Damn shame because it gives the racists people deep cover to say “see this what they are doing,” and distract from the controversy and reason for the anger.

seriously, a small riot squad basically fucked up an entire city, and that was with them ‘holding back’. There is zero reason a city needs that kind of weaponry to keep the peace, unless you’re fucking New York or something.
Ferguson isn’t a small hick town, it’s part of one of the greater metropolitan areas in the US, and it’s also a mere 15 minutes from East St. Louis, one of the most drastic places to be in the country.
But yes, these cops have way too much fucking military gear. All that money should’ve gone to wearable cameras instead.
for you Americans, you should realize the rest of the world is wondering about this as well. From here in Canada, we wonder about how the police quite literally became a military, to deal with this. Should your government turn against you (lol it has, already), what fucking chance do you have when the police are better armed than most other countries militaries?
edit: it’s really hard for your government’s to say you don’t have money for education, or city improvements, or social services, but you have money for machine guns and tanks for your fucking POLICE FORCE.
Just felt like pointing out that the guy who agrees that the police are fucking up big time/are acting irresponsible/should get booted out of there (which sounds like what just happened, thank god), probably isn’t trying to defend them.
it’s a suburb with less than a chunk of what MY city has for a population, and you guys sent fucking tanks and shit at them. Wiki estimates the population at around 22000 people, but I swear I read 55000 somewhere. Seriously, what in the fuck.
This is a very, very long discussion that could be had about the general state of policing in the United States, but the problem comes from the annual department budgets they have, the deals they’re offered on equipment, and the fact that smaller towns afford this by writing tickets for people speeding 5mph/8kph over the limit. There’s really no way to fix this overnight. You have municipal city cops (who technically do not have arrest authority, fyi), county cops, state cops, federal cops, and they have different levels of local oversight that makes it impossible to uniformly govern them.
My apologies in advance if this comes off as insensitive, but I almost feel like we NEED the Ferguson incident to escalate rather than defuse. If nothing happens, the riots disperse and people go home, nothing will change. It’s going to take even more monumental fuckups by authorities in a well-documented scenario for this to catch on in other places, and only then will it affect the average person enough to get pissed off.
Anonymous got some BALLS on 'em. I wonder how well insulated they really are. I what how long it’ll be before some government really goes in hard on them.
Sabu wasn’t the lead hacker. He was a recruiter who turned into a stoolie for the FBI. Other members of Anonymous caught on, but a few low level guys got fucked. Higher level members of Anonymous are probably people high up in the industry. I remember when some of the old school groups like DrinkOrDie and Razor 1911 would have members get caught, they were catching engineers who worked for Cisco and shit. You got high level Google employees engaging in fatal horse fucking accidents, and heroin/hooker combinations that were equally fatal, it’s not a far stretch to think a few Anonymous members don’t work there too. Or anywhere
But as of late, not much they seem able to do besides rip out e-mail spools and passwords and info, then take down sites and post all the shit they got. Snowden leaked all the real good shit, and most Government seems to have caught on, and stops keeping sensitive shit easily accessible.
