i woke and check my email: EBGAMES has shipped my order.
I cant wait to test the Pelicans. The first thing I will test will be holding the Left Direction for a few seconds, which is crucial for 2D fighters and charge characters

let me know how that goes
test for ALL possible games
I don’t know why you think that, but this problem has still not been fixed at all!
As of the current version (1.7) PS2 visuals still do not output at the proper resolution (480i). The PS3 forces them to 480p, which causes input lag due to buffering frames and also results in combing artifacts from poor deinterlacing.
You can verify the presence of the lag by doing the Guitar Hero II test with “Progressive Scan” unchecked. The lag is about 34 milliseconds, or 2 frames.
You can verify the presence of combing artifacts easily with Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. This artifact is what gives the character sprites zig-zags through their body when you parry a move or activate Genei-Jin with Yun, for example.
This bug is still in full effect and Sony has made no efforts to patch or fix it.
I sincerely hope they have tested if it drops commands, after holding a specific direction for 1x seconds. I’ve seen this far too much, both Logic3 and ASiD - which I consider the converters with little to no lag, suffer from this command-drop-issue.
I ordered two express, so maybe they’re here by Friday and I can try to check? As far as I can tell, DreamTR works there… he might be able to answer that. =\
That would be lovely, I cross my fingers.
There have to be a solution.
I’ve never experienced command drop problems when playing with the converter…
^^^^ yay
Give us a heads up on whether this adapter works with HRAP1 for VF5.
Nice, can’t wait to hear your impressions of the adapter
well, it works great for 2D games, not input disconnect when charging LEFT like the ASiS
I tried my custom stuck (Dual Shock PCB) and my PS2 Saturn Pad
-Tekken 5 DR
-Virtua Fighter 5
-Street Fighter Anthology
-Street Fighter Anniversary Collection
-Q*bert
the Pelican works great … so far. I have no complaints. Better then the ASiS
sorry if I didnt delve into deeper testing then just those. I don’t own a GH Guitar and I don’t own DDR matts, I just wanted a decent adapter to use my Ps2 Saturn Pad and my Custom Stick
Pelican is way better then ASiS
did you have to turn on/off analog to make it work on any of the games with the pelican adapter?
both my custom stick and my PS2 Saturn pad don’t have an analog button.
So it was never needed to push the analog button.
I understand you question, it’s VF5 related :P.
My Custom Stick and my PS2 Pad run fine on the the PS3 menu and on VF5 without ever bothering with the analog button.
Please try holding each direction for a lengthy period of time, like 15 seconds.
DreamTR: Do the Pelicans work with multitaps? Not that it matters much for me, I will probably buy them anyway.
Wicked news!! I’m definitely picking up a pair as soon as possible. I’ll test for command drops and lag and let you guys know how it turns out.
To half-answer your question…
You will not ever be plugging a multitap into your PS3.
They will never make a PS3 multitap. Holding down the Home/Playstation/whatever button on a particular controller (while a game is running) will let you assign the port/player number/whatever for that controller in question: either 1 or 2 of A to D, for a total of eight slots.
I’m assuming that functionality will be the same, even though there are only enough USB ports for four PS2 adapters. If you want to use 5+ PS2 controllers, THEN you would probably need the multitap, which may or may not work. Very few people ever bothered playing 5+ player games on the PS2 anyways.
Note that, without even beginning to discuss all the third-party PS2 multitaps made, there were separate Sony multitaps made for the fat (original) and the slim PS2.
Or, you know, a USB hub.
just came home to a pair of pelican adapters and will run some tests to anybody with any questions.
my sticks only have sony first party dualshock one pcb’s in them so i am kind of limited in what i can test.
so far i’ve noticed that my modded in analog button act as a “PS” button and i can exit out of ps2 games from my stick which is pretty nice.
akuma001, if you’re serious about testing, I got a number of questions. First, do the buttons map the same in both BC and PS3 games? Does it show up on a PC as a USB Gamepad? If so, is there a button that maps to your analog button?
What I really need is to see the USB descriptor for it. I’ll write up a step-by-step to get it if someone is willing to send me a copy.
buttons map the same for bc and ps3 games. i only tested 3rd strike, vf5, t5dr & sfex2 for psone.
it shows up on my winxp sp2 laptop as “PLAYSTATION® 3 Controller”
the button that maps to the analog button is #13
i have no idea what a usb descriptor is
i used a ps2 official dualshock to run these tests so i wouldn’t have to lug my stick over if that makes any difference to you.
another thing i noticed compared to the elecom 101 is that once you load a bc game, it asks you to press the ps button to activate the controller. the elecom 101 just jumps straight into bc games the pelican doesn’t.
one more thing i noticed is the “PS” button on the pelican adapter or analog button on my stick while connected to the pelican to the ps3 cannot turn on the ps3 like pressing the “PS” button on a sixaxis.
hope things help
