People mostly tend to do safe jab/short attacks to make people antsy and antagonize them into doing something, allowing you a easier chance to counter.
Also, it masks your intentions better. It’s easier to counter someone who sits there and suddenly makes a move, compared to someone who always make threatening actions but then follows through. There was an article about it posted somewhere, but it’s basically a low risk mind game tactic.
I dont play high-level chars enough to make me mask any intentions, I end up doing the complete opposite: not moving or blocking at all when in my ideal range, just being there trying to intimidate the opponent who keeps shaking back and forth. I chose ‘no worries’ as my title, it fits that style of total confidence very well.
But against a Guile I will creep up and crouch-block before his nose, and if they keep a down-back charge as well, I will just raise myself and sit back down again a few times to get them to react with hopefully a flash-kick. That does wonders against those that counter on reaction.

yo sksksksksk222 (hehe) i have a question. im always seeing you posting online in here and posting your vids of ranked mode etc but hav e you ever considered coming out to offline casuals/tournament setting? i mean you have a better local scene around you than almost everyone else
I have, and I’m actually going to the Chinatown weekly tournament this week. It’s my very first tournament. I tried joining a few weeks ago, but I got too nervous lol. I solely use pad at the moment, so I’m not really used to a stick. I went last Friday to play a couple of games, and I didn’t do that bad actually. I kept doing focus attacks by accident though (that’s really bad), but I’ll get used to it eventually. It feels like a really weird layout at first. I was told by Jae that you attended the tournament last week? It would be cool to meet you in person. Perhaps you could give my Rose a couple of pointers. Thanks ShinkuuR for answering my question.

Agreed, playing online does help you to a certain extent, but not so much as you would if you joined an actual tournament per se.

ive only played in one tournament, but have been playing tourny players “online” if that counts as anything. i kno it isnt perfect, but wen i entered my first tourny, i did better than i expected. not all veteran tourny players are as good as people make them out to be…
Actually, online play helps more than tournament play honestly.
Tournament play you get to play a few rounds and then your done.
Casual play however, is a different story.

I watched 45-47. I was pissed when that Gief and Rufus took 75-116 PP from you. Thats the kind of thing that happens to me everytime I play Ranked mode. Does it ever frustrate you? Sometimes I just try to laugh it off and forget about it but if it happens too much I end up going on a losing streak cos I don’t have any mental toughness.
Play an alt character-> see your PP plummet down to oblivion-> lose interest in PP-> play more relaxed-> play better.
In that order.
