matches today, and here’s 1 video out of 4 for now:

Not so many interesting matches in this video, but I did get some pretty good ones with good footsies and baiting in the latter ones. I’ll upload those tomorrow.

I have some rose vs yun matches, and i did better than i expected against Yun lol will be posting them up shortly

Got AE for PS3 and PC, still trying to get a hang of her. Many thanks to those who made the Chun Li and Rose write ups in the general discussion thread. Didn’t get to use her in Choco Super unfortunately, so I missed out on that version of orbs. I think I can learn and make do with AE’s orbs, though.

Really need to get Rose vs Yun/Yang up eventually. Against the twins I usually go Chun Li or Juri.

Feel fortunate that you didn’t play Super Rose. A lot of Rose players relied on it to the point that they feel she’s worthless because they never learned how to block with her. It is a sad nerf, though. :frowning:

Watched a bit of your E.Ryu match. Without going to deep into specifics:

Rose beats EVERY character in the game (except Sagat, probably) in a fireball war, and you should accept any chance you can to get into one. Especially with characters who have multi-hit fireballs like Akuma and E.Ryu. I saw you blocking and jumping over his fireballs, where you should be sitting at the end of the screen absorbing them for meter, reflecting them to throw off his rhythm, focus absorbing them for ultra meter, or throwing fireballs back and mixing EX ones in. You should not be approaching the opponent when they just want to throw fireballs. However, you have to make sure that you’re at a full screen distance or close to it in order to give you enough reaction time to reflect properly, otherwise you will eat a lot of fireballs.

Rose’s focus attack is VERY VERY VERY BAD. One of the worst in the game. Its actual hitbox is much shorter than it appears to be in its animation. Use it VERY sparingly or not at all. I only really use it for FADCing, absorbing hits/fireballs, or applying pressure after I activate U2 in the corner.

You can punish whiffed tatsus with cr.hp while it’s above you easily. Cancel into soul spark if you want to chip/push them back. If you’re feeling confident you can stand up and block it and go for a full combo afterwards.

Thank you sir. I had the feeling people got spoiled on Super orbs for them to switch or relegate her to alt.

I’ll definitely do a lot shoto training first, it’s inevitable. Not jumping around is definitely something I have not become more accustomed to in this series… I blame being a Marvel player first, SF player second (and loving her j.hp a little too much). I will try to keep it as grounded as when I zone with Chun. Thanks again!

Seconding the call for more vs Yun footage.

First few Yun sets in (as a Rose player) today and… man they’re ugly  :wasted: I definitely want to see how her normals/specials come to play in this matchup.

I cherish every chance to do damage in this one. And OTOH, I’m like  every time I get hit with robot combo to GJ. But that’s AE for you.

shes still good, im still performing almost as good like i did with Super. it really isnt a problem to just block on wakeup guys. seriously, just work on your defense if its that bad. from mid to far screen everyone should stand.hk to beat a dive kick attempt from the twins over a soul spark, ive used it alot to much success

@fury
St. hk is good to use against crouching opponents with fat hitboxes but the hurtboxes on that move arent that great. Did you mean st. fierce/strong?

Co-sign on that one, s. hk isn’t so great against closer dives. I’ve had more success stuffing dive kicks with s. lp (a la what I do with Chun) or s. mp.

54:00 minutes in.

Here’s some matches against one of my local sparring partners. He still drops the occasional link here and there, but mostly this is how i’m handling dive kicks and general Yun gameplay right now.

Some notes:

-Yun’s standing normals have short range, so 90% of the time he does a string ending with s.mp, you can walk backwards to avoid anything if he plans to counter hit your poke with another s.mp. This also works if you use s.mk to poke him and he tries to hit your next poke with s.mp, walk back and punish the whiff with c.mp.

-if he hits you air to air, he can cross you up with his dp+p when you land. Pretty lame.

-while his command throw sucks for Rose, he does lets you out the corner when he does it. So yay i guess.

Hope that helps out some…

Majin: you are giving up way too much ground to that Gief for no reason. You have to get into a poking game right when the match starts and make him work to push you in the corner.
