ah aquagen! i fought vs him, he is a pretty good rose…had just 2 matches vs him in ranked battle, both of them 2-1…lost in both for something like 50 of missing damage to be k.o.

It’s a pretty tough match-up for me, especially when I have trouble keeping Zangief out.
I know I was a bit reliant on her slide when I could have used other safer normals, and I shouldn’t have used EX Soul Throw on wake-up very often, in order to catch him out of any jumps.

This is a pretty good match-up for Rose, although once Sakura gets in with her damaging combos, it can be a nightmare to deal with.
Goodness man block for once on wakeup. Don’t have to always try and counterattack especially with gief. A lot of damage you ate came from either pushing a button on wakeup, random drills and unsafe drills, and constant sparks. Also why are you using U1? Considering you were always pushing a button after knockdowns, at least U2 would’ve been good buttons to push in that situation and you would’ve had some breathing air to either get gief off or at least get away safely.
But yea, you need to calm down on the slides overall in that match. You did a lot of sliding rather than AAing when Gief jumped at you. Also not so sure why you were trying to pressure gief so much with Drills since he can punish those easily on either startup or after a blocked drill.
My offense is good, but my defense is poor. I don’t know why I always end up pressing a button on wake-up, or during a blockstring. I think it’s because I’m too impatient or something. Are you referring to when I used EX Soul Throw a lot on wake-up? I didn’t anti-air him because I thought her c.HP lost to his j.HP, due to his gigantic hitbox. In Match 1, I tried anti-airing him, but it ended up trading in his favor, hence I didn’t really go for it again. I went for U1 because U2 was not working out for me, and I know that I had a chance to catch him, due to his slow jump arc. Unfortunately, it does make her free on wake-up for the most part. What should I ideally be doing in this match-up? I thought staying away and just throwing out occasional sparks and pokes would work. Chief713 told me that I should be doing more of staying within close-range, and just outrange him. He can even punish properly spaced Spirals? I don’t know the range of his command grab.
you have to do cr.Fierce early if you don’t want it to trade with j.Fierce. As for wakeup, I mean in general. If it wasn’t EX Throw, it was EX drill or backdashing or jumping. His command grab is still huge but i’ve been thrown out of spaced drilled and it’s not pretty.
Ideally you want to be out of range of SPD but in enough range to play the poke/punish game. s.Fierce, s.Roundhouse, f.Roundhouse works great in this match. Just be smart when you’re throwing out normals or else you’ll eat a SPD.
Oh, is it like punishing Balrog’s j.FP? (Actually, not sure if it’s j.FP, or j.RH) I have to adjust myself to the timing, because I’m used to punishing regular jump-ins, but not moves where I have to do it a bit earlier so it doesn’t trade in my opponent’s favor. Thank you for the tips, I’ll try that approach against him. I think right now, I should primarily be focusing on improving my defense.
