(And am I like the only one that thinks the mirror is an easy free match up? People seem to have a really hard time with it and I feel it’s hella free lol.)

idk how to play the matchup. To me it’s like the one who turtles and punishes blocked spirals the best. The mirror feels very random to me.

yep, I played lose control today lost to him and kicked him. I just think mirror match is stupid and in a tournament if it ever happened i’d play makoto/cammy.

That viper had no clue what to do. The Rose applied decent pressure and whiff punished pretty well. Overall a solid Rose and a Viper who let the spirits guide her.

Just watched through this video and thought most of the zoning aspect of the match was played out perfectly to a tee. Things to note:

[]Rose was focusing right around the tip of low forward range to cancel into the dash in case he either did a low forward or fireball

]Rarely were there any fireballs thrown there after that initial dash. This usually makes most ryus hesitant but it seems this ryu has his spacing down
[]He threw fireballs at that range where rose couldn’t react with reflect not because she couldn’t react but because at that range there are a plethora of things he’s doing. If you only think about reflecting you’re going to rushed down before you know it. It really is hard to react to reflect as your going in and out of this range.

]Again, like i said above really pay attention to when rose had to block / focus bdash the fireballs. That is the range YOU DON’T want to be in. Looking at that video brings up scars of WNF and alex valle all over again ugh.

]Safer corner U2 pressure after techable knockdowns. I don’t think enough roses are applying the more feints over throws over the period of 8 seconds of U2 enough. Once you have a firm grasp of what buttons each character can logically press, it becomes pretty easy to figure out where to stand and when to press stand forward and keep them honest(Here’s a hint. Characters with good low shorts should press that. Characters with good low forward should press that. Anything else is too risky of orbs counterhitting or is too slow).

It’s funny because I think ryu’s dominant zoning and rushdown(safe fifty fifty’s) over rose really showed in this matchup. The only reason rosetukaidesu won was because of that awesome set play in the end.

Me against Sharin(Zangief), in the biggest tournament here in Spain. Sharin ended in 3rd place, I ended up in top5. Still, I see too many errors and things that I could have done :frowning:

That is the calmest, most organized tournament room I’ve ever seen.

Tough luck on the match- a few bad turns and Zangief wins due to the damage/health difference. I feel like you need to pressure him on wakeup, the neutral game is not enough in Rose’s favor since she can’t deal a lot of damage. Everything feels risky though, it depends so much on the style of the Zangief player. GG though!

The only way rose can pressure gief on wakeup is with fireballs. Meaty throws beats pretty much everything gief can do BUT his lariat. But meaty throws are too risky.

Meaty throws can beat lariat- they just lose to SPD (or backdash, tech). So if you use sc MK once or twice to beat their SPD so you know they don’t want to try it anymore, you can throw them pretty easy. The risk is high of course, but sometimes I think it helps to get them out of their element, and its not like his options are safe if he guesses wrong. By backing off you give him all the time in the world to think, pressure free. Its an option if the range game isn’t working out.

Lol after i typed that i remembered that it might not have been SPD but something else. Either way, meaty grabs beat all of Gief’s options but SPD and bdash is too risky since his doesn’t put him very far.

I haven’t tried to kara throw with sc mk. Have you tried it? Does it work? Is it easy? Is it worth it? Cause if that’s a yes, that means meaty kara throw basically beats out ALL of gief’s options but bdash right?

Yeah I tried it, its unreliable unfortunately. Posted it somewhere here, but basically you’re only throw invul until your throw starts. So even if you had the perfect setup so the mk was still active on reversal timing, you beat super and ultra (1f start), but would lose to a regular spd (2f start) and I think EXs. Not positive what the kara timing window is (maybe possible to dodge both 1f and 2f throws?) but that would be asking for some crazy robotic timing.
