Psychic Hotline: Rose Video Thread

I just catch random burn kicks with them. They can’t just jump around liberally anymore once you have U1. It’s the same with Guy and all his elbow dropping.

But I’ve seen videos of you using U2 against Vipers. It does pin them down.

But they still jump liberally because Burn Kick changes the angle of their jump :/.

And when you hit a U1 in this match, it’s obvious when you’re looking for it lol.

I actually tried U2 against viper yesterday. I must say…U2 IS WAYYYYYYY better IMO. Not only the Viper player had to respect my space but he was so afraid of it he would try to get me with EX seismo, making him burn meter! I feel like you can already beat most of vipers moves with Rose’s moves so combine this with U2 mixups/pressure she really has to be cautious against you :stuck_out_tongue:

For now on I choose U2 vs Viper :stuck_out_tongue:

But I was sometimes too careless and would soul spark and then dash to make more pressure on him…but he would use his TK to go under the fireball and hit me

Because they can change their angle of jump with BK I actually prefer using EX ST to bring them down and mix it up with frame traps / tick throws etc (most Vipers don’t like to simply block… ) EX ST travels so fast that they don’t have time to input the motion (watch out about instant BKs tho…I prefer either block or cr.mk to make it whiff…even tho I got the reaction to catch it now >_>)

I know there’s another Viper there that I need to play against…I think he’s stronger than the one I’ve played yesterday…

See

Rose vs Guile
in your match vs guile there was A LOT of opportunities where you could have AA him. He has no answers for EX ST and cr.HP. You could even have just walk up to him and grab/ st.mk him. Or just cr.mk to make his jumping attack whiff. I would personally choose U2 against guile because it forces him to back off again…forcing him to try coming to you again. There’s not a lot of time where you will land U1 against guile. In the video, you were lucky to actually catch the startup of his sonic boom and when he rushed to you to sweep…that was just a stupid error from him. Reflecting his booms upwards would also make him think twice before jumping on you, specially when you are close to him.

It’s also good to not be predictable with your cr.mp -> spiral. As you can see he got you a few times with it (I don’t know if it actually was reactions to it or he didn’t care because I think he caught you 2 or 3 times without having enough meter to FADC…)

I don’t know if it was here I heard it but doing early reflects so that the last active frames reflects the sonic boom is also something that can help you go back into position to prepare yourself for guile’s next move. Mastering this will greatly help you vs him.

Rose vs Balrog

  • no backdash
  • more AA
  • if you like to use soul spark (fullscreen only tho…) against him you must have the reaction to U1 him when he does TAP
  • more knockdowns!!
  • more cross ups!! (makes him lose his charge)

I cant really help with you since even tho I know some stuff I still have difficulties against him  (there’s like only 1 balrog in my community -_-)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcKjRY_8USU&feature=channel_video_title - LOL at 0:49.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ArJdFD0CkaA&feature=channel_video_title - 0:27 Is the timing to combo from slide really strict? I wasn’t aware it was possible before this and I couldn’t get it down in training mode.

it’s very interesting

I tried it in training mode and couldn’t get it to happen consistently either. My understanding from the frame data is that if you want to combo, for instance, from slide to cr.mp, you need hit with the very last active frame of the slide. Even then you only have a 1-frame window for the cr.mp.

So here is only one of my matches for a small tournament that our group ran (for ourselves really), the other two I lost. But I’d love to hear what people think, etc, all that jazz.

Sorry about poor quality, watch in 720p if you can. Any advise/critiques would be much appreciated. Thanks.

this was a no.10 rose ? you outplayed him in every way o_O. He presses too much buttons IMO

He may be like me and just suck playing against another Rose but has the other matchups down pretty well. I know i’ve lost to even the most novice of players in mirrors .

To be honest his rank has fallen to about 15-16th, Still I was expecting him to kick my ass not sure why he didn’t. LOL

Other interests. I havent played SF anything since AE dropped really. I plan to jump back in with 2012 possibly. We shall see.

Thanks for posting these- just recently started playing against a good Makoto and I was looking for some info on this match. I was shocked to see the community tier list showing it as 6-4 in Rose’s favor (her best matchup???)

It seems like whoever keeps up the pressure wins, but it takes a lot of knockdowns and reads from Rose, where Mak can just get 2 good reads/guesses and win the match with all that damage. I think my problem is max poke range (Rose’s usual best range) is actually a bad place to be in this match- instant air axe kicks beat pokes and lead to corner knockdown basically, or fadc kara/ex karakusa. Throwing out random pokes to beat dash barely works, if she reads or gets lucky she can just kara you during recovery or ex dash punch (st mk seemed to work best of everything I tried).

Fury215- Do you use ex sparks much more in the match than others (there were a lot here, they seemed to work very well)? Any other thoughts from anyone would be helpful.

i dont do too well in the rose matchup either. dont get how i have a perfectly spaced hk.spiral and he’s still able to cr.mp afterwards =/

I use it more against non fireball users. especially makotos who can get in from full screen from one focus through fireball -> jump attack --> ex dash punch. It’s also because he knows that i’d anti air him everytime he’d jump in, so he really has no choice but to stay grounded. I like to keep makoto out as much as possible, along with fei long. My usage of ex fireballs increases the more they respect my anti air capabilities.

I’m humbled and you’re welcome. I still get messages from time to time from peeps that started using Rose with help from me posting vids of me getting my ass kicked . It’s cool to know that something that I did just for fun has helped out the Rose community a little bit :D.
