Psychic Hotline: Rose Video Thread

Regular soul throw will beat the elbow IIRC. If not EX throw definitely will. You can also slide under it and punish with jab combo if timed right. Guy’s regular jumpins do lose to cr.hp but you run the risk of him doing elbows so go with what works against everything. His runs can be punished on block or if he tends to use stops it’s not a bad idea to throw FBs and try to bait run>slide or jumps. Usually YOU want to take the fight to him since guy can be rushed just as much as rose. Rose’s frame traps and strings are safe vs guy’s mash reversal and ex run so go nuts. I believe his reversal whiffs on cr.mk or far cr.lk on wakeup so you can do like cr.lk OS ex spiral against backdash then punish if he does a reversal. Don’t jump.

I’m sure others could tell you a lot more.

you have watch out with the elbow tho. If he does it at the right time it will beat regular ST even EX sometimes. Don’t go too crazy with it.if he does the elbow above you the best thing to do is cr.mk to make it whiff

I still need to hit constently OS spiral

Well I had some guy practice yesterday… Usually I zone until I need to play footsies… I’ve also caught quite a few run - overhead kicks with regular soul throw at the right moment… I’ve been able to reliably AA with cr.fp during this match or just go air to air with j.fp… Use alot of frametraps i like to use, cr.lk ~ s.cl.mp and if they try to use the shoulder in a blockstring while he turns around just use cr.mp spiral… cross up all day and back him in a corner and use pre-emptive f.hk…

Against my friend MakotoMuffins, has a really good makoto, he ends up winning our FT5 (5-4)

I did. And I did have better results. I just came home from school in that match and in the second match, I just joined his room and beat him.

Latif and I play all the time. It just happened to be in his favor that time.

Everytime I play a ranked match with Latif and it is an upload, it gets uploaded to Youtube anyway.

BTW; I’m not taking a thing away from Latif. That’s how my matches with Latif go all the time.

If he doesn’t get that pressure random onslaught with risks up the ass, I’ll win the match. If he does, he’ll win the match. It’s a heavily momentum based match. (or more so, how much momentum the Rose player can build up and how well Rose can control the pace of the month to be very slow.)

But not many Vipers can do that to me either.

I only know like 2 lol.

Rose can control the momentum, but only for so long, and that’s how the match ups work.

I can win, but I also can lose. In Super though, it rarely ever goes like this lol.

Hi, I’ve been playing SF4 for about two months now and working pretty hard on it. I know it’s kind of lame to post my crap here when everyone else seems like an expert player, but here’s the best match I’ve ever played lol:

Can someone give me some general advice on my game and what I should focus on most?

Um for now, the best thing you can do is get more matches under your belt. It’s still to early to give you any solid advice since, sorry if i’m being blunt, you’re lacking in too many areas. I mean fundamentally you’re sound but in this matchup specifically, you have to use cr. forward more to go under his elbow since it’ll trade w/ cr. fierce a lot. Don’t throw too many fireballs since rose’s fireball is ass. Slide is really good but learn to space it properly. Don’t back up TOO much. You give up too much space too quickly. Learn to move forward to position your slide or just to throw cr. forward slide feints. Get more matches in and then come back. And learn her BnB.

learn to block.

You need to dash a little more, not just walk around, Rose has an excellent dash. Also get out of the corner if your opponent backs off right away. Learn to punish with some basic combo’s and U1. Don’t throw out your fireball when you’re too close to your opponent and abuse Rose’s slide and quick pokes, learn to space those properly, that will help you out a lot already.

By the way, isn’t U1 a lot better for the Viper match up? Pretty much everything she does can be caught with U1 if the Viper player isn’t careful.

You guys haven’t played Latif enough to know that U1 doesn’t work against Vipers.

U2 is good for oki (if I can actually muster up the momentum and get a knockdown lol)

Fought one of the top (if not the top) Sagats here. Zangief2k should be able to recognize the username.

I think I was star-struck and really didn’t get off the right foot here. Unbelievable, I don’t play a few days due to work/illness and I get that rusty already.

4neqs: lol how do I did reflect ;_;
NeoChaos: d’oh
4neqs: Watching that Sagat vid again. One dude said something about not sliding. I’m thinking, am I doing it too much? Or just being too predictable with it
NeoChaos: Little bit of both

But yeah. I need to be less predictable with slides and c. mp’s. lol ugh, I’ve played the Sagat m/u much better than that in the past. I just need to find my groove again.

you also have to wonder…how many latif there’s in the world

And how! :woot:

Yeah that’s what I should have added. I still should have played this better regardless, the reflects weren’t coming out or mistimed really badly. Should have used Chun-Li more, but I really want to level up my Rose too… oh well, no excuses really, just going to have to challenge him a lot again. :china:

And yes, Mega is even more turtley now ever since the SG trip.

Basically, you can only hit U1 on shit dumb Vipers do lol.

aka dumb blockstrings that you guess in.

U2 is sure in that match, and I’m not usually an advocate for the use of U2.
