You get outrandomed a lot. Block more on mid range and react to people trying to catch your pokes with a special or a jump (and don’t forget to find out what’s punishable). Against Balrog you do not want to use cr.fp as an AA when he jumps at you from far away, use slide or focus backdash. Cr.fp does work pretty well when he jumps from mid range and closer.
Some matches between me, and two different Balrog players:

I was a little sloppy at times, but I think I did well. Any feedback would be great.
Yea The randomness of online gets me all the time. It seems like anytime I try to do anything decent I get scrubbed out by something really random. On many of the DP characters I find myself reluctant to pressure them on wake-up because they always DP reversal.
the set you did with Dynicksty was good. the first vid with Rafbox3 you pushed a lot of random buttons along with random drills. Rafbox started catching on to the unsafe drills with headbutt into ultra or just raw ultra. You did good keeping the distance. You just kinda went crazy on the random drills and random buttons pressed.
I have the tendency to throw out random pokes, but that can be a good or bad thing, depending on how it is viewed. Normally I use Spirals at the end of some blockstrings, or after a crouching strong, to continue applying the pressure.
Stop doing that
But it’s not completely a bad thing! It throws my opponent off, no?
if you’re going to push a random button for baiting/hoping they push a button, at least make it any of the jabs/shorts. Or simply get used to spacing by walking in place back and forth. Don’t really need to be pushing random buttons against charge characters when they’re waiting on you to do something to begin with.
its ok if you want to lose a lot offline
Normally I like using strong, forward, or roundhouse for range and damage, but using jab or short would be good to be on the safe side. I do walk back and forth in place, but only when I’m far away from the opponent. In the past, I used to press buttons a lot, and I got hit with an Ultra sometimes, simply because I wasn’t patient enough. It’s not as bad as it used to be, but I do need to play a bit more patiently. I think I’ll keep random pokes as part of my strategy, I find that it is helping me. However, I’ll use it more sparingly.
Jae: I think it has helped me offline as well, not just online.
it only helps when you play scrubs. you should not be throwing out random pokes and mashing. even when we played st you were mashing and i was like wtf!? even people saw in the back and was laughing. you are thinking about catching people off guard but you do it way too often so you get way to predictable. everyone that watched you play say you always go for pokes more than you need to. her pokes are not safe mind you. remember on ranked you play the person once and thats it offline you are going to play these people a lot and will catch on quick.
I was mashing in ST? What was I precisely doing? I thought I was doing well with footsies and poking. I always go for more pokes than I need to? Then what is the correct amount of poking that I need to do? So I can play footsies really well, but when it comes to either side of the spectrum, I go on a crash course? Offense - Pressing too many pokes when needed. Defense - Trying to do something on wake-up like backdashing, or pressing jab or short during an opponent’s blockstring?
Not saying they’re bad for punishing (which st.forward dominates) but there were times you’d be in sweep distance and pushing st.roundhouse as a poke which is the last thing you want to push on charge characters. (Balrog and Honda both can just headbutt on reaction.) If you’re going to throw out a hard button as a poke for Rose, use far st. fierce instead.
its not really about how many you are supposed to do its about when you are supposed to do it. in ST you kept jumping and mashing on forward for LL. i dont paly Ryu is ST so that’s why i did horrible. you need more than one gameplan and you need to learn how to adept then just sticking to your gameplan.
Oh, I guess that falls within my own judgment. I tried doing other attacks as well, such as standing/crouching forward, standing fierce, and crouching roundhouse. I wasn’t intent on just using LL. Mixing up blockstrings, properly distancing myself with normals, and punishing baited out moves isn’t enough?
Oni: Thanks, I was a bit cautious on using far standing fierce due to recovery.
to be honest i did not see any of that from you. only jump ins and mashing. I really think that that’s what you’re thoughts have been but if you were to ask anyone else who was watching they would have said something else. not trying to put you down or anything but i need you to try to think about it. You think more statistically than trying to apply what you are saying in game or think that’s all you should be doing when it’s also about adapting and not having patterns. just try to keep up with getting rid of the bad habits is something i really recommend. its better if someone tells you these things than no one say anything at all.
I remember doing them, but that doesn’t matter. Now I know what I must work on.
oh yeah play ST more. That game will really get you to block and you can’t mash buttons and mash reversal.
Yes, I have this mentality that I have to mix it up, so that’s what I try to do. However, maybe I am not mixing it up enough such that I am becoming not predictable. I went into Versus mode, and I tried blocking against the CPU for nearly a hour. It helped a bit, but when I went to CTF this past week, I started panicking under opponent pressure again. It was like a subconscious feeling that popped up out of nowhere. I think I have to continue doing it long-term, in order to get used to it. I can definitely say with confidence that overall, my defense has improved.
Jae, you talk as if you’re good at the game.
Please stop while you’re ahead.
